I have set my video capture format to 16:9 (widescreen). The picture in the movie capture preview window is 4:3 and stretched vertically. However when the file is played it is in fact 16:9.
Is there a way I can set the preview window to display the correct aspect ratio during capture ?
Why do I allways have a 4:3 preview window ? Although the captured movie is of the correct AR, 16:9
View 14 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased VSP4 and when capturing from Panasonic camera via fire wire, the preview window remains blank but capture is successful. I can preview video on LCD screen of camera but that is all. All the settings seem to be ok. (PAL). However, the options panel is greyed out except for insert to timeline option. Also, the video properties in the options panel are all greyed out. I have a previous version VS3 on another computer which shows the preview window OK on capture. Could this be the integrated video card in my new computer or is there something else going on here?

I have Corel VideoStudio Pro X3 as well as the trial version of X4 which I have just downloaded. I am having the same problem with both versions. When I go into Capture, there is no image coming through the Capture Window, it is just black. When I hit Capture Video, it does start capturing and it does record video correctly, however when I stop capturing, the preview window turns black again.
How can I get the video to be seen in the Capture preview window?
My computer is Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit edition. I am using a USB capture device, the Diamond Multimedia VC500 One Touch VHS Video Capture USB 2.0.
No video preview during capture and did not see a cure to the problem. I just installed and updated VS X4 on Windows 7 and have the same problem. The capture goes perfectly it just does not show a preview on the screen. I tried capturing in Windows Movie Maker and it shows a preview while capturing

I have an old video on cassette that I'm trying to capture to my computer to burn to dvd. It's fine on my t.v. being played in my vhs player. When I connect it to my computer using the program Video Studio Pro X5, I can capture, and everything is functioning fine, but the tracking is off in the preview section. I've captured, and played it back, and it captures like the preview. It's got the wave at the top, and a tiny bit of it on the bottom. How to adjust the tracking, like on old t.v.'s so that the picture is centered?

I am capturing via firewire from a VHS. This worked perfectly under windows xp but is not working under 7. It seems that it does capture but I cannot preview in order to find my spot on the tape.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using VideoStudio Pro X3, and am having a lot of difficulty with the preview window.
When I play the video I have been working on, it runs the video at about 1 frame per second or so, and renders the program useless. The odd thing is, when I select an individual clip and click run, it runs at a proper frame rate.
Is there some sort of codec or driver that I am missing?

As a work-round----Change the project properties to use 1920 x 1080 and your images will be 1920 x 1080.

Compression to Microsoft Video 1 (there may be others you can use—Div X ??)

Frame Size---User Defined to 1920 x 1080

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using VideoStudio Pro X3 and trying to understand some behavior in the program. I have some AVI files which I added to the gallery. If I play the video from the gallery in the preview window, the exposure appears correct. But when I pause the video, the image becomes darker (with more contrast). I've attached 2 image captures which demonstrate. After the video clip is added to the timeline, playing or pausing the clip will also appear darker. After I trim and create a new AVI and watch both in Windows Media Player, the original is brighter and the edited video is darker. What is causing this change to the video's exposure??
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I select photos in library or on the video track they go black in preview window... nothing appears. But not all... some don't go black. This happens after working on project for 15-20 minutes. When I first start up computer they all appear in preview when selected. No problem then. Same if I shut down and restart computer. Only after working on project awhile does it happen. Also after some time working I get window saying no memory. I thought with 4 ram I could work for hours before getting any problems like this. I plug in my external WD Passport HD only for backups. And with MacShield filter turned off, still have problem. Could it be the VS Pro X5 software?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have VSP X4 Ultimate and a Panasonic TM900K. I have been recording mostly in 1080p for the best quality, but I have notice when compared to VLC or another editor, the preview window's quality is very poor. On my 1080P monitor it looks no better than a DVD. This, in of itself, is not a big issue, but it does make it hard to use VSP X4 to do fine video corrections.
The one that is is when I play down-converted videos from VSP X4 (To 7Kbps DVD) the quality is visibly worse than with my other editor. I have been testing on my playstation (just playing the mpeg 2 files via my media server) (the PS3 is set not to up-convert). When I try to do the same thing on my computer using VLC I do not see much of a difference, but VLC is doing a lot to render on the PC (de-interlacing and all).
Firstly note I am using Videostudio Pro X4.
I have noticed many times that when I add the CIRCLE transition between two video clips that when I drag the 'scrubber' along through the two clips and transition, when the scrubber goes past/through the circle transition the preview window goes blank (displays black).
If I change the CIRCLE to any other transition it displays (the transition) correctly but as soon as I put the CIRCLE back it once again only shows BLACK.
If I PLAY the project the CIRCLE transition displays correctly - it is only when dragging the scrubber that the problem exists.
Is there a known problem with the CIRCLE transition?
I'd like to know if it's possible to have a live preview when doing tethered capture in Lightroom 4.3. This seems to be a basic function. Why look at the computer screen and use Lightroom to capture the photo but still use the camera's viewfinder. You are forced to go back and forth from the camera's viewfinder to the computer screen.
Is there any way to do this in Lightroom?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Canon Rebel T4i, Lightroom 4.2 running on Mac OS 10.8.1. When I connect the camera to the computre and select Tethered Capture, I see the camera name in the tethered capture window, but the values for the settings are "--". When I mouse over the shutter button, the curson becomes a gloved hand with pointed finger and if I click on the shutter button it changes shade, but does not fire. When I look in the view finder, "Busy" flashes and I can't use the camera shutter.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI get a black capture screen when capturing with CS6 on a Windows 7 machine. I'm capturing through Fire wire from DV tape, via the VCR function of a Canon XL2 camera. I have tried restarting, etc.; also toggled the "preview video" radio from the Settings button in the capture Window. Nothing works and I need to be able to preview my video as I'm capturing. It is not good enough that the video actually captures fine. Also, I am forced to turn off Device Control in order to capture because it kicks me out of every capture (an immediate message of : "no frames captured") unless I do.

For some reason, every texture included (as well as one that I made in Photoshop), shows up in the Texturization window with a resolution of about 20 x 20 pixels. Even the simple sandy texture I made with Photoshop is displayed with poor resolution.
When I try File >> Place >> sand_texture.psd and drag it into the Swatches window, the texture isnt added no matter what I try.
I have included an image of what I see when opening the Texturization window.

How do I do this. Now of course my camera records off an SD card and I can just stick it in there and edit. The reason I am hoping I can capture video just like I can with a webcam is because the view screen on my camera no longer functions so therefore I can only point in my general direction and center up the shot in post edit.
I just bought VSx4 but I noticed it crashes as soon as I try to capture
my camera: canon HV20 -firewire connected
my OS: windows 7
I already:
uninstalled, re-installed VSx4
turned off/pc - camera
connected/disconnected camera
since I installed vsx4 I can't capture in vs x3 too.
For convenience, I use my video camera for both video and taking still pictures. For video I use use a wide frame 16:9 while capturing stills I use a standard frame 4:3 (the standard frame allows a higher megapixel). I use VS X2 for creating my home DVD's and I use Photostory 3 for my slide shows.
I've never used the still capture function on VS until today. I needed a couple of stills from the video to match with the continuity of my slide show.
I realised that my screen capture would be wide screen but I figured I could edit the photo and crop it to 4:3. What actually happens is that VS X2 captures the image and squeezes it to 4:3 so in the end I get these long images!
