I have blocked out a character in 3ds Max. I then took it into Mudbox to sculpt and paint. Once finished I updated the charcter back in 3ds Max. When i render the character i am getting unwanted shadows (refer to image). This is happening with a lot with all my 3d geometry i am creating lately. I have tried flipping the normals. I have no lights in the scene.
View 2 RepliesI haven't altered the material, at least not consciously. As you can see in the image the dark areas of the terrain have turned into this nasty black mess. The project as a whole has a long way to go, including the material used for the terrain etc

and when I want to render multiple layers, will it be possible to render them at once instead of layer by layer? If I merge them somehow the shadows are screwed up....
I have an assembly that has somewhere a hole with a round bar that exactly fits in this hole. But when meshing the assembly, the mesh of the hole and the mesh of the bar are different.
The result is that the different parts do only seem to touch each other at the edges of the mesh, resulting in high stresses.

I tried to made a derived part from the assembly, but that one does not finish meshing. After 48 hours, the progress bar is still half way. While the one above did finish in about 15 minutes. What can I do to make the meshes match?
I thought they were supposed to appear when the Polygon shelf is selected? I don't see them. In fact, when I select different shelves the menu items on the right half of the task bar don't change at all. Is this normal?
This is Maya 2011 on Mac OS X Lion.
why i cannot change the color of the background when rendering? It is always black, and i cannot attached or make new material, if need to attach jpeg or new texture on my drawing, cannot create new material. what should i do? im currently using autocad for mac 2012.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have made a small 10x10 px. pic (lets say it's a diamond shape), and want to enlarge this to, say, 500x500 px. to get a sort of "digital" effect, where you can see the pixels clearly.
I use free transform to do this, and it looks fine until I press "enter" to confirm transformation.
Then the pic suddenly gets very blurry, like the "feather" effect.
So does anyone know if it's possible to enlarge pictures of this size, and keep the edges "un-feathered"? I've looked around, and can't seem to find a solution ("feather" and "anti-aliasing" is set to "0").
Alternative is if you know a way to make the same effect without having to enlarge the pic.
Im having difficulty with having a unwanted reddish cast to my pics when desated in CS2, it has been suggested that im not using the standard colour profile, how do i find out and if necessary change it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI found great use with the Drop Shadow ability. Especially when used with text; a nice soft, lighty blurred drop shadow would do wonders for the overall image.
But too many times do I see graphics with that ugly, heavy, and greatly offset dropshadow. Sure enough it actually DETRACTS the realism from the image.
I need to use an object and a shadow shot in a studio shoot. It was shot on a light cream background and I need to piece the object and shadow back together and then place on a bright coloured background.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIwhen I do a shadow I put my subject (selection) on a new layer. I then use Command Delete to turn it black. Transform>Distort to lay it down and place it where I want it and finally the layer opacity and Guassian Blur to feather it. If you really want extra realism you should taper the shadow from dark next to the subject to light at the far end. Finally my question - How do I taper the density of the shadow from dark to almost completely transparent?

When editing either one, it is affecting the other. If I move the angle, it changes the angle for the other layer's shadow. I can not see why. How can I determine what is causing this "linked" effect?
I'm editing some photographs in Photoshop and because of the sunlight, all my subjects have a dark shadow covering part of their neck/throat areas and shirt collars. I used the both the healing brush and patch tools to fix up the shirt areas and they look fine. However, whenever I tried using these tools using non-shadow areas of their neck as sampled areas, the results always look bad. Their necks, even though shadows are removed, look like plastic or plaster rather than real human skin. How would I remove these shadows from their necks without causing an unrealistic looking skin?

Why does a new drop shadow, on a different layer, affect a previous drop shadow on a separate layer? How can I apply different drop shadows to different layers?
how to save an image that I've added a drop shadow to with a transparent background. I have it all set up with the transparent background and it looks as it should in .psd format, but when I attempt to save it as a .gif (appparently this and .png are the only formats that support transparency), the shadow ends up looking like black and white. Is this just the drawback of .gif colors or what?
