3ds Max :: Render Preview In Exposure Control Renders Black?
Sep 11, 2012
why when i use the little window in the exposure control to render a preview so i can adjust the exposure. but does not matter what i do, it just stays black. i am not doing anything different than before so i am assuming a toggle switched on me and now nothing. it renders just fine, preview is just broken or disabled.
I have a walkthru camera tied to a path. I start outside and move under a canopy at the front door. I need to change the exposure control when the camera goew under the canopy. The camera has a key at each end of the path. I tried putting the camera at the point that I wanted to start the exposure control animation and setting a key and then moving to end. The exposure will change but it animates from the start of the path to the end. Is there a way to do what I want to do?
I am quite new to 3D modeling & rendering. I did a simple 3d model of a standing unit, but once i clicked on render, only a black screen appeared.
I did try to put a point light and increase its intensity but the model can barely be seen. I also created a new camera and clicked render but to no avail.
My AE comp renders as a full-length video of a black screen (with audio, when enabled). Comp plays fine in RAM preview, and I've tried all types of codecs and disabling RAM intensive effects, though I'm working on a quad-core i7 macbook pro with 8 gigs of RAM, so that shouldn't be a problem.
I have been faced with an almost identical problem listed here URL....The only thing that changes it from complete blackness is the "Ambience" value. I've done all software and hardware updates, reinstalled the graphics card driver, and restarted a multitude of times. I am using:
Dell Optiplex 390 Intel(R) HD Graphics 2000 Windows 7 64 bit Photoshop CC No Color Management No plug-ins, or anything other than default PS settings
I used Lighting Effects on Photoshop CS3 and CS6 for almost two years on this machine with no problem. This was the first time I had tried to use it since I upgraded to CC. I uninstalled all other versions of PS when I upgraded, so I have not tried to replicate the problem in older versions.
We export our renders to be used in a GUI and for some reason the bottom of our renders since last week (to be fair we only have one user who exports - so only one user has this problem) have a solid black line on the bottom. Now this wouldn't be a horrible problem except we have to set a transparency color in our control software and since the background is not uniform it is VERY obvious when in our final software package. We also have to maintain a constant resolution or the control systems (what we use the renders in) will distort and be way off.
Here is a sample: [URL]....
This happens in both 2013 and 2012. Perhaps there are some lightning/render settings I can try changing on this users machine?
I am using VideoStudio Pro X3 and trying to understand some behavior in the program. I have some AVI files which I added to the gallery. If I play the video from the gallery in the preview window, the exposure appears correct. But when I pause the video, the image becomes darker (with more contrast). I've attached 2 image captures which demonstrate. After the video clip is added to the timeline, playing or pausing the clip will also appear darker. After I trim and create a new AVI and watch both in Windows Media Player, the original is brighter and the edited video is darker. What is causing this change to the video's exposure??
I'm trying to edit a set of titles made in Premiere in After Effects, and after I import the file (as a Premiere file) then load the sequence into the timeline; the preview is just a black screen throughout the entire preview. The titles never show up.
When I am doing a render it is hard to do anything else. Is there somewhere where I can set how many of my cores is used for a render? In the task manager it shows my CPUs at 100% My machine is the following specs. [code]....
why I am getting a difference in my result between the preview screen in max and the actual output file. I have had to re-render hours because the finial result came in much darker then the preview screen and I had to crank up my lights. I think even the quality was better in the preview screen.
I have a Comp, which admittidely is a render nightmare, with 64 instances of a the same video each 1 frame ahead of the next. So it's very RAM hungry and something of a balancing act between the number of CPUs and how much RAM each is allowed (but generally allowing 3GB per process and 1 less CPU than suggested)
The thing that is killing me though is the RAM Preview is going almost 3x faster than a normal render. Even when the normal render destination is an SSD and compression is None. otherwise exact same settings i.e. 100%, best quality.
The really interesting part is that when doing a MP RAM preview the CPU usage (as viewed in activity monitor) is a solid wall of green but when I do a standard MP render the CPU useage is fluctuating wildly. I've tried various dififerent MP options (all maintaining a safe RAM overhead for the sysytem) with very little difference in performance.
MacPRO 2x 2.26 QuadCore, OSX10.8.3, 32GB RAM, Proavio RAID for source, internal SSD for destination.
I am working on a motion graphic, it contains a background a camrea and a couple 3d layers, when a I render it it a 2 of the 3d layers shake randomly. This does not happen in the preview. Using CS4
This issue started out of nowhere for what I consider to be no reason. Working on average sized 720p compositions with modest animations.
I am running fresh comps in AE CC with absolutely no plugins, freshly purged memory, cleaned cache, restarted comp, no other applications running on computer and 13 gb of memory allocated to AE... etc.
I'm running into a problem whenever I use multi frame rendering in the ram preview. If the machine is rendering and I don't have After Effects as the active application or whenever I stop playback of the ram preview, the cached frames are immediately deleted. I can see the green line moving forward as the image is rendered, but the second I stop the preview (or if AE is rendering in the background and I don't click back to it in time for it to begin playback) then the frames are gone and the green line disappears and I cannot scrub through the rendered frames.
If I disable multi frame rendering, then the green line and the cached frames remain in the preview window, and I can scrub through them like normal; they do not clear. Only when multi frame rendering is enabled does it disappear after render.
I know the frames are saving, because I have 32 GB set on my SSD for the disk cache (I also put them on an external HDD to test with the same results). It will fill up that 32GB of space presumably with the cached frames that disappear after render, but they are not accessible. I also have 16GB of ram, with plenty free for AE to use for caching (3GB per core = 12GB set for AE ram preview). I have not had this problem of the frames clearing until AE CC.
The only thing I can think that would be different from other times when I've not had this problem is that I'm using ProRes 422 (LT) clips in the compositions. But I don't know why they would cache normally without multiframe and then be immediately deleted with it enabled.
And no, rendering without multiframe is not an option. RAM previews take four times as long with single frame rendering, and I don't want to sit at my computer all day waiting for previews. This is extremely frusterating, as I must have AE open as the foremost program at all times. If I miss that crucial moment where the render completes and click back to the program a second late, all the frames are gone and I must rerender again! It happened twice while writing this message.
So what's the deal?
Specs: AE CC 12.0.0.404 Retina Macbook Pro / OSX 10.8.5 2.6Ghz Core i7 16GB RAM 512 GB primary SSD (where footage & cache is located) 3TB 7200rpm cache drive
this has been only happening since updating this morning from 13.0.1 - 13.0.2...I have a problem where if I create a new curve layer and then press the preview button on/off it fails to re render the preview and nothing else happens until I OK it. I also notice that it creates history entries on the history panel like I'm making adjustments? Weird!
There's been a few other noticeable things too. The liquify window now doesn't draw as nice and smoothly as it did with 13.0.1. The cursor jitters a lot and control isn't as smooth.
But I've added some color correction and some of my clips seem to be rendering out corrupted once the effects are applied. If I toggle the effects off it goes away, but toggling them on again and it's back. I've restarted the machine several times and the corruption reoccurs in the same spots. Is there a cache that I need to toss? When I rerender or export the the file the corruption remains. The effects I'm using are basic, auto color, fast color corrector, and brightness & contrast. here's what it looks like.
I was doing a machina at autocad 12 and when i was in rendering options I must have do something wrong, and now, when I try to render anything, the render goes on black and white. This machine is black, silver and transparent (plastic, metal and glass) and the metal goes on grey, the plastic (wich is black) goes on white and the glass disappears.
I tried to open another windows, make boxes with black plastic and another with glass, and the black turns on grey or white..
I am rendering an interior animation of a church for a client and after rendering a few frames with backburner on my offices network, I noticed that a lot of the frames have black faces that appear on the walls, then disappear in other frames. In particular the central column in the first attached image, the second image is how it should look. I've created both photon maps for GI and Final gather maps for most of the animation.
I'm running 3DS Max Design 2011 on a Dell Precision T5500 Intel Xeon CPU E5520 @2.27 GHz 2.26 GHz, 12 G Ram
I have made a scene in 3ds max design 2013, using all default materials of autodesk and I am rendering using mental ray. the final image rendered in a very good quality has lot of black patches.
I downloaded some 3ds models, but I have problem with some of them. Well, I see all objects in the project but when I render, the render box is totally black.
In Curves, when you want to see the deepest blacks and whitest whites, you hold down Option while clicking and dragging the balck and white sliders – and the dragging doesn't allow accurate control. It's okay, but I would find it better if I could nudge the black and white sliders from the keyboard while seeing the effect on the image. Is that possible when using Curves as an adjustment layer?
I've just downloaded VS11 plus TBYB and now I`m trying to make some DVD disk. All is o.k. but i can not see the disc preview. All i see on the black "preview window" is the record "Press "Play" button to start preview" .After i press the button i see the progress bar shortly and nothing more happens.
Have just installed VSx4 trial version. I previously used x3 with no problems. I've created a new project, imported an AVI and it plays fine in the preview window, in either Clip or Project mode. However, as soon as I pause it the image goes black.
This makes any kind of editing nearly impossible. I don't get the problem with the pre-installed sample video "V21". So I guess it is clip related? It plays and pauses fine in media player.
When I select photos in library or on the video track they go black in preview window... nothing appears. But not all... some don't go black. This happens after working on project for 15-20 minutes. When I first start up computer they all appear in preview when selected. No problem then. Same if I shut down and restart computer. Only after working on project awhile does it happen. Also after some time working I get window saying no memory. I thought with 4 ram I could work for hours before getting any problems like this. I plug in my external WD Passport HD only for backups. And with MacShield filter turned off, still have problem. Could it be the VS Pro X5 software?
I am creating mockups for a t-shirt design, this top photo is how the design looks in illustrator with the correct pantones: blue 3115C, Red 119C, and Black. When I save it as a PDF and it is opened in the Preview Application, certain colors turn black like this. This has happened several times lately and I have recently switched from Illy CS5 to CS6, so I wonder if that is the reason?
I'm on a MAC PRO with the OS 10.6.8 and 8Go Ram, the problem is when i turn on my preview video on the Blackmagic the video monitor is not in real time and the after effect is so slow. When i put it off (computer monitor only) it's ok but i havn't my video monitor of course....and i need it. Is there some tricks for having my black magic (1080 i 50) ON and a RAM Preview in real time ? My drivers Black magic is the 9.5.3 it's the highest driver for MAC OS 10.6.8 + ADOBE CS6+ FCP7. ( i tried update adobe, change qt library, change aspect ratio, pixel, preview ram settings, change drivers black magic and other but nothing work )
i found PSP3 to be WAY over my head, and uninstalled it,, only now, using windows movie maker ][5.1] i find the "preview" of text in video is blank. is there some thing about PSP that would have caused this? i reinstalled PSP and it and windows movie maker worked ok, then i removed psp again and the problem has returned. the preview of text in movie in blank/black..in the windows movie maker. the text DOES go on,,
I get a black capture screen when capturing with CS6 on a Windows 7 machine. I'm capturing through Fire wire from DV tape, via the VCR function of a Canon XL2 camera. I have tried restarting, etc.; also toggled the "preview video" radio from the Settings button in the capture Window. Nothing works and I need to be able to preview my video as I'm capturing. It is not good enough that the video actually captures fine. Also, I am forced to turn off Device Control in order to capture because it kicks me out of every capture (an immediate message of : "no frames captured") unless I do.
