VideoStudio :: DV Quick Scan Standalone?

And what do you use to capture HDV?

I have VS Pro x5 and if I try to use DV quick scan, I get an error message saying :-
"Corel Video Studio Pro The program has encountered an unspecified error and has stopped functioning. Please contact Corel Technical Support and send the dump file for analysis." Followed by the path and file name of the dump file.Windows then closes the program and "attempts to find a solution" No contact details are given in the error message. From the Corel web site it appears completely impossible to contact technical support. I just keep going around in circles to faqs and knowlege bases.
I've been working though previously captured files via DV Quick Scan in Video Studio Pro X5 from a Sony Digital Handycam DCR-TRV130 NTSC. I used a firewire connection. I've been choosing captured files to burn to disc. Initially, I noticed multiple copies of some clips... starting and/or stopping at different times in the clip. I'm a little OCD, so I was looking at the original tape while choosing files... mostly to keep them in order. Anyway, I've also noticed that at least 3 clips were not captured at all. I can edit out the extra clips, but was not happy to find that other clips were not captured at all. I didn't seen anything about this on the forum. Is this a new problem? Is there a simple solution? I tried capturing the files "manually" without DV Quick Scan. I could get the clips, but there was no date stamp.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just rendered a video slide show that liberally uses pan and scan zooming for every photo and it looks like garbage. It's jumpy and jerky with almost every pan and scan. I used the highest mpeg conversion quality but didn't mess with much else. Is there something I can do to make it not do that? It seems like it gives you the option to use a different mpeg rendering engine if you want...
What a drag. It took me 2 weeks to put this thing together and the final version looks like crap.
I have a series of photos I want to make into a quick slide show. I simply want to have them show in chronological order with some music and nice transitions, maybe in a frame template. I know I can do this in V3 fairly easily and I have done a good bit of video editing with VideoStudio, but I am wondering if there is a wizard that would make something like this faster and get me most of the way there.
There was Movie Wizard in past versions that I never used because I never had anything this simple to do. Is there a recommendation for how to get 90% there in VS3?
I'm developing on a W7 64bit machine using VS2010 and AutoCAD 2010. Using COM, I've converted a VBA application into an .exe that runs but it is very slow (much slower then the 32bit VBA code used to run). Since we produce a lot of DXFs out of our 3D application, we want the conversion to be automated (hence, no more running inside of AutoCAD).
The current version just references the AutoCAD 2010 Type Library and the AutoCADObjectdbx COMs.For each DXF, the code does the following:
1. Adds new layers
2. Loops thru all entites (currently using a selectionset)
a. Changes the entity's layer based on a collection key and it's linetype to "bylayer"
b. For PolyLines and LWPolyLines, sets the constantwidth to 0
c. For all Text, changes the style to "SIMPLEX", the Scalefactor to 0.7 and looks for a special text value which indicates the drawing scale ("dscale").
3. Sets the drawing's DIMSCALE and LTSCALE to a multiple of the "dscale"
4. Scales all entities by "dscale"
5. Purges All
6. Zoomextents()
7. Saves the drawing as a *.dwg file
8. Closes the drawing
9. Logs some statistics on each file converted.
It seems as most of the time is spent in Step 2. I can obviously do steps 2,3 & 4 by reading/modifying the DXF as a text file very fast. But I would rather keep all the processing inside of AutoCAD.So here are my questions(based on using COM):
1. What additional references do I need work directly with the drawing's database?
2. Are the NET transaction examples under this category valid when going through COM?
I've zipped and attached the current project (VS2010 project) for possible reference

Just downloaded a trial of VideoStudio X4, so far so good. However, is there an option inside the program to use Intel Quick Sync or does the program does detect and use it automatically when you encode with H264?

I upgraded from CS3 to CS5 and need to be able to import using TWAIN so that I can scan at 256 colors like I used to be able to with CS3. I cannot convert to 256 colors afterwards as the quality is too poor.
I am using 64 bit Windows 7. I tried installing the TWAIN plugin in the Adobe/plugins/import folder but it does not show up in the import options after restarting PS. I wouldn't mind downgrading to PS3 if I have to.

One wide stripe moving right to left exposing the text underneath then moving back, never exposing the whole word at once, just a section. I had thought I could make a black layer over the top of the text, clear away a scection and manually move the layer in IR, but to no avail. Sorry I don't have a visual example of it for you.

Is there a way to do it in Photoshop or do I look for another app in CS4 for that purpose?
If the photo has scan lines, then it has scan lines. the lines are now a part of the photo. they're not 'on the photo' they're in it. depending on how pronounced they are, they can be minimized. if you post a copy, I'll show you how. (maybe, no guarantee it can be saved)
