Right-click drag on an object is a neat way of quickly cloning an object.
If you do this on an object that is part of a group (by using CTRL click to select inside first) then you see the clone of the object as you drag it but it disappears the moment you let go of the mouse button.
I had the same problem with X5 - then went back to X4.Anyway to fix this problem in X6.

As I remember somewhere read that there is some way of it without ungrouping, however now reading the Designer Pro help it seems that is needed
To add more objects to a group
Select the group.
Ungroup ("Ctrl + U")
Select the extra objects.
Group again ("Ctrl + G")
Basically this group is a repeating object on several pages so maybe would not touch that with ungrouping, but of course if there will be no other choice
Since it's new version Xara asks me which colour I'd like to replace when I drag a colour to an unselected object that has a gradient fill. With Xara 8 you'd have a clue which colour you'd replace for the icon would chance (an arrow with a little block over or under another tiny arrow).
XDP9 also gives this feedback but once dropped comes up with a dialogue where one can choose which colour you'd like to have replaced. This is a nuisance, actually.
So, I'd love to have this behaviour stopped. Any settings or reg-entry that disables this?
(post scriptum: This behaviour even has it's inconsistencies: dragging and dropping a colour over an object with a gradient fill brings up the dialogue. It offers to "replace all" colour but when you select that option it refuses to do that and just replaces the selected colour (the top one).
If you click a colour in the colourline with a gradient filled object selected the dialogue also shows but when one chooses the "replace all" button it does what it says and replaces all colours except the line colour (which should have been replaces as well)
Illustrator CS4
I'm not exactly sure what happened, but suddenly my Type Tool can not select type by double clicking or click and drag any more.
I'm using Illustrator CS4 (14.0.0) on a MacPro with OSX 10.6.8.
I've been working in PS CS6 a while now and notice a consistent behavior, different from previous versions: it does not recognize the first click, after choosing a selection tool from the tool panel.
Try this:Select "Rectangular Marquee" tool, using the tool panel.Move cursor over document and click-n-drag. The tool does not work. It must be clicked a second time to work. When selecting the tool using the keyboard shortcut, this does not happen.
I have determine that my AutoCad 2009 will allow me to drag/drop layers to an existing Group Layer Filter, but it will not allow me to right click on the Group Filter>Select Layers>Add. Once I go to the model space an select layers then "enter" no layers are added to the Filter Group and it gives me an error message that says "unable to modify layers while another command is active".
View 0 Replies View RelatedI routinely add paths to existing Live Paint Groups, by dragging a path that is outside the group, into the LP group. But AI won't let me drag the "selection icon" from a nested layer, into an existing LP Group. Why?
It seems I'm requesting the same action, but AI won't allow the icon to be dragged into the group. I have to either open the layer and drag the objects directly, or drag the objects into the main layer, then into the Live Paint Group. I think this is an interface flaw.
FYI… I realize I could jump into the Live Paint Group using Isolation mode, but that takes extra steps and makes the template less useful.
Besides using the bracket keys to resize brushes, you are supposed to be able to hold down the Alt and Control key to drag sideways to make a brush larger or up and down to make it softer. This is on Windows.
For some reason, when I do this command, my cursor changes to moving a selection and leaving a copy.
When I hold down just the Alt key, I get the eye dropper tool and when I hold down just the Control Key, I get the move - four way arrow.
I must have changed something in the keyboard shortcuts, but I don't see the option to change that command back. My Brush Resize shortcuts still work the the two bracket keys.
I'm new to Maya, so this is likely something I'm just missing or that I've done without realizing it, however...
I've created a scene with a few polygonal objects. As an example, imagine a house with plants around it and a cloud above. The plants are spaced evenly along a curve, and the cloud is also made using a Paint Effect with a Modifier around it to control it's shape using slight forces, etc.
However, when it's done and I select the entire group of objects to drag to a different position, weird things happen. The plants seem to move much more quickly in that direction, so that soon they're no longer positioned where they should be at the base of the house, and the clouds move in the opposite direction from where I'm dragging (i.e. down not up). What I'll call the 'normal' polygonal objects (e.g. the house, car, etc.) all move fine, but I cannot figure out how to fix the other items so everything maintains its relative position, or lock the whole scene together to move as a group.
I've tried to combine them, and even 'parent' everything to the house, but I suspect I've changed something like a control handle position or rotated something that now moves opposite the normal xyz directions.
I am using the stamp clone tool. I can copy the area but can't figure out how to "click and drag" the area I want to remove.

I'm running CS5 on a Toshiba laptop. Tried to check for updates, but got "server might be down" error. I restarted the computer several times, hoping.... no change. The folder for Lightroom print templates is empty. Also, when trying to set up a custom layout, I cannot click-and-drag photos from the filmstrip to the layout. View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running Photoshop CC 64 on a Windows 7 64 machine and am only able to open files in Photoshop by going to File->Open. Double-clicking from Explorer doesn't work and i can not drag/drop files into the open application window or taskbar icon. Right clicking on files and selecting "Open with" also doesn't work.
I checked file associations and made sure to choose CC 64. If I right click on the shortcut and choose "Run As Administrator" which I have to do in order to get files to open between Lightroom and Photoshop (both need to be Run As Administrator), I'm still unable to open from Windows Explorer. However, if I check the box to "Run this program as administrator" in the shortcut's Compatibility tab, I can double-click to open from Explorer but am prompted with a UAC warning every time. Dragging/dropping into the open app still doesn't work.
Opening between Bridge and PS works as expected so long as both programs are "Run As Administrator"
Puppet Warp is a great tool. But sometimes I want to isolate an area and only rework that spot, while keeping everything else in place. To do this I have to go around clicking everything to pin it down. I'm wondering if there's a way to automatically pin all possible points, or click-and-drag to create pins at all intersecting points of the web.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using CorelDraw 12, and recently when I try to drag a drawing, I do a left click and drag. But in doing so, depending on how far I move the object, and how long I hold the left click down, it will just continue making duplicate copies of my object. So as I drag the object, it is also copying. I have had to restart my computer to get it to stop, but this is getting old.
how to disable the drag copyiing? Everywhere I have looked, I find that people are right-clicking, so to clarify, this is a left click issue with my mouse.
Am I missing something or has shift-drag / click for deselecting been removed from C3D 2013?
Is this a variable I can re-enable? Or is there a hotfix for this?
I'm using CS5. When I click on an object within a group containing only that object, appearance tap shows the group's appearance. I can't select the object when the group only has one object. So if I want to modify the object, I have to ungroup or add additional object into the group.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a drawing of an airplane, it has lots and lots of objects. I need to change the color of a bunch of these objects without affecting their stack order.
In a simple example, the left wing and the right wing need to be blue, but the fuselage in between them needs to stay white. If I group the wings, it moves them both on top of the body.
Is there any way to re-color all my airplane parts with one click without moving them all to the front?
I can't seem to click and drag an image with the mouse when using Full Screen Preview under the Edit Tab.
I see the hand icon and the scroll bars when the whole image can't fit on the screen but when I left click it's like I hit the Esc button.
Clicking the scrollbars will work but isn't as convenient. Under the Manage tab it works correctly. I have reset the workspace with no luck.
I use this feature a lot and would like to know if others have this problem.
The problem existed in X5 SP2 and now X5 SP3.
I know I must be doing something wrong but I've never had this problem before. I am trying to place a line on my worksheet by dragging it from the line gallery. Nothing happening. I can select it and see it drag, but as soon as I release the mouse button it disappears. Also tried using the "apply" button on the gallery.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a web page and the index says to drag and drop a color to the pasteboard. Sounds easy but I can't get it to work. I can only drop a color on the page background. I want to match my pasteboard and page background. I'm using Graphic Designer 6.
After I posted I was shown similar threads which seemed to say that this is not possible in this version. I guess I will be looking forward to upgrading to WD7
If I have some items that are grouped. In XDP6, I used to be able to double-click on one part of it and edit the colors etc. If text was grouped, then you could double-click on the text and edit that.
Well, in XDP7, if you double-click on a part of grouped objects, you are now taken to another page called 'Edit Inside...'
I don't want to be taken to another page because the things I wanted to be able to see at the same time are on the original page.
Is there a way of stopping this annoying 'Edit Inside..' page opening up?
Is there an easy way that I am missing to create lines around a group? For example, when I want a rectangle with rounded corners on only one side, I usually just make 2 separate rectangles, one with rounded corners, one square, then group them together. However, when you put a line around it it also makes a lines where the two meet each other. I have always worked around it by adding another square rectangle between the 2 with no lines, to cover up the lines. Am I missing something obvious?

1. Drag the adjoining X & Y at the top left corner of the ruler.... dragged down. Nothing.
2. Page properties - Grid and ruler tab... changed the Y Coordinate. Nothing again.
Made sure 'page' is not 'locked'. All pages same size. Been at it for over an hour and have decided I'm either missing something or maybe I found a bit of a bug?

For now I use the bitmap filter "Enhance" but sadly the outlines become jaggy by this.
