Revit :: Openings And Their Inability To Be Phased

I have an issue with openings not being able to be phased. Â In renovation projects it is quite common to widen an existing wall opening, for example. Â However, openings cannot be phased, they can only be existing and therefore the only workaround is to add the 'new' opening, with its eventual width, in the 'as existing' view set and close it to the 'existing' width with a wall, or walls, that can be then be demolished in the 'new construction' views!
The issue is cutting an opening in an existing floor so that in only shows in a new phase.I have created a floor based generic family with an opening tool and added an edge liner as a sweep. It hosts onto the floor and cuts it OK (in section and 3D). BUT in plan view objects below dont show through - see blue dashed on the screen clip. You will see that the red dotted opening>vertical cut show the stair below OK. Have a go (floor opening lined.rfa) and tell me why the opening is opaque!
Quick question, do shaft openings work across linked files? I have an elevator file I have linked into the main file. It has a shaft opening but doen't appear to be cutting holes in the floors inside the main file.
how I can create a sort of grill openings in the ceiling of an underground parking level? Â There are no ducts connected to it, it's just an opening between the underground level and the ground level, like a courtyard, for example?
I have an hp laptop, less than a year old -- I'm surprised this is a problem! The model is dv4-1125nr -- I have an intell chipset 4500 something or other as a graphics card. is there REALLY no way for me to be able to rotate an image? Interestingly, the 3D WORKS, but rotating an image doesn't ... ?
I have saved my individual workspace in the correct way, but when required, it is impossible to re-load the saved version. The only option I have is to re-create the whole individual workspace time and time again, whenever it gets lost. This is something I have noticed with all photoshop versions I have worked with, and I am now on CS6. How to re-load a saved workspace manually?
When I change the scale of my floor plan in the layout from 1/8"=1'0" to 3/32"=1'0", my doors "close." It's so strange. The swings disappear and all the doors, and cased openings are closed.
I changed my Ltscale to 1, thinking that was the problem, but no.When I change the scale back to something larger, they come back!
I am running AutoCAD 2006 LT and AutoCAD 2010 on one computer and have the SDI set correctly. When I open multiple files from Windows Explorer, it opens multiple AutoCAD sessions. How to avoid this from happening?
After I have chosen and used a color brush, I cannot get rid of the color and turn it off. The same color appears on all subsequent openings of the adjustment brush. How do I get rid of the color?Â
Okay so to start with I have a building with 2 staircores. Everything is drawn in 3d and I have drawn the 2 staircores as elements and subsequently Xrefed these elements into the relevant constructs and subsequently a 3D model view.
When I view the elements as a live drawing (ie. when I open the individual elements) the drawing views okay in plan and in 3D wireframe, hidden mode etc... no problem so far!
When the drawing is Xrefed into a construct and subsequently a 3D model all of the windows and doors disappear... but in 3d only - ie. viewed in plan mode they are fine. I have checked the display configurations in the constructs and views and they are all set to display these objects in the medium detail and high detail for the model and plan modes.
In 3d wireframe mode the windows and doors can be seen within the wall but the opening which they should create is non-existent!This occurs in teh construct and view drawings.
Here's the catch.... I have a 'West Staircore' and and 'East Staircore'. Both are drawn as individual elements. The West staircore is giving trouble, but the East is perfect. They were both set up using the same DWT file which means that the default display configuration settings should be identical.This is backed up by the fact that they view correctly in the live element drawings.
When they are both Xrefed into the same construct, one is fine and the other will not display in the 3D model!
I have a model with 5 reference drawings. Everything has been going fine. I am making modifications in 2d wireframe view Then I change to realistic view and conceptual view and see that half of my windows have disappeared and some doors. I open up the first floor plan and see that most of my windows, doors, and openings are not cutting the walls. It just happened and now I cannot get them to anchor in the wall.I did purge, -purge R, audit, recover and closed and reopened the program. No Change! What could have caused all of these objects to lose their anchor?
I've created a room schedule in my template. Now while I was working on a project in that template, I couldn't add a new row. If I want to add rows, I have to create a new schedule and add rows in there and then it works.
I have been working on creating windows for the place I work. Â I want to make my windows so they are quick and easy to create new ones without having to add in new information like if the glass is tempered or if its an egress window. I would like to set up formulas for these. Â I am stuck at my egress window parameter. Â I have included an image of what I am working on and the calculations and formulas I have so far. Â I would like to have my egress check box to say yes if the Opening Width is greater then 20", the opening height is greater then 24" and the opening sf is greater then 5.7 Sf. Â How would I set this parameter up?
Beyond lines displaying for walls of floor below and cannot get rid of - view range is set with bottom offset at floor level, cannot override beyond line style and nothing else I can find to turn them off. Its walls, door openings (not symbolic lines etc.
Our 50% plots don't print some entities. Â They plot fine at 100%. Â This occurs across multiple workstations. Â I first made sure that all the systems were updated with the latest updates and that the plotter driver was updated to see if that would fix it. Â No change. Â All workstations have Revit 2012 with update #2. Â Printing to and OCE TDS600 with the newest driver.
I have several spaces with the same types of case work. But instead of having each type have a general key note, I would like each instance of the type have a unique key note similar to the way doors work.
Working on a title sheet (i.e., a logo, and it includes fonts selections) and I can see each font individually on the list of fonts drop down on the System Family dialog, but I wonder if there is a way to see them physically all at the same time somewhere so I could compare each style side to side and see what each looks like at the same time. How or where I see all the fonts included in Revit all at the same time?Â
When I print in revit - at scale - 100% Zoom, I check it with an architecture scale and its off. For example, 25' - 0" in the revit file measured with a scale on paper is 23 ' 10". etc... Is it a revit issue, or a printer driver issue?
Is there anyway no wall gap line between floor when I copy 1st floor walls  to 2nd floor. Not to use "Join geometry" & Line work: invisible line" tools? See attached picture.
