View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to add some texture to some text by subtracting a grunge pattern from it. I've expanded the appearance of the text, so it is now shapes. However, when I place the texture shape over it and try to subtract it from the letter shapes, it only leaves me with the first letter.
Is there another way to do something like this? I would rather not have to keep subtracting the pattern from each letter individually. I've tried ungrouping the letters, then uniting them in the Paths panel, but it doesn't seem to be working either.
This Q must be very old. Why can´t someone invent a sigle button for this I have tried all the things by the book but still when I try to lay text image with white background over an image the white is still there althoug I made it transparent. tried to sa for web as png-8, png-24 and gif. nothing works. To use magic wand gives bad result when applied to text? So what can I do? I am trying to place text over image. I know I could write it over the image but I need the text as a transparent layer some place else.

I'm trying to do the opposite...I'm trying to cut the text into the shape of the image.
When I try to use the clipping mask with the text over the image, it will not give me the option of the clipping mask. When I put the image over the text it then gives me the option, but cuts the image into the text....

Question: what's the best way I can get this strip?
In Photoshop, I would probably just create a new image of the length of the strip and then fill with the color I need and then copy and paste onto the image .

I'm trying to create a picture which has a background image and some text on it.
Since the image has different colors, the textcolor should ajust to the underlying image.
If the image color is dark, the color of the text sould be light or the other way round.
I am trying to save text as an image.
I've typed in the text in the color that I want. I've clicked on the magic wand, clicked on the white space and I get the checkered background. But it also covers my text and then when I try to use the saved image, it's all completely transparent.
How do I do this so that the text shows up, but the background remains transparent?
I need to remove the '.com.au' from this jpeg version of a logo I have to use it for a magazine print file I am working on in indesign. I have opened the file in Illustrator (it is a very large file because it was designed for outdoor sinage.) and I thought I had better ask about the best way to do it without it affecting image or print quality.

So i placed the png files and image trace it with high fidelity photo as my preset.
I tried out all the preset,mode and so on,but it changed my smoke effects.That's why i chose high fidelity photo,bt i can't check the ignore white box, i can't remove the background.I tried low colour.but the smoke part become white colour ,obviously when i change the background colour.
Second method that i used was image trace(high fidelity photo)>expand>ungroup>delete the white part..but it doesnt work...
When adding/subtracting from an existing selection I often use the wrong option in the selection module in the tool bar. I understand the theory behind the selection process in principal. However, I often end up doing the opposite. Any technique to add/subtract from an existing selection that is more effective than using the instructions suggested by the software help menu.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAutoDesk 2014 . I am currently trying to design in iphone case. So I downloaded a replica iPhone from grab cad:
[URL]
I imported it and formed a solid around it, now I am trying to subtract the phone from the solid so it perfectly fits within the case. It will not let me subtract it though because the phone is a reference block and the square around it is a solid.
I have some elliptical solids that were created using the 'loft' command. there are several that form a 'draft tube'. Basically, it is an upside down funnel that bends.
Anyways, I cannot get the sections of the draft tube to union. Also, Autocad will not subtract most of the draft tube solids from the building solid.

I have a solid that was created by extruding a regioned profile. I have made a lofted item (Yellow), that I will have to subtract from the solid (Green) to create a hole. When using the subtract command, I recieve the following error.
"The selected surface was ignored. Surfaces cannot be subtracted from solids or regions. At least two solids, surfaces, or coplanar regions must be selected."
I have tried convtosolid as well & to no avail.
I am beginner at 3D modeling, I have to solids and trying to subtract them. I have done it many time on this particular drawing but for some reason it is not working now. Here is my command prompt
Command: _subtract Select solids, surfaces, and regions to subtract from ..
Select objects: 1 found
Select objects:
Select solids, surfaces, and regions to subtract ..
Select objects: 1 found
Select objects:
Dimension disassociated.
Here is an image of what I need to subtract. Why is it not working?
I have some round PNG icons where the pixels are either fully opaque or fully transparent. They look fine on a white background but are no use on a dark background.
E.g. see the orange icon attached. Ideally, the edge of the round icon would be semi-transparent orange so that it would merge nicely into either a light or dark background.
So, is there any tool in the GIMP that can correct the feathering? I.e. subtract the white from the pixels to leave a semi-transparent orange.
I.e. convert...
pure-white -> fully-transparent
light-orange -> semi-transparent fully saturated orange
fully saturated orange -> leave unchanged

I've created a list and want to subtract all the values within it from another variable, and assign it to a new variable. How do I do it?
Basically, I ask for ground level (assigned to variable G1), and then any number of depths beneath that (assign to list LVLLIST), and I want to return the value of the bottom point. So it's all the values in LVLLIST added together and subtracted from G1. And assign it to a new variable BASE.
For example,
G1 = 650.00
LVLLIST = (1.23 23.26 0.13 50.23)
(setq BASE (- G1 LVLLLIST))
