VideoStudio :: Importing From Mini DVD?

Oct 3, 2010

I have a Sony Handycam DVD403 that works great even though it is old. Was trying to import the mini DVD into X3. In the picture below you can see that X3 recognizes it, but the import button is grayed out.

Not sure the best way to go about this. I did not want to reinstall the Sony Picture Package software that never worked real well in the first place, but that is how I was able to import it into VS11. I was kinda hoping X3 would just import it and I would not have to use Picture Package. How to import my mini DVD's? The folders are:

DCIM
Video_RM
Video_TS

Lightroom :: Importing CR2 Files On New Mac Mini?

Jan 20, 2014

I recently upgraded to a new Mac mini.  I migrated from a Macbook Pro.  It seemed to work fine at first but now I'm getting this error:

Lightroom sees them fine until I try to import.  It's not the card as I'm able to import them into the Macbook with no issues.  Could this be a licensing issue with the new Mac mini?

VideoStudio :: Mini DV Capture Options?

May 11, 2012

I have some mini dv tapes that seem to have been shot in: 4:3 720x480,DVD, Variable BitRate

I am currently in the capture video section of VideoStudio and wanted to know what is the highest quality capture format for these tapes.

From the video studio drop down it says that i can capture in the following:

DVD
DV
Mpeg
VCD
SVCD

Also under options> Video options
It has a bunch of Video profiles, should i change any of those?

My final output will be onto Standard DVDs

So my questions are:

1- What is the best above format to capture in?

2- Should i change the video options profile?

3- Ideally I would love to have the video shown/edited in 16:9 is that possible considering it was shot inf 4:3? If 16:9 is possible should i capture it differently to achieve 16:9?

VideoStudio :: Capture From Mini DV Tape?

Jan 10, 2013

I want to capture from mini DV tape, but my current software (not Corel!) requires me to use Firewire. However. my computer only has USB ports. Will Video Studio capture using USB (or do I need to buy a new computer?) My camera has both USB and Firewire outlets.

VideoStudio :: Capture Options Not Working For Mini-DV

Apr 11, 2011

I just installed X4 and hooked up two mini-DV sources to capture from mini-DV tapes. When I start the program, click the Capture tab, and click on the Options up-arrow, the options panel slides up, but it is completely blank. No place to select a source and start capturing from the devices. The devices are a Sony GV-D1000 DVR and a Canon GL2 camcorder, both connected by USB to my WinXP PC. The right drivers are installed, and the devices are recognized by Windows (Camcorder appears as a drive in Windows Explorer, etc.)

I'm at a loss. I have X3 at home and I sort of remember what that Options panel is supposed to look like, but I've never seen it totally blank. I'm traveling right now, and I need to dump these tapes to my HD.

VideoStudio :: No Picture Preview Whilst Capturing From Mini DV Camcorder

Jul 22, 2011

Using VideoStudio X4. After initial problems with installation it has now installed fine and is working well. However, when capturing video from my Panasonic NV-GS400 mini dv camcorder the film does not show in the preview window. It did at first but now does not preview. I have not changed any settings nor have I changed anything in my method of capture. The film does capture ok - capture in avi format - its just a little unsettling not being able to see it during capture. I watch it on the pull out screen of the camcorder so I can tell when to stop capture etc.

Also, when capturing, the film runs for a few seconds then stops and then starts again and the capture begins from the second start point. I never had the problem with Ulead 9 but did have it with ProX2 but wondered if that was just a glitch because I was running it on Windows 7 and it had not originally been developed for that. Apart from that the program works well even when rendering HD footage from my new Panasonic HDC-TM700.

Video Studio closes down when attempting to import it to the library, when in the edit mode. I can import jpegs or regular videos no problem. Using VSx4. This should be like using video shot with a GoPro Hero3.

VideoStudio :: Importing DV Source Into X3?

Jul 14, 2011

just purchased PaintShop Pro X3 and VideoStudio X4. I have a Panasonic camcorder which writes to mini DV tapes and has Firewire output. I previously did my editing using iMovie on an ageing Macbook. My new Windows 7 laptop doesn't have a firewire port therefore I was hopeful of capturing the raw footage on the Mac and then importing it into VideoStudio on the Windows laptop. When I try and import the .dv files created by iMovie I get the error 'File format mismatch'.

The videos play fine on the Windows laptop so I don't understand why VideoStudio can't read them.

I was thinking I could perhaps use something to convert the videos to a format readable by VideoStudio.

VideoStudio :: Importing X6 Files

I am new to using Video Studio Pro. I would like to animate my Paint Shop Pro png files or gif files with Video Studio. I figured out how to make the video work and figured out how to change the speed on individual frames. My problem is saving the project. I can only save it as a VSP file and it is too big to upload to Photo bucket. The whole animation is 15KB.

Can you change the save as file extension to include animated gifs?

VideoStudio :: Crash When Importing MOV To X3

Dec 26, 2011

I'm having with x3 when I import MOV files from an IPhone 4s onto an HP pavillion dv7 4270us laptop with 4 gb, 1.80ghz.

The playback is very choppy and almost paralyzed, while the audio does fine. Also, x3 constantly shuts down with a brief error message telling me to contact corel support.

Should I be converting these video clips before I import them into my capture folder on corel?

I'm trying to preserve quality since the iphone4s takes a pretty nice video, definitely rivals my canon dv and most HD flip cams I've seen.

VideoStudio :: Pro X5 Importing DVD With Subtitles

Feb 15, 2013

importing DVD's in VS-ProX5. I currently have both versions 12 and 15 (Pro X5) installed on my computer. In version 12, if I import or capture a DVD through the VIDEO_TS folders it will give me many options for what I want to do with the DVD Folder. It will let me see my audio options, let me choose to include or exclude subtitles and even change to a different angle, which I have never used. So a home video that I am trying to import in ProX5 does not even give me the choice! It just inserts the subtitles for me! The problem is that this time I didn't want the subtitles since my movie is in English and the subtitles are for my non-English speaking family members..Where on the new VS is the option for choosing subtitles? I can't believe it's not there and that Vs12 is more advanced than VS15..

VideoStudio :: Chapters In CDF Importing / Editing

Mar 30, 2011

I finally have my project done. I click Share, then try to change the bitrate lower it says I am 2.5gigs over. When I change it nothing happens on the left side, it still stays the same. Also it does not import my chapters that I have set in the editing mode?

I have saved it to a video file, in case it may be easier to do it that way? I have a difficult time finding it in the their programs library. X12 use to automatically import your chapters from the editing mode when they were set.

Either I am confused (which can be easy) or it is more difficult to figure things out in X3.

VideoStudio :: Importing Video Shot At Different FPS In Pro 2

Jun 15, 2010

Will I have problems editing video if some of the video is shot at 30 fps and action shots are recorded at 60fps? Do I need to import the video shot at 60 fps in a separate folder and or keep them separate from the 30 fps segments for editing purposes? How do you get the final project properties to match the inputed video if they are different? I am planning on shooting most of the video at 30 fps but would like the action shots at a higher frame rate for slow motion etc. How is this accomplished, or is it no big deal? I want to know before I shoot all the video so I don't have a problem later.

VideoStudio :: Getting Error Importing AVI Files

Jan 22, 2012

I am using Corel VideoStudio ProX4 to build a small movie and am having a problem with AVI files. When I go to Step 2 Edit, and click on the folder icon to "Import Media Files" I can see a set of mp4 and avi files I would like to use in my project.

The mp4 files open fine and play just fine. The avi files were opening fine last night, but would play in a jerky manner when an audio track was laid over them. I blew away that project and today tried to go to Step 2 Edit, Import Media files, and tried to import the avi files again now I get this message:

File format mismatch
1081:1:3

It will no longer let me import, play, edit the avi files. These files play fine in Windows Media Player so I'm not sure what is going on. I just installed Service Pack 2 yesterday, and I'm thinking this may be causing the problem.

VideoStudio :: Pro X2 - Importing VOB Files / Not A Valid DVD

Dec 21, 2010

I have multiple .VOB and other files in a "VIDEO_TS" folder that I can't import using either the "File/Insert Media to Timeline" or the "Capture/Insert Digital Media" function of this VS Pro X2 software version. In both attempted instances I am presented with a error message that reads: 'Not a valid DVD Volume. Report ID: 0x8000408fe(2302)".

As background, these .VOB originated from my own personal DVD's recording that failed to "finalize" due to an electrical disconnect with that Liton recorder, or software failure. Using the Isobuster software, and the page 3 instructions for it found on the excellent website of [URL] ..., I created the file that I'm attempting to import into VS. I don't believe this remedial step of using Isobuster is the cause of my VS problem, as the .VOB files it created are functional as proven by their playing in VLC media player software. Thus, I don't want to be chasing ghosts along that path, unless you can be certain that is where I should be going.

VideoStudio :: Error On Importing Some Files

Dec 11, 2013

Just purchased VideoStudio X6 Ultimate and I am having some issues importing files either into a time-line or into a library. I have put the different days into different directories to aid me putting a DVD together. The files are mixed AVI and JPG files and some directories will import and others will not, the files were all collected within days of one another on a holiday using the same camera. I am importing using the capture tab then import from digital media button, this correctly gives me the select directory box but when I try and import certain folders I get a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library error and a request to close the program.

The error states that "this program has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way". I have tried moving the files to other directories, split them up and even tried to import one JPG from an affected directory with the same result.

I am running Win 8, with 8Gb of memory and 1.6 Tb of free hard drive space.

VideoStudio :: Importing MotionStudio 3D Titles Into Fade In And Out

Sep 24, 2011

I'm trying the demo version of MotionStudio 3D. So far it looks very powerful and much easier to use than Graffiti. It allows you to export a project directly to the timeline in Video Studio. I wanted credits superimposed over another scene and I wanted the credits to fade in and fade out. So I put the exported titles onto track 2 in VS. I set the allignment options in VS to "fit to screen." The middle part of the clip where transparency=0 looks great. But the beginning and end, where transparency=100, instead of the title being disappearing, it turns black.

If that doesn't work, is there a way I can use VS to accomplish the same fade-in / fade-out of something on track 2? You can specify transparency for the clip on track 2, but that appears to be just one value for the entire clip, not something you can modify with keyframes.
