VideoStudio :: Using Sharpness Filter
Apr 14, 2013I've been using VS 5 for awhile. The sharpness filter, when you put it on a clip, goes from soft to hard as the clip progresses.
How do I set it so that the clip stays sharp- start to finish ?

I have long been using the program. I like the filter Video Pan and Zoom, if not a big BUT.
If the clip you select multiple control points pan and some of them coincide with the center, it is impossible to capture the crossing point for the desired position correction frame, since the engine is the player immediately jumps to the first control point. If the pre-shift frame with panels Anchor, then grab the frame with the mouse is already possible, but the trajectory of the frame after this change. The latter leads to the door frame at the edge of the screen in motion.
How to select a frame, which is currently in focus when several centers framework be at each other?
In my current project, after spliting the audio from a certain clip, the Audio Filter buttom is greyed even the audio clip is marked, so I can't use it. It doesn't happen to me in previous projects.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have some old 8mm family films which decades ago (back in 1980) were converted to VHS.The 8mm reels are long gone now, they got moldy, brittle and turned to dust, so I binned them around 1992.About 6 years ago, we converted the VHS tapes to DVD - direct copy from VHS deck to DVD recorder - so the family could enjoy the tapes again, because they were getting too old. We binned the VHS tapes about 3 years ago.
So here is my conundrum:Considering I have no longer access to the original 8mm reels, and the VHS tapes are long gone as well, during the process of copying across from VHS to DVD the 'interlace' has remained and become digitally burned into the VOB files... is this correct in my thinking?
The reason I say this is because now that I'm trying to bring these old films back to life (which were VERY dark) I can start to see the interlaced lines start to show up as I lighten them in X3.So my curious mind is now wondering:
-Is there a way I can remove those lines?
-Where is the 'de-interlace filter' in X3?
how I can retain sharpness while enlarging a graphic. I'm doubling the size of a graphic and it's getting really fuzzy. I tried the sharpen filters, but they just make it more boxy.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have started my project with the Instant Project function (middle category) and I am trying to apply the Old Film filter effect to my project but I want most of the original colour to come through. Rather than have the whole thing sepia with scratches and dust, I would like it mostly colour but with scratches and dust etc.
I have clicked on the strip of film that I want to edit the filter on and clicked 'Customize Filter' in the options. From there I clicked 'Duotone' and edited the picture there to how much colour I would like to show through. The problem is, when I click 'Ok', the colour hasn't changed when I go back and replay it. It is still all sepia and not colour.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using Photoshop CS3 on Windows XP. Problem: I have a large JPG image which I want to reduce considerably in size and then place in a PageMaker document, when I try to do this the image loses clarity.
How can I retain sharpness while reducing the size of the image? The image is 108cm x 81 cm at 72 ppi. I want to reduce it to about 5cm x 4cm and change the resolution to 300 ppi. Can anyone help me with this??
Normally i do camera work and edit in Pre, Ae with all the trimmings. I recently got into 3d work with the plugin that video copilot provides and now that my colleague is on holiday i'd figure i'd play around with his 3dmax and plugins. So i made an explosion in FumeFX and in itself it works fine but the "Kaboom" needs to move towards the viewers at home. This works but the smoke loses its sharpness as it progresses towards the camera.
What do i need to do here? In AE i can adjust the DOF of the camera layer and also the aperture. i'm not finding this in 3dsmax. I have positioned the camera within the area of the explosion and it should be inside the bounding box but i'm not sure. I used the standard track camera with the little target box. Didnt change a thing to the default settings.

In the new version 4.4 of Lightroom, I tried to play with the sharpness effect to produce a lens blur through a gradualted filter. But I dont see any change in the picture when sliding all the way to the left the cursor to -100. The blur effect is almost invisible. Is there something wrong in my settings that cold prevent this function to work ?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have converted to jpg some .nef from my D800 with Lightroom 4.1 at max sharpening, 150, with Capture NX 2.3.4 with max sharpening set in picture style settings only and ViewNX2 2.5.1 with max sharpening set in picture style only. Have played with other settings in "details box" of LR4.1, radius, details and masking, but the result is about the same. Please, look at this two photos, converted with CaptureNX 2.3.4 and LR 4.1: at bottom the loss of details is noticeable(the palm, the street lamp). With ViewNX2 have the same result.
Fortunately, it does not happen with all the photos, but happens. Happens in particular with the dark photos and night shots. That it is not a matter of contrast.

When processing a photograph in the Develope Module, once completed, I then return to the Library Module and notice that the same photograph is not as sharp as it was in the Develope Module.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying videostudio pro x5 and it looks very nice, but I have a problem that I think will lead to be a big limitation in the potential this software has, so I guess this is a bug or maybe I am not using it in the right way. I just hope is not that way by design
Anyway, the problem is that when I apply a filter to an animation or to an image (like PNG) that has alpha channel, I can see the filter coverin the whole frame if the clip is in the main video track, while if I move it to the overlay track the filter will only stay inside the picture, for example I've tried this with the lens flare.. please see this image (situation 1 on top and then situation 2 bellow the orange line):
I'd expect the lens flare to go over the transparent area of the clip so that it will be overlaid with the "background" main video track, but it is not. This is just an example but for example the same happens if I apply the lightning filter to a text filter or to a png..
I also have a similar concern with the free TitlerEx plugin that I've downloaded after registering: if I put it on an overlay track I can't just have the text with transparent background overlaid to the main video track.
Is there a filter for keystone correction or another product I could pre-process my clips though for keystone correction?

View 2 Replies View RelatedCan a filter be applied to just part of clip instead of the whole clip? I mean a way to easily adjust when a filter starts during the clip and when it ends. I'm not interested in anything involving splitting a clip because you really can't try out different start and end times simply this way. I thought about doing it by adding keyframes, but the few filters I've tried can't be turned off completely and leave residual effects that can be seen.
There's an editing feature in AVS Video Converter and you add effects to a video clip on a separate timeline just below the video timeline, and it's easy to move the effect on the timeline and you can change the length of the effect by dragging the ends. Is there something similar in Videostudio?
