I recently purchased Pro x6. While I love the new features, something has been happening today that is frustrating. I captured some video from my Canon HG10 and placed it on the timeline. When I try to play it in the editor, a green screen appears over the video. I can hear the audio but cannot see it.

While playing DVD, made in Ulead Video, the slide show would display in full screen on any TV (for example a horizontal picture would be displayed in full screen and vertical picture would be displayed from top to bottom exposing some black background on the sides which is OK). Now I am using Video Studio Pro X3 and after I create a DVD there is a black background around each photo during playback. In other words, each photo seems to be slightly reduced in size or there is a black border around it during playback of DVD.

I am trying to render some small animated clips to be used as overlays in home movies. I am animating in a program called Poser. I animate 30 to 60 second clips rendering them over a green background (0 blue, 0 red, 255 green) and output them in Uncompressed AVI at 1280x720. When I bring them into VS6 they look great on track 1 but when I put them onto an overlay track they suddenly 'go small'; I right click and change to 'Project Size' (which I have set to 16:9) and apply the Chroma Key; this is where I begin to get the Jagged Edge effect? Especially on anything with a straight edge - for example: I have a Skull and Crossed Swords that I want to spin 360 - the sword edges become so horribly jagged, it just is not acceptable.
However, still using Poser as my 3D rendering engine, I can render a still and save out as a PNG and it will import into VS6 and overlay (as a Still) just fine. I did try rendering Each Frame of the spinning skull as PNGs and assemble the animation in VS6 and again I ended up with the jagged edges...even if this did work it would not be do-able with my 6sec clip of a waving flag (too many frames!)
Perhaps my AVI aspect size to VS6? I notice that while in VS6 I am working in only 720x480 however my final target is to burn to DVD in Wide Screen (I also would like to have MPG and/or AVI to play direct from computer on home entertainment system to TV)
A little background: I do historic reenacting at various events, shows, parties, Tall Ship events, Ren Fairs, and such. The overlays I want for various use: Title effects, overlay photos/videos within the project. Video files come from my Sony HDR-CX430V, photos from Canon SD790IS.
I have a new customer who sent me a few hundred images which one of his employees shot against a green background. It would be easy enough to remove the background, but the green is reflecting on lighter colored products (Like a gray sweatshirt) and some of the pictures are of transparent items, (like a clear, plastic cup, or a product in a clear, plastic bag).
He claims that Photoshop (Which he admitedly knows nothing about) has a "Chroma Green Remover" - You just wave your magic wand and the green disappears. He also claims that he used to send his images "overseas" to have this done and they came back in a matter of an hour or two.
I have been using Photoshop since version 3.5 and have never heard of such a technique (Using CS3 now). Is there a way to do this, or should I have him re-shoot the pics?
I had an image on a green screen and I want to cut out the person. using colourr ange leaves a lot of handwork to be done afterwards. Extract obviously works great, but does take a while. Hasn't there got to be a special way to take out green screens or blue screens?

jdi1: Why is there still no video playback in full screen mode?
jdi2: Please give us an option to start video playback automatically when browsing through files in loupe and fullscreen mode (without having to press "space" or such). Let us switch this option on or off just as needed.
Video playback is still a bit laggy. Often LR5.2 needs to load audio first while the video already starts playing. If other (even freeware) media browsers can do this without latency, why not Adobe's LR?
Gimp 2.6.6 on Ubuntu Linux 8.04.Scanning using VueScan Professional 8.5.20 with an "Epson Perfection 4490 Photo" scanner. Color profile has been built for the scanner using available photo color target from a well-known German source (can't remember name).Almost all my scanning is of postage stamps and related items -- scanning the actual physical objects, not photos of the objects.
Problem:
The stamps are currently scanned on a black background (for lack of other color possibilities; the final goal is on a black background). After scanning, the background is selected and turned to 100% black to have greatest contrast for the object. When a stamp has a postmark that crosses the edge of the stamp paper, the color of the postmark (usually dark or black) is very close to the color of the scanning background and thus when the background is selected, the selection "leaks" and "follows" the postmark onto the stamp. We have to manually exclude those "leaks" from the desired selection area.
Goal:
To be able to select the background (for change to 100% black) without any "leakage" of the selection onto the stamp objects AND without ANY non-black color artifacts remaining after changing the selection to 100% black.
Attempted Solutions:
We have tried scanning on many different non-black background colors and surfaces, but there are always some extreme-edge color artifacts remaining ... leaving a sort of "halo" effect around the stamp object.Some of this could be attributable to the particular model of scanner, though every scanner I have ever owned had a similar problem to a greater or lesser degree. The width of the "halo" usually depends upon which side of the object it is on vs the direction of travel of the scanner device.
In television broadcasting it is extremely common for somebody to stand in front of a "green screen" and for the green to be electronically replaced with some image or video, etc. (For example, the weather person standing in front of a weather map.) It is rare to see a green "halo" if everything has been done correctly and if the person is wearing the correct type of clothing fabric.
Is there some Gimp method or plug-in or other tool that will better handle this type of use?Recently poster Ron Guilmette discussed his use of "Darla-PurpleFringe.scm" plug-in to remove an artifact caused by a digital camera and subsequent processing.
Is there something like that which can be used to remove a color "halo" that results from using a "green screen" approach to scanning? (I would likely have to select different colors of "green screen" so that such colors are not included in the design of the postage stamp.
When I open up the image that I want 2 use 4 my background the image fills the (working) window. Then, as instructed, I go in2 "Layer" & import the pic w/the green screen background. But when I then go 2 "Effects" & choose/use ChromaKey (again, as instructed) the background pic is now only a small square in the upper left hand corner of the window & the rest of it is white. Therefore, my pic/finished result has a background w/a little square in the upper left hand corner & the rest is white?

If I just key it and put a garbage mask around it, I can get rid of the green and the tracking markers, but how can i get the reflections back now? Cause if I just screen the original desaturated part back on, you can still see the tracking markers.... Is the only way to first paint over the markers and then screen it back on, or is there another way? I'm on Smoke for mac 2012.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI've uploaded MPEGs from Panasonic DMC-TZ7 on HD quality. Audio works fine when playing clips and when played on Quicktime. When playing back on Project, I get a chopped pulsing noise on some parts (although they play OK as clips). I used simple fade to black transitions and trimmed clips. When I finish project, the sound was OK on the first clip but I get no sound or the odd pulse of sound on subsequent clips.
I have re-installed VS pro X3 and downloaded the latest patches but it makes no difference.
I'm using pro x4, had no problems til today
I'm using win7, and just from today, x4 has stopped giving any sound output. Playing mpg files I can see the sound levels in the mixer, but there's no output audio. I can hear mpg audio in other players, just not in Corel.
I recently transferred collection of Super8 movies from a VHS tape and burned to a DVD. Upon playback on the computer, as well as preview prior to burning, the audio on the clips worked fine. However when the disc was played on the DVD player ( tried my blu-ray player as well), there was only audio in sections where I had added an audio track. Did I miss something ?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am playing a section of a project in Timeline view. The section is marked by the Trim Markers. Starts fine but then pauses/stops when it reaches the end of the accompanying music (an mp3) rather than at the second Trim Marker. Theses two points are different because the video fades to black as the music finishes. The video should continue to run for 2 or 3 seconds more with a black screen.
I've noticed that if I select the Sound Mixer and then play the section between the Trim Markers it works fine i.e. plays up to the second Trim Marker.
Also, it seems that if I create a video of the selected part of the project this works fine too.
I just seem to be getting the problem in Timeline view when I have black video that runs after an mp3. I have checked multiple projects where I have the same effect (fade to black as music ends) and I am getting exactly the same problem. As the sound stops, so does the playback.
Background is that I am new to X3 and struggling. I had problems authoring in X3 so used X2,. Then had a problem with X2 so re-installed. Then found this problem when editing again in X3 so reinstalled X3!
When editing DV from my old mini dv camcorder, how can I get the final edit to fill the screen without the black side bars after puting on to a dvd and playing back on a 1080x1920 tv. does VS pro x4 have a setting to eliminate the black bars?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been experiencing an error message from Windows Media Player when attempting to skip ahead (fast forward) with MPEG-4 HD files that I am creating with VideoStudio Pro X5. After the new MP4 HD file is first created (this can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours depending on the length of the clip, which are between 15 and 40 minutes), I open the file to view it in Windows Media Player. It starts playing normally with no problems, but as soon as I click to skip ahead on the timeline bar, an error message displays stating "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file". In the last 10 attempts or so I have only been succesful in creating one MP4 HD file that allows skipping ahead... I am not doing anything differently (that I am aware of, at least) when I "get lucky" and manage to create a file that does not generate the error message, and after burning the last 9 hours on three more failed attempts I decided to check
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently burned video footage to DVD with VS Pro X5 (with the parameters already set in the VS Pro Burning module), and played the DVD on my DVD player...the DVD played pretty well on my player, though some "striations" or moire appeared in the background on some building sidings early on--but it didn't distort the overall play-ability of a particular sequence...
However, when I played the DVD on a friend's DVD player, the beginning of the DVD broke up and "de-pixillated," for want of a better word--though 2/3rds of the DVD's later footage played OK (and a commercial DVD played just fine on my friend's DVD player just before all this)...
That result left me very puzzled, why it should play more-or-less OK on my own DVD player, but so horrendously on another DVD player...
Is there some VS Pro (or a utility program) filter that I can run the footage through prior to/during a DVD Burn in VS Pro to get a smooth rendering of the footage?
I started to work now with HD clips captured from my new HD camcorder. At the EDIT step, the play back of the entire project is not smooth, there is no continuity of the video and the audio. After the SHARE/CREATE VIDEO FILE step, the play back runs good.
View 4 Replies View RelatedNot had this before, just put a couple of minutes clip into the timeline ready to edit and when I play through it, the video is jerky/jittery on playback. If I click on it in the library and play it without pulling it in to the timeline, it is fine, and if I click on the video without opening the programme, it also plays fine ? If you watch the timeline scrubber as the video jerks, you can see a trail of little white shadows that the scubber leaves behind as it stutters ? I have tried with other clips and it does exactly the same ! The clip is AVCHD clip, and.... I have let it create a smart proxy file before playing it.
