Photoshop :: CS6 Curves Options Greyed Out After Using Crop Tool?
May 31, 2012
after using the crop tool in Photoshop CS6, the Presets and RGB channels options are greyed out on the curves adjustment layer, IF that layer's Properties are displaying at the time. I find I can get the options back if I open and close Curves Display Options.
Â
I am running Windows 7 x64, AMD Radeon HD 5800 with latest drivers (same problem with older drivers).
I've spent some time designing a chart using the table tool. Now I want to adjust some column widths and add some text.Â
However, the mouse keeps trailing a small table icon, and all it will let me do is insert another table. I can't enter text, or highlight a row or column, for example. Most of the right mouse click options are greyed out.Â
How do I change from this mode for the mouse, with the Table icon switched on, to other modes where I can do other things with the table I have already created?(If I create a new table below this existing table, all is well. However, I can't grab the content in the earlier table to paste it into the new one.)
in order to blend my image into my black background web page. When using the crop tool to drag it only makes a portrait type square not a landscape type one (unlike the "rectangular marque tool" which does as i want. Secondly all the options are greyed out in "layers"
I'm following a Julieanne tutorial on using Lens Blurs (HERE at 3:36) Basically, adding a 'Field' 'Iris' or 'Tilt-Shift' blur to an image that I've converted into a Smart Object. I've followed each step but when I go to the blur filters in the 'Filter' drop-down, the top 3 new filters mentioned above are greyed out. If I don't convert the image into a smart object, they're accessible but not with the image converted into a smart object as per the tutorial.
Just installed Photoshop CS4. Few problems I'm noticing: - On startup, most menu items under all the top menu are greyed out. It starts with the marquee tool selected, and if I select another tool (like the selection tool),the greyed out items (like File->Open) work and stay working. - I can't close PS CS4 after startup if I don't first select a different tool other then the default (marquee) - I installed a couple extensions via the Extention Manger and they do not show up under Window->Extensions (it's greyed out always). I've uninstalled and reinstalled, did all my Vista Ultimate updates (including SP1). Any thoughts would be appreciated. I've got a top end (well was last year) video card, lots of ram and disk, etc..Dell XPS410 system loaded. Â
When I use File/Open everything is greyed out because the Enable field is blank. I can't find any place to set this field permanently to All Readable Documents. Â Secondly, when I use Save As, Photoshop wants to save my image in a .eps format unless I save it as JPEG Stereo.
In the old days, one could just use the crop tool and, while drawing crop lines, check the perspective box if you found that you needed to change the perspective. With CS6 if you start with the crop tool, and find you want to change the perspective, you have to change tools to the new perspective crop tool. In the process, you have to tell the newly opened dialog box that you don't want to crop, to get to the perspective tool, which now has reset to its defaults. You've lost your cropping and you have to start over.
So, I absolutely love a lot of the changes I've come across so far. I am very happy with the crop tool changes except for one thing. I work on hundreds of B/W headshots at a time where all I do is crop>curves. Up until CS6, when in the crop tool it would still show tone info in the info pallette. Now it shows nothing. This puts a crimp in my workflow because I either have to open the curves dialog or switch to the eyedropper tool to see if I need to apply curves. I have noticed that if I hide the crop area it will revert to showing the info .  Also, with the curves dialog I am going to complain about something that started with CS5. The 'click and drag in image to modify curve' feature is pretty cool but it should respect my option settings. I work with it displaying the amount of pigment but the click and drag feature doesn't respect this setting.  As I said small issues (especially the second one) but it would be nice to get them changed.
When I select text I can't apply any changes to it until I convert to curves. I have tried selecting using the select tool and text tool - neither makes a difference until I convert to curves the everything is available
I have just installed paint.net as a first time user on Win 7. I inserted a .jpg file which I wanted to crop, but the crop button is greyed out. Also is there a way to search for multiple words in the search box? I tride a word + word but did not work.
When i open the control bars dialog the options for changing icon size are always greyed out. Sometimes the menu item for control bars is also greyed out had to close Xara just to access it again. how to control icon size other than at one point it says you can. The actual image it shows in the help files also have all the options for icon size greyed out.
Say I click on a line, and then go to the properties inspector to adjust its length. When I scroll down to "geometry" the options are greyed out and I can't adjust them. (see attached image)
It was working fine, and then the other day they were randomly greyed out, and I cant figure out how to get it back to normal. I don't know if I accidentally changed some setting or what, but it's like this on every object I click.
I am on a MAC OS X 10.8.5. I am running Illustrator CC 17.0.0 I started a new document and created my work. I could not save as or export. There are times when the SAVE button is also greyed out. (see screenshot). I was fortunate there was a script that saves the files as a PDF under SCRIPTS. It does not matter if I start a new file or open an old one. I do not have file menu choices. I checked for updates and it states I am current.Â
I am a labtech at a community college and look after 48 mac pros in which the students use the entire creative suite. (I only mention this becuase any answers need to consider variations in system settings or photoshop settings. college students get into everything!)  But the issue is when you select the crop tool and enter a custom constraint and crop  The image size is sometimes a full 2 inches off of what you set as a crop?! I havn't run into this before
[I do know you can use the drop down box and use {size and resolution} but I want to know why it doesnt work under custom and unconstrained]
The crop to pixel dimensions is no longer available in Camera raw 8.1. I have always used this option when creating slideshows to put on a DVD. Where has this option gone? Why?
I have a profile that has a 25' VC (please see attached jpeg) and want to put my PVI Station and Elevation but it doesnt fit in 40 scale (I need it to be in 40 scale). Is there a way I can only change the style for small vertical curves without changing my other styles?
when I select the crop tool, my image disappears during the entire crop process. I can only see the image in the preview pane. Why is this happening? I am using the most current version of Lightroom, and I am on a PC.
I am missing a crop tool which can rotate the crop rectangle. Similar to photoshop's tool. I found no way to rotate the crop rectangle in gimp. How do you cut out something from an image if it needs to be rotated while cropping? I tried rotating first then cropping but it does not give me enough precision so I end up with transparent areas at the border.
I am having a problem with the crop tool. It will not crop the area I want; it goes to a point and stops. It's as if it has a mind of it's own and I can't direct it. I thought it might be the mouse so I took it apart and cleaned it, and then I put a different mouse in. It still does the same thing.
I am having a weird issue whenever I make a selection with the pen tool and right click and make it a selection. The selections (dancing ants) go around the outside of it. I know to hit Shift+Ctrl+I and it inverses it normal.
in PSP X3 I got several options when I selected the crop function. I saw and could change the count of pixels in X and Y direction and so on. All this options have gone in PSP X4. Or is there a setting I have to change?
