I have this crest thing here that I need to cut out so there is no background to it. I have managed to get the background transparent, but when I print there is a square of incorrectly printed colour around the image. I have tried converting it to an editable shape but still get this problem.
I have been working on a book cover for a client and was asked to modify a capital letter in the chosen font. The letter "S" had a curly q at the top that needed to be removed. I converted the letter to an editable shape and deleted the offending nodes. Along the way I had to break the points and then reconnect. When I broke the points, Xara split the shape into 2 layers for some reason so I could not rejoin the points later. I ended up combining the layers and was able to rejoin the nodes that way.
The problem I had was that when everything was reconnected, I could only color the outline, the shape would not fill. I ended up having to export as a PNG to Photoshop, created an adjustment layer and painted it in. Everything looks great BUT I would have preferred to just reconnect the nodes and fill the letter in Xara.
Is there a way to convert text to an editable shape?
I have a font that I am thinking of using for a project; the font is near to what I want but still requires modification on some letters. I've tried the 'convert to editable shape' function but it has no effect. (I'm not referring to stretching or squashing or distorting the text; I need to bring up point handles.)
I have a jpg image that has a table of contents on it. I want to slice it horizontally by each topic (8 topics) so I can export the eight new images. Eventually I will be inserting the images into Word, and will hyperlink each topic slice to a page in the document. The Word document will then be converted to an eBook. So far I've only been able to slice the image by overlaying a rectangle on the TOC image and using; Combine shapes/subtract command or crop the original image 8 times. There must be a simpler way. Ideally I'd like to just cut the one image with 7 horizontal slices, so I can easily piece it back together in Word. I looked at the image slicing function but couldn't figure out how to have multiple names on one image. I have GD 7.
I am trying to cut a piece of the enclosed text/image. It is an h and I want to simply cut the the curly part of the h at the end so I can attach it to the end of another text f, but with me using a rectangle and the Clipview technique to do this I am getting a larger space for the entire image so when I attempt to change the colour the whole rectangle's colour changes.
how I can simply trim the end/curly side of the h without getting rid of the png style effect?
I have downloaded an eps file, which I need to cut. I use a graphtec ce5000-60 cutter, and a plugin called cutting master 2 in order to use coreldraw.
when i select application launcher and choose cut / plot, it opens cutting master. when i do this, it only shows the 2 outer lines of the logo i need to cut. I have attached a screenshot so you can see exactly what I mean. I have tried lots of things to recitfy this, but as a complete beginner with this software, I really dont have a clue.
This is something that has bugged me for ages. Sometimes i have real problems making a circular hole in another shape. I would normally use 'back minus front', but when i do this a lot of the time Corel adds the nodes into the shape but it doesn't actually cut out the area. Hopefully the graphics here will explain this better.
So i want to cut the three white circles from the blue background, but you can see the results:
The odd thing is this doesn't always happen. If i just draw a square and a circle, and cut one from the other, it works fine. Also, is there an easy way to 'punch' out the nodes that it has left in there to make the hole in the shape?
How do I turn a bitmap into editable shapes in Xara Designer Pro X. i.e. In my case have a screenshot of an website, and I want to get Xara to intelligently turn it into editable shapes so that I can do clean experiments on changing the colours of different areas etc. I remember that there used to be a tool about 4 years ago in a previous version of Xara but I can't find it.
I just read the thread the thread "...plus ask about erasers" but it doesn't answer my question about combining shapes to remove unwanted portions - or at least I didn't quite understand it. Here's my issue. I've created a nice "background" image with ripples and live effects, but it has gaps, and isn'tthe right shape. I need to erase parts of it and clip it to the right shape, but every time I try to do this using the slice tool, it puts the gaps back into the image! Attached is my image and the shape I want to clip it to.
I just tried converting the ripple shape to a bitmap copy and then slicing the shape - that doesn't get me the rippled effect I want - just the shape I already have. Then, I tried just creating the water ripples in my shape - but again that leaves gaps and when I try to "slice" them away it does all kinds of weird things to the shape..
Cs6 here.... I am trying to cut out a simple shape to allow the area under the shape to be trasnparent or Alpha. Like a Mask. Except when I use the Mask it does at it should do and mask the area where the shape is and MASKING or removing the areas not under the mask. I tried Compound path but I am not getting any result from it. My shape stays right on top of my work and does not "cut it out" to allow the Background to shine through as an alpha channel. See pics for clarity. I want to reverse this where the circle is cut out and the rest stays visible...
I want to make the A shape as if it was composed from the grouped hexagons from B. the hexagons from B are grouped and the shape from A was made from two elipses and function Minus Front prom pathfinder.
I've tried all the functions from pathfinder in all ways but some don't give a result(I don't need explanation for this) and some do not work as I wish.
I need to divide a shape, say ellipse or similar, into 1 or 2 parts and then color the parts different colors and stroke the borders of each part. I don't want to cut the shape up, just keep it as a multi-colored object.I've tried scissors and similar tools but they cut and this is not what I want.
I am trying to create a compound shape from a compound shape I have prepared.
The first part works okay. I can combine the hexagon-compound-shape I have created from multiple hexagon shapes.
I then want to cut away the edges on a part of the compound shape (using a box of 4 rectangles), which is supposed to give me a rectangle with only the lines from the compund-shape inside this rectangle (image 1).
But when I cut away the box around my hexagon-compound-shape (using the Pathfinder window), the hexagon-compound shape inside behaves strangely, with only some of the lines showing and other lines missing (image 2).
I would like the rectangles to simply just cut away the lines that the rectangles are covering, and leave behind the lines in my hexagon-compound-shape, as they appeared in image 1, and not having hexagon-compound-shape changing which lines appear and disappear.
A simple editable mesh object, a piece of terrain, which has standard texture on it an no modifiers, just some UV's on channel 1.
Whenever I add "edit poly" modifier or convert it to editable poly, additional geometry will be created. Statistics show that only vertex count of the selected object goes up about 6x but no additional faces are generated. This not the case when check on a sub-object level, there are lot of additional faces created. I've never seen this happen, jumping between edit poly and edit mesh has been easy without any errors like this.
I've tried the same model with 2013 as well - same results. Also tried collapsing the object, removing uv-mapping, different materials, attaching the mesh to empty box, etc, garbage collection, exporting it to obj and importing - even then same thing happens.
I am making a video in Nero Vision 10 and need to cut out the screen of a tv so that I can layer the TV over an image/video so it looks as though it is on the screen. I enclose a screenshot of the project. 'Transform-tools-crop' only cuts in straight lines so I wonder which device I should use which can cut out an odd bespoke shape? You can see in the uploaded image from the project how the image currently cannot fill the frame without covering it.
Paint.net has everything I need in an image editor, except for the way it handles text layers. It would be nice if text would be a special kind of layer, which allows you to change it after doing some other work on a different layer. Right now if you want to change text you have to redo it.
i use the Photo Grafic designer 2013, how do I cut out a shape. For example I want to cut out a car and get rid of the backgound so that I can use the image of the car somewhere else.
1. Is it possible to add more than one fill to the same shape i.e two elliptical fills to a shape.
2. When you add the shapes together how do you maintain the fills in each shape - I have 3 shapes that i have 'played with' all with one fill (so far !) when i add the shapes together they combine to form a single shape but with only one fill
If I type in something like "Book" then highlight it with the selector tool. Then go to Arrange> Convert to Editable Shapes and go back and unclick/click it has not changed into an editable shape.
URL....i dropped it into xdpx ungrouped everything extracted the france shape and tried to fill it.i check and it is definitely a closed shape.i can manipulate the outline as normal but nothing i do fills it it's definitely not transparent to remedy this i draw a square under it, select both and subtract shapes this gives me a square with france cut out of it then i draw another square inside the former square but outside the france outline i move the square underneath, select both and once again subtract shapes finally i have my shape filled as i require.
What is the easiest way to create a triangle shape in DP7? I'm creating a diagram of button mapping for a PS2/PS3 controller. I'm hoping I don't have to draw one free hand.
My mindset doesn't work properly with shapes - more with lines and curves from point A to point B.
My normal usage of Xara is for banners and posters etc. not art or technical drawing. Anyway, I wanted to create a specific shape in Xara - it's not that I can't create it otherwise (it's very simple to create in CAD and export as PDF - import into Xara), it's that I can't create it in Xara - No matter what I try I cannot create this exact shape. I say exact specifically because I can close to fudge it, that's not the point. How would I go about creating this shape exactly.
under Photo Clone Tool, there are a few comments, which I'm not sure if they're conflicting or I'm not reading them correctly, but I cannot seem to be able to change the clone shape...:
"After you've drawn your freehand clone shape, you can adjust the smoothness of the line. This is exactly equivalent to the Freehand tool smoothness control. This is only active immediately after you've drawn the clone shape. If you edit the clone outline using the other tools such as the Shape Editor, this control become disabled."
and
"Clone shapes are normal vector editable shapes, and once selected you can switch into any of the normal line or shape editing tool to make further adjustments of the outline."
and
"A photo with clone edits, is stored as a new 'Photo Group' structure. This acts like a normal photo for many purposes (you can resize it, rotate it, enhance it etc, and it will act as a single photo object). But using 'select inside' (Ctrl+click) or using the Page & Layer Gallery to view the group structure, you can select and edit the individual clone objects within the Photo Group."
I created this video to achieve this using Xara P&GD. The video is here and the .xar file you need is attached.
This video shows how to create an angle based object for visual presentation, any object created with this method should not be used in manufacturers drawings where precision is paramount.
I have a shape (an Open Book) that I would like to Fill the two Open (showing) Pages with Text -I thought of just making a smaller than the page text box under page shape for each page; but, then I thought I'd check with You Pros here and see if a Shape could have a 'Text' Fill...?
I'm trying to add text on both sides of the diagonal line. I want the text to be screen filling, so what I'm trying to achieve is two triangular shaped text boxes.
