3ds Max :: How To Import Lego Digital Designer Files
Jul 12, 2011
Is it possible to import Lego Digital Designer files into 3ds max design 2011? I'm having to model each individual brick and it is taking forever to create my scenes. It would be much faster if there was a plugin or something to import them. The file type is .lxf.
Designer Pro is an excellent program for digital scrapbooking, with it's all in one abilities everything a digital scrapbooker needs is right here! Even the web design features are very useful for creating complete albums that you can share online or privately with friends or family.
XDP comes with a few nice scrapbook sets, and adding stuff you may already have or stuff you find from some of the many scrapbooking sites around the web is as simple as adding folders to your designs gallery for papers, embellishments alphabets, and word art.
I'm thinking of doing a regular scrap booking posting (I'm not sure yet how often, it will depend on my schedule and interest in the topic) some of the things that I may post will be tips, short tutorials, and Freebies!
For today I have a quick and simple layout template for you. Simply select the photo object in the center and drag and drop your photo file right into the layout. The background "paper" is simply a rectangle with a seamless tile that I created in just a couple of mins. The heading is a simple layered effect that is soft grouped so you can easily change the text and even the font. The embellishments are just a few photo clipart objects from one of the sets that comes with Designer Pro.
I exported a drawing (Clipper ship drawing) from TDX5 to CorelCAD .dwg format. Here are some first findings/remarks:
1. Bezier curves are displayed as "segmented" lines - should be bezier curves or adapted splines. (My Clipper ship drawings contain hundreds of bezier curves next to B-splines).
2. Texture fills are not displayed properly, only fragments and on wrong places.
3. Hidden layers are exported and shown - there should be an option to indicate whether a hidden layer should be exported or not. Better still in CorelCAD a hidden layer should remain hidden until a "show layer" command is issued. Now you have to delete a hidden layer before exporting the drawing. (My ships drawings contain many layers, many of them often hidden).
I have recently upgraded to VS Pro X5 from VS Pro X2, and have a question about the import from digital media feature. I've ripped my DVD folder to my HD and select Import from digital media. The title and chapter thumbnails appear, but it takes a while for the graphics to appear. Also, when I try to play an associated thumbnail to determine exactly what I want to import, VS Pro X5 enters a non responding state for some time, depending on the size of the video. It does eventually continue and plays the title or chapter. When I select the title or chapter for importing, it does in fact import, it's just the delay in playing the clip that I'm questioning. But when I run the same process on the same computer in VS Po X2, the process is almost instantaneous. Since both programs are still installed, I realize that I cam simply use VS Pro X2 whenever I need to use import from digital media. It's just odd that the earlier version of the program would perform this function better than the more recent version.
my Corel VideoStudio Pro X6 . I am trying to import from digital media, but it won't read file formats on DVD. I know that those are VOB files, and it worked well, and now it won't read it. I changed the file format from .VOB to .MPG and in that case I can add that chapters as a regular clip. I can't o it from Import from Digital media. The error that pop up's says:
1. The file formats of some selected files are not supported.
i´m looking for a workflow to import Digital Map Data from a source. The Data we´re using comes from Geographical Institutes. The File-Format i have never heard of:
-binear DGM *.dgm -*.adf -ASCI GRID *.grd
I dont know how to convert it to a mesh or something that i can import to MAX. The free plugin, called "Terrain" on Maxplugins, can import files like *.dtm or point clouds but not our Digital Map Data.
Any simple workflow to import such Heightmaps into max?
I have about 500 .dsf files (from iGrafxDesigner ... maybe 1999 version).I need to convert these to .svg. I would like to avoid having to write an import/export script, but I have done scripting for AutoCAD, Rhino3d, and Lightwave3d, so if necessary I could do it I suppose.
Photoshop CS6 Extened won't play or process Dolby Digital (AC-3) Audio Files from my AVCHD video files. The video plays fine just no sound at all. When processed still no sound. Are there any (AC-3) audio codecs I can download and install. How would I install them. Do I need to convert audio files to another format & if so how & what format.
Usually, I chamfer a simple box by creating it, converting it to an editable poly, selecting the edges, and adding a chamfer in the 'Modify' tab. Now, my problem:
The Lego fan community has developed digital Lego parts [URL]..., which use the correct dimensions, but have unreastic chamfering and geometries (eg, an octagon is used to depict a circle. LDview, a program for viewing LDraw files is able to export these parts into .3ds (and .stl) files - links below. However, I am unable to chamfer or modify these parts using my usual method.
I recently stopped doing freelance design work. For one company that I did a lot of work for, I need to pass on all of my files to their next designer. I have probably over 50 AI files to pass on. What's the best way to get all the files to the next designer?
I want to shoot RAW images on my digital camera but I'm at a loss when it comes to how to edit RAW files.
I don't really want to use the RAW software that came with my camera but have read somewhere that you can edit RAW files in Photoshop. I have Photoshop CS but can't figure out how to use the RAW plug in.
Would the Photoshop CS RAW plug in work in the same way as the RAW shooter software I got with my camera? I mean if I used the Photoshop RAW plug in it's not going to compress my images. The reason for shooting RAW is that they are like a digital negative.
our company is stuck with CD 12 because of budget cuts. which format is the best to use when converting MS Powerpoint files to Corel CD 12. The main concern is to maintain the edibility of the line art without much distortion for later use. I have tried EMF with some success but not really happy with it. Maybe EPS?
is there a way to make the drawings like Lego does for assembling the stuff? After you finish one step, of lets say three pieces put together, and you go to the next step those pieces are like grayed / shaded out and you know to build the next pieces in what position etc..
I have to go outside of the program and open them by dragging the file onto the dock icon. This means I cannot open any of my digital camera files (transferred into Nikon Transfer into "Pictures") from the program. So, I have to go 'outside' of PS, and then back in – and this eats up a good deal of time, and this latest version isn't as quick as it used to be.
Sometimes, it won't even let me open a file I'd worked on only a few hours before. Again, I can open them 'outside' PS, but I keep getting this error when I try to access them from via command-O:
"Could not complete your request because of a program error."
I've reset the defaults twice. Fresh operating system. Clean user account.
I deal with creating overhead property plats and landscape plans in Designer X4. The problem I have is there aren't any good patterns to use for the architecture and landscape industry. I have dealt with PhotoShop in the past and how you could import .pat files that would tile nicely. It would be nice to be able to fill an area with a stone pattern. I found some AutoCAD files but the filter type was not supported. If nothing else, I need to know what kind of vector pattern files are supported.
I am an archaeologist working with survey equipment and Map3D for a few years but now I have the following problem.
When I import the shapefiles created in my leica/topcon equipment into Map3D (mapimport) there is the possibility to select which attributes are going to be imported with an import profile file (.ipf).
How do I create the above and save it so that I do not have to go through the same process again?
I am currently using a Nikon D7100 and recording my photos in the Raw/NEF-RAW format. Recently, whenever I am uploading my photos to Lightroom 5, my photos are changing to .dng files rather than staying in the NEF file. When I go and look back at my previous imports from the past few times, they are in NEF and NOT in .dng. Why is this doing this and how do I turn this feature off so that my files remain the same going from my camera to my computer through importation.
I just upgraded to a 5D and LR4.. when I import the files load as CR2 files, not DNG files. When the files import it takes 4 files to find them. It also will not recognize the file names in the library. How do I fix this to import like it did in LR 3??
I've searched these forums for any "how to's" and found some info, but either it was over my head as to the fix or it delt with different video file formats or error messages.
The short version:
I have a fresh install of X4 on a 64 bit Windows 7 (Pro) and I'm trying to import *.MTS video files into the timeline but keep getting "File format Mismatch 1081:1:3" errors. I've copied the files from the SD card to the harddrive. I've also tried renaming the file(s) extensions from MTS to M2TS, AVI, MPG, and still get the error.
The long winded version:
I had X4 on a 32 bit PC for a long time. Installed Panasonics AE reader software that came with the HDC-SDT750 camcorder. X4 could recognize the MTS files and import them into the timeline. The PC motherboard failed so I got new motherboard and decided to do a fresh install of the 64 bit version of Win 7 Pro on a clean harddrive. Did a fresh install of X4. Then installed all Windows and X4 updates and patches.
When I try to insert a MTS video clip (file) into the timeline from either the SD card or harddrive I get the error message "File format Mismatch 1081:1:3". I can play the video files through windows media player (No matter what I've changed the file extesion to) and the video and sound play fine. I can also insert any other video file into a timeline except MTS files (New or older ones). With X4 up and running and searching for which video file to insert I can see the MTS video preview thumbnail in the file explorer window.
The video clips are 1920X1080 at 29 fms and a bit rate of 16794kbps
I can't find the Panasonic software disk and the best that I can tell Panasonic does not have their software online for download.
I will need some hand holding here so I'll need more step by step instructions than "Get the latest codecs" (Whatever that means)
This is very troubling. I work with Autocad files, currently Acad 2010 is being used in the office.
I'm trying to import a siteplan for coloring, and I can't get the darn thing into X5. I import as a .pdf (created from Autocad) and I get a "file is corrupt" error. I'm used to that in X3, with Adobe upgrading the .pdf standard, but X5 should be able to read these files, right? This is the solution I'd prefer as it would be a one-step process, all lineweights and text spacing, etc. shouldn't change from the original file. At least one would think so.
If I import as a .dwg or .dxf, I get the expected dialogs, but after the font-matching dialog, CorelDraw shuts down with no explanation! Poof! I've gone back 15 years saved the .dxf as release 14 and still, poof!
I'm going to have to use X3 until this gets resolved...
Up until this morning I have been able to successfully import .eps files into Xara Pro Designer 6.
This morning, try as I might I am unable to open a new .eps file which has been sent to me.
All 'old' .eps files already on the system can be opened correctly. The artist sending me the files is not doing anything different at their end. I'm not doing anything different at my end.
To add to the confusion ... an .eps sent yesterday opened correctly. Today it does not and displays "Access violation exception at 0.09681E2C". I did 'tidy up' my folders so it's possible I may have messed up the directory for this one.
