Jun 29, 2012I am looking for a way to change the text style used by a table style with Visual LISP. So far I have been able to get the IAcadTableStyle object from the acad_tablestyle dictionary, but there is no property for text style. Is this even possible? Code and results are below.

We have some huge models and people seem to forget to change their visual styles back to 2D wireframe before saving and exiting drawings. Some models will crash on some workstations when trying to open in a rendered mode.
I found a lisp with a function that looked to set viewport visual styles. But it does not seem to be supported anymore. --> (vla-put-VisualStyle vport 1)

Oct 7, 2012I'm loving CS6 Illustrator, except for one thing. Image Trace. Here, Adobe seem to have taken away the two most usefull settings from Live Trace, and replaced all the presets with ones that are pretty much unusable. I almost always used either 'Comic Art' or 'Lettering' to trace hand-drawn images, but they're both gone. None of the new settings are good enough, even if I make a custom one. The main issue is that the sliders in Image Trace are for completely different things to those in Live Trace, so it's difficult to translate one set of settings into the other.
With Image Trace, I cannot get the same results as with Live Trace, and so far, have found myself having to have Illustrator CS5 open at the same time as CS6, just so I can get workable traces.
I don't know if it's possible, but is there any way to import the presets from Live Trace, or even the full tool, into CS6, to replace the new Image Trace presets?how to make the equivelant of Comic Art in Image Trace's new settings?This is a close up of a file I was trying to trace, showing the major difference in quality between the two CS versions.
Left: CS5 - Comic Art setting.
Right: CS6 - This is a custom setting, but is the closest I have come to Comic Art thus far.
As you can see, the definition of Image Trace is far lower in quality than Live Trace, giving me one large connected blob of colour rather than the distictly separate lines produced in Live Trace.
Illustrator :: Results In Image Trace Don't Match Live Trace
Aug 8, 2012I just started using CS6, jumping from CS3. A major tool I use is Live Trace, and I have custom settings for that. I cannot find a way to make Image Trace behave the way Live Trace did for black and white line drawings. The results I get in CS6 are far inferior to those I got in CS3 in terms of retaining the look of the original raster image. Otherwise, I will have to leave CS3 installed just to do my Live Trace.
Here is a sample of what I mean. You can see the quality degredation in CS6 compared to CS3. (And it's much more obvious when it's full size and full resolution.)

3ds Max :: How To Use Cubemap For Reflections When Using Scanline Renderer
Apr 9, 2011I understand that cubemaps are primarily used in realtime applications, like game engines, but is there a way to use a cubemap for reflections when using the scanline renderer? I loaded a cube map into the environment map slot, but you can see the black areas around the cross of the cube map in the reflections.
I also tried making a big inverted cube, and mapping the cube map to that. It sort of works, but the reflections aren't nearly as vivid as they were when I used the map as the environment. I disable cast & receive shadows on the cube. Not sure what the best way to go about this is.
3ds Max :: CUDA Cores Not Being Used By IRay Renderer
Apr 25, 2011I have a NVidea Quadro FX 1800 card. The NVidea Control Panel information shows 64 CUDA cores(screen grab attached). Yet the iRay message window shows 0 CUDA cores (screen grab attached).

Nov 30, 2013Just bought a MBP Retina. Maxed out with everything they've got there at Apple. Here's a screen shot of what my preferences look like. Two things stand out: 1. the GPU option says "unsupported" and 2. of the 2GB of Usable Memory, I only am using 732 mb. I had all applications closed and and no external harware plugged in. how I can use more of my memory?

AutoCAD Print / Plot :: EPlot DWG To PDF Renderer Fills Fonts And Other Entities With Enhanced Black
Feb 1, 2013I have been having this issue with autocad generated color PDF printouts having "fuzzy" fonts and some other black objects. What I have traced it to is that the PDF created by the stock Autodesk PDF ePlot renderer/driver is printing those fonts (and other things like lines with global width) in rich or enhanced black. 75,68,67,90 CMYK to be precise. When this is done without some sort of 100% K border (and sometimes even with) it leads to a blurring of the edges because the registration is never perfect. There is often even some ghosting due to the sheer amount of toner.
Some printer drivers have a way of forcing or selecting this "Enhanced Black" but I see nothing in the settings. I wonder if this can be externalized. It seems that at least fonts should almost never have this turned on.

Oct 25, 2011I use the hidden visual style when I plot my MEP drawings and I keep having this issues (sometimes it's worse than others) of piping that is on a layer that is off/frozen still blocking a visible line.
It looks like there are wipeout's going over my pipes when in fact it is a pipe not shown.

I can't draw a line under it, I can't do any command under it.
I hoped that VISUALSTYLESCLOSE would stop it.
It doesn't.
I've unlocked the Viewport.
I've Regenerated.
All the User Interfaces choice are unchecked.

Aug 19, 2013I like "Shaded with edges", and I want the edges black. I have set up the display to this setting in Application Options, Display tab (Use application Settings), and Settings button. Excellent, that's nice. (I have also mapped the num pad 6 to that style, along with 5 is Shaded with hidden edges, and 4 is wire frame).
However, In Inventor 2014 Dynamic simulation, the visual style defaults to "Shaded" (no edges). Ok, i can live with that, I guess. I'll just hit NumPad 6 and it looks good again.
Ctrl-Tab to another open file, make a change or two, come back to the DynSim and - hang on, where are my edges? I can just hit 6 again, but should I have to? I haven't ever seen this display property changed when changing between files before.

AutoCad 3D :: Realistic Visual Style Has Changed And Can't Get It Back
May 15, 2013i've been plaing with my CUI and found there were a lot more visual styles than i thought so added a few to the dashboard to try out. trouble is, a few have similar names and the same icon and now my realistic that i liked is not available.
now it's kinda semi-transparent.... before it was totally opaque. the same with my 'conceptual'...i can see far too much geometry.
btw i don't have a personal CUI or whatever the procedure is....i just modify the main one when inclined.
i've made a toolabr with ALL the listed visual styles on it and gone through them all but none of them gets it back to the opaque version.
^^^ this is in model space only. viewing from paper space it's the same as it always was.

Nov 29, 2012I cannot purge a textstyle out of my drawing. When I run purge nothing is available.
However if I select the style from the style dialog I am able to select delete and delete the style.
When I use the method on the style (vlax-invoke-method style 'Delete). AutoCAD states:
Automation Error. Object is referenced by other object(s)
The style is defenatly not in use but may have been used in the past.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Visual Style Hidden Line Scale?
Sep 13, 2013I'm trying to plot 3D objects with hidden lines. I've set the viewport SHADE PLOT property to "Legacy hidden" and set my visual style to 2D Wireframe with 2D Hide-Occluded Lines linetype set to "Dashed". The hidden lines do appear, but I don't like the size and spacing of the dashes. Is there a way to add "Hidden" linetype to the selected visual style? Or perhaps there's a way of adjusting the linetype scale for visual style occluded lines (similar to LTSCALE or PSLTSCALE command)?

AutoCad :: Plotting In Conceptual Visual Style - Poor Quality
Nov 6, 2013I have tried this on 2 different machines which are running AutoCAD 2012 & 2014.
The 1st image below was taken from the print preview and shows a Conceptual & Hidden view. Why they come out blocky?
The 2nd image was taken from a screen shot which looks ok.
The 3rd image shows my print settings which created the print preview.
I have tried reducing the quality in the shaded viewport options section but it doesn’t really work.
