VideoStudio :: High Definition Editing

May 23, 2011

I have just bought a High Def camcorder hoping to get a better picture result onto DVD. I have been using VideoStudio 12 (pro2) for some time now and have only transfered normal camcorder video onto DVD in the past. Do I need to do anything different in the editing/ DVD stage to gain the benifit of High Def ? and would using a Blu Ray disc change anything? Can I get recordable Blu Ray discs, and do I have to have a High Def / Blu Ray recorder on my laptop to get the result I need?

Photoshop :: High Definition Photography Editing

Oct 21, 2012

I am purchasing a new computer and whether nVidia or AMD would be better for use with Photoshop CS6. In my previous computers, I've only ever had an integrated video card and they worked okay enough with Photoshop. But now I have the opportunity to purchase a computer with an nVidia/2 Gig Vram or an AMD Radeon/1 gig VRAM video card.

I know so much depends on the cpu speed, ram, whether or not you have multiple hard drives, etcetera. What I want for all the other components of the computer, but I have no working knowledge of video cards.

I use Photoshop for photo editing and I also want to eventually use it for High Definition Photography editing.

GIMP :: How To Make Images HD (high Definition)

Jul 24, 2013

how can I make my images HD (high definition) in Gimp? like there are HD TVs I want to make my images have an HD look to it. I know it is possible to convert SD to HD because I've seen old sports games that were played before HD TVs were invented and the game was converted into HD. although it is not the same as if it was originally recorded in HD

whether the image looks like a SD to HD conversion or looks pure HD, it doesn't really matter to me...

how to I make my images look HD?

GIMP :: How To Process Drawings To Scanned Into High Definition Image

Mar 13, 2011

I love to draw, I would like to use my drawings on some iPhone game. I am wondering how I can process the drawings I scanned into a high definition image? I do my drawings in old fashion paper and pencil way, once The drawings were scanned, the resulting images look very rough, for example, the lines are showing the pencil marks, a straight line has a few bumps in the middle, and circles seem a bit off, is there a way in Gimp to do some fine tuning on the images?

Photoshop :: Editing Low-res Proxy Than Applying Changes To High-res

Mar 1, 2012

I'm developing one continuous image for a large wall that will be seen from about 1-2 feet viewing distance. It has to be about 100 dpi. My image is currently 21,600 x 8100 pixels at 8 bits CMYK. It may get bigger. I don't have to do much manipulation, but a lot of it is using brushes and the smudge tool.

2 issues:

1) I have a 12-core Mac Pro with 24GB RAM. The smudge tool is sloooooow when working on this image (like one smudge at max brush size takes 15-20 seconds to take effect).

2) IS there a "warp mesh" tool that I can use in place of the smudge tool?

Is there a way for me to edit a lower-resolution version of this image, then apply the changes I made to the high-res version? then I can use the smudge and brush tools and finessé my work without the machine bogging down, and the imagery will look correct. I'm looking for a way to use these tools more in real time while working with this big image.

Photoshop :: Editing High Resolution Photos Based On Lower Ones?

Jun 10, 2013

I have taken 500 photos (in highest resolution, JPG, each ~5 MBytes) and want to crop them individually. With fewer ones I opened eg 30 at once, made my changes (eg cropping) and exported/saved these images via an action. But this method -- esp. opening the files -- took some time even on a "faster" computer, 16 GB RAM.Now the idea (or wish ):

1st step: decrease the dimensions of the images (maybe 840 x 540)
2nd: opening eg 60 at once (much faster...)
3rd: editing/cropping picture by picture

and in the last step: let PS do these changes on the original / high resolution images automatically..Are there plugins or other methods (or programs) for doing this?

Few years ago I tried programs like URL.....But the handling for selecting the area  to be cropped was not very comfortable as it is in PS

VideoStudio :: Does X4 Work With High End HD - AF100

Jun 17, 2011

I've used VS for the past 6 or 7 years with various cameras. I would like to continue using it as I've become quite attached to it, but now I am considering upgrading to a very powerful camera by Panasonic. I was going to go with the HVX200a but it uses P2 cards and the DVCPRO HD codec which I know for a fact is not compatible with VS. So the HVX200's out but the AF100 [URL] uses the AVCHD codec which VS supports.

I want to know if VS will take the AF100's video files at 1080p 30 and 1080p 24 given the right computer (I'm getting a desktop specifically for this).

I've done a bit of research on here about VS's compatibility with AVCHD over the years, and I know that by now (x4) it should be very much stable but I just wanted to make sure before I go and make some serious purchases.

VideoStudio :: Cannot Save Any High Quality Videos

However now, when I want to save the final product and choose the usual WMV HD 720 option (or any other high quality option), the video saves in the lowest quality possible! I don´t know what might have caused this. Does it mean I have to re-install the whole program?

VideoStudio :: Font Defaults To Ridiculously High Setting

Nov 1, 2010

I recently had to reinstall Corel VideoStudio Pro X3 because of some missing/damaged files (long story). Anyway, I downloaded Title Pack 6 so I had some more, well, titles. Afterwards, when I tried to use the new titles, after moving them to the timeline and double clicking to edit the text the problem starts...

1) There is no text box to edit text or the text box is REALLY tiny (so tiny I cant resize it) and tucked away in the top-left corner of the preview box.
2) The font defaults to a ridiculously high setting (~150-200).
3) When I try to type something in, nothing happens.
4) When I click off the text box I get an error message saying "Font Apply Error!".

VideoStudio :: X4 - Large High Def Videos Slowly Chugging To A Stop

Mar 5, 2013

I have for 2 years fighting with any video longer than 30 mins. I recently started doing amature recordings of sporting events with 3 camera views or 3 layers of video, one audio, corss-fading and titles.

To date I have only atempted 2.

While playing the video in the edit mode or even the preview window, it plays fine for 5 seconds then starts to studder and progressively chuggs so bad its impossible to edit.

So I bought a NIVIDA 550GTX-Ti. Did not improve even the slightest.

So before I purchase X-5, the NIVDIA support people asked me if the graphics card is compatable with videostudio. I have duel core 2.4, with 2gg ram.

VideoStudio :: How To Create Ultra High Resolution Maps For Movie

Mar 24, 2013

I have for a long time struggled with obtaining hi resolution maps to include in my movies of trips I have done.

I have searched the internet for images of such maps for download and even used screen shots when using Google Earth.

I always wanted a higher resolution so that I could ZOOM in without the image becoming too fuzzy due to the fact that I was ending with an image of only (say) 512 x 288.

I am also a fan of FSX (M/S Flight Simulator) and recently taught myself how to create photo-realistic scenery which uses the TILES from Google Earth to create extra large (in pixels) images of parts of the world.

Today I realised that I could use the same to create images for maps to use in movies (I recently created an image around 5200 x 3000 pixels - the only limit to image size is how much memory you have and so using a 64bit processor and system works a lot.

It is named sBuilderX and it is available from [URL]....There is documentation within the zip file HOWEVER to create the image files for hires maps you will need to search for and download file make_photo-real_ground_textures_in_fs_x.zip which is available as a free download at [URL]...

You may need to join the web site (FREE) to enable the download.

Within sBuilderX you can choose to use Google Earth or or Microsoft Live Virtual Earth, terrain or streets. Also note that the image files are BGL files only however you can change those to JPG if required.

Hope this may have useful for few people who like to include hires maps (which they can use zoom without loosing sharpness) in their movies.

Obviously I can turn the first floor RCP on in the view and manually draw the information, but I assume these lines won't move if the walkways above move (or am I wrong?).  Also this seems slightly wrong given the amount of automation available.

VideoStudio :: Editing 3D Video In X5 (SP2)?

Can it actually be done? If I so much as drop 3D file onto the timeline and tag it as 3D (SBS L-R in my case), I get the "... lost 3D attributes..." message when I try to create a 3D file. I tried tagging a 2D file as 3D for S&Gs and got the same result. In case it matters, the files are in .avi format (and even rendering a 2D version of these makes a jumpy video, but I digress...).

VideoStudio :: Editing Very Slow In X3?

Oct 21, 2010

In X2, if I waited long enough once a video was loaded into memory, I could rewind/forward/clip to any point in the video on the timeline just about instantly. In X2, if I tried to forward/rewind/clip to a point in the timeline in the video without waiting, it would give me about 1 fps when moving the current point in the timeline, and it would also play the video at the same 1 fps--until I waited a while.

In X3, the video can play pretty smoothly just about right away, but no matter how long I wait, moving backwards in the timeline gives me about 1fps, and moving forward sometimes gives as much as 8fps--but it is never smooth. Was this behavior by design? It makes video editing a total nightmare--it takes forever to find cutpoints in the video. How screaming-fast of a machine must someone have to not get 1fps when moving backwards on the timeline in X3, and is there something I can change in settings that might offer a better framerate?

Should I re-install X2 so I can move in the timeline at a decent rate, then import it into X3 for the final output, or is there a better option?

VideoStudio :: Sag / Lag On 1080P Editing?

Jul 21, 2013

I was working for a while with VideoStudio ProX5 and I'm trying the demo version of VideoStudio ProX6 and I've got some issue...

First, my video files are .MOV from my Nikon D3100. 1920X1080 24FPS H.264/MPEG-4 Advanced Video Coding.

My computer: HP Laptop DV6 Intel Core i3 350M @ 2.27GHz. 8GB of memory. ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470. On Win7 Family Premium 64bits.

So it's a car video, cars are at street speed or lower and you can clearly see the sag of the cars. I've try different output (.avi, .mp4, .mts etc... ) from custom to the one included in the program and still sag like crazy.
