Revit :: Linked Models Are Not Displayed In Design Options

Baffing issue for us:
We have a "core & shell" model linked into a "fit-out" model. We are working with design options in the "fit-out" model with different design options.
1. In a 3D axo view and working in the main model, we can see the linked "core & shell" file.
2. In the same 3D axo view and working in the primary design option, we can see the linked "core & shell" file.
3. In the same 3D axo view and working in any of the other design option, we CANNOT see the linked "core & shell" file.
The visibility & graphics settings have not been changed. The worksets settings have not been changed. We have been unable to overcome this issue. We are simply flippiing between different design options and the linked model disappears.
I have several architectural models linked into my central file on a project. For this project, there is an addition to the building that is a design option. When I look at the linked files, though, I can only see the existing construction. I also know how to copy/monitor levels, but I want to view the architect's room elevations in my model. How can I copy the architect's design options and specific views into my model?
We have a structural model linked into our building model for a project with about 10 people working on it. Periodically, some users cannot see all of the elements in the linked structural model. We have tried/checked the following:
Checking Visibility/Graphics (Worksets, Links, Categories) Checking Reveal Hidden Opening/Closing Worksets Unloading and reloading the Links Opening different Views to find the Elements
We are unable to resolve the problems through the methods above. Oddly, when a different user opens the view the elements are displayed. Or, if we override via Visibility/Graphics to the linked model settings the elements are displayed. In this second sceanario the only way to control the graphics is by changing them in the linked model.
We have a project where we have the model separated by discipline, arch, struct, mech and Elec. As I work on the arch model, I have all other models linked, each has generated its sheets. When I create a sheet list I only get the sheets on my model. Is it possible to create a sheet list from linked models?
I have four floor plans of varying differences on the same level that have been set up in different views, and organized by 'Design Options'. It would be very beneficial to be able to overlay these plans (eg. to see the differences, to make relative manipulations) as one can with the 'Underlay' feature can with different levels.
I have thought about placing the views on the same sheet and then activating the view I want to revise, but there is transparency complications . Suggest an alternative for a Design Option Underlay ability?

I have a tenant improvement project: two side by side medical offices. The owners want to run a joined practice and are building it together, so I'm preparing one set of construction drawings. However for a permit drawings I have to prepare 2 sets of drawings with each office separately-what's the best way of doing it? Also how should I handle sheets?-should I create 2 series: permit and CD? I'm not sure how to do it.
Is there a way to organize Design Options (alpha numeric) once they have been created.
I work for a large home builder and we will have multiple elevations for each floor plan. The elevations are usually labeled A, B, C, D etc. If an elevation changes labels, say elevation D becomes elevation B, the order will now be A, D, C, B; they cant be reordered into alphabetical order. Which can become confusing. Make sense? Attached is an example of a basic Design Option from one of my houses. In a typical house we can have 50-60 design options, that can change names over years, and they need to remain in an easily read and sourced order.
I am using Revit Architecture 2013 and I have a few different design options for the mian level of a house I am working on. I have the North wall of the house in a design option for the living room at the moment. But I have decided I no longer want that wall in the my living room option, I would like to move it to my kitchen design option so I am able to move a window that is located on that wall. I cannot seem to find a way to move a wall from one design option to another or have it in both if it is already part of a design option. How I can get this wall and the windows located on it into my kitchen design layout without having things being double counted in the schedules?
I am doing several houses with design options, but we need all the information for the main model will be unique for all the options in every model in order to keep only one file and manage the information just like and xref.
1. When I link A revit model (having different worksets) into B revit model, We can control the worksets visibility at the time of linking. We can select any workset to be switched off and it will not be visibility in any view. Can we controll it after linking and on the basis of views, i.e. Can we switch off any single worksets of a link file in a particular view. My understanding is that We can't control worksets of a link file in our main revit model.
2. If A.rvt contains deisgn options. can we link those design options to design options in B.rvt, Can we set the visibility of a view in B.rvt to see desired design option from A.rvt. My understanding is that revit link does not contains design options information.
3. Similar rules applies with Phases. We can't link phases from A.rvt with phases in B.rvt, Also can not controll the visibility of phases of a linked revit model.Seeks experts comments to confirm my belief. What are the nearest possible work around for these issues.
Linking the RVT file into max works well and all materials are scaled visually as expeected. The problem comes with replacing materials.
I'm working in Metric files in MM.
As an example I've got a wall in Revit with Brick, Common material attached, The image file used is Brick_Non_Uniform_Running_Burgundy.png which is 5 bricks wide x 16 brick courses tall. When rendered this look correct on the model.
However, I;ve I drop another Autodesk brick material onto the wall in Max the scaling is messed up. When I've noticed is that the scale on the Bitmap in Max of the Revit material is 3.33mm x 3.89mm The scaling of the bitmap of the Max material (same numbers of bricks) is 1016x1187mm.
Whats going on between Revit and Max that causes this behavior?
Why is it that Photoshop doesn't import 3D models for popular software like Cinema 4D (C4D) while the U3D extension of that weird and unpopular unprofessional heavily copied but little used Ulead cool 3D is in the list? I think it would be much more important to be able to import C4D files.
When I click once on a tool to choose it, the tool's options (ex. the 3 options of the lasso) stay displayed so that I have to re-click (anywhere) before I can use it. This by opposition to the normal behavior of PS that is when you click on a tool it is choosen and you can use it right away. I must have change a preference but I can't find wich. Photoshop CS3 extended (10.0) on Mac
I'm trying to explore possible options for displaying 3D geology models. In the attached I want to chop out the yellow solid and leave the other solids "as is" to reveal the various strata when the yellow solid is removed. I have removed the yellow solid but the results are not quite what I was hoping for.
My drawing has two design views, an old and new. They need to align perfectly, superimposed; is there a way move DV's, align them more than the Horiz/Vert./In Pos. currently available? How about make a DV Grounded or Fixed?
I have a design profile and now I want to create one that's linked to it but have it 0.5m lower than the profile I just laid out. Is there a way to do this? I'd like to keep them dynamically linked so when i manipulate the 1st profile it will drop the 0.5m lower profile. In theory this would be a great feature to have in CIvil 3D.
At this point I will likely need to copy the profile and drop it 0.5m in elevation with edit geometry. Not ideal considering when I adjust the main profile I'll need to redo that process to show the profile 0.5m lower than my main design profile. (used as a side slope target).
I am trying to export some Revit models to .nwc for use in navisworks.
I have been getting some odd errors, sometimes I get them, sometimes I don't. Sometimes I will get the error, close the program, re-open, and it will export fine. Other times I try that and still get the same error with no luck.
I need to get these into .NWC files, and doing it from Revit holds more infomation than trying to import them in Navisworks.

When I import a dwg model exported from Revit, the curtain walls (frames and glass pannels) do not display with Nitrous. They are there and can be selected from the layer manager. They are visible if I add an Editable Mesh modifier.
DirectX and OpenGL display properly. FBX import display properly
We are new to Revit, and have done a couple of projects in Revit. We have separate models for arch, mech and elect (no struct, this is done outside our office). We currently link models to each other as needed, the architect will link mech and elec. The mech eng. will link arch and elec and so on. Mention the use of a blank model onto which you link all models. I never got a chance to ask the individual how they use it or how it would benefit the process.
We just upgraded to Revit 2014. We had several Revit 2013 models we converted. We are now experience some visual issues within Revit. Specifically, on our Exterior Elevation views, though we are using Hiden Line display, we are seeing some "wireframe" lines, like the double line where the roof is cut, we are seeing our floor betwen levels, etc. I was wondering if it was a Service Pack issue. Issue 1 has been released. I tried to install the patch, and received an error that the product is not installed. I have also downloaded the latest certified video driver, but have not installed that till I tried to get the patch updated.
I need to be able to combine two revit project models into one .IFC export per floor. Initially I was able to accomplish this by binding the linked subcontractor’s model into my project model and then exporting each floor as an individual .IFC file. Within the past couple of weeks my sub-contractor has nested face based families into some of the more compex casework families. These new families are throwing up errors during the binding process that result in the content being deleted. Ultimately looking for understanding these warnings and how to resolve them so that I can continue with the work flow that was initially in place. How to streamline this process in the long run. I started looking into plug-ins or supplemental software that might enable me to merge .IFC’s generated from two different sources. I haven’t had much success.
I am using Revit 2013 and I am wondering if there is any easy way of getting my generic model schedules to get the length of the object without having to manually type it in?!
I have attached 2 images to explain what I am talking about. I have created my own countertops and decided for scheduling purposes it would work best to have them as generic models. As you can see from the "Counter Top Properties" image that it has the length of my countertop in the program, but as the "Counter top Schedule" Images shows I can not choose "Length" as an available field. I had to create a parameter for the length ("Length of Unit"), which is just a dimension parameter, and I have to type in manually what the length is. Is there a way to get my schedule to get that length dimension automatically without having to manually type it in!?
I am having trouble with the linework reading properly. I link a CAD dwg. to my revit model and once its in my model the linework doesnt read as it does in autocad. I have dashed or hidden lines in my CAD plan and once I link it in revit they show up as solid. I am thinking it has something to do with the LTscale in autocad?
Having issue with linked DWG which disappears arbitrarily? It is still linked and the visibility of Imported categories is set to ON, but DWG is not visible in a view. When we were linking it we set Current view only (so we can not see this DWG in other view than in the particular one).The solution is to remove DWG and link it again..What may cause it is that we copied the DWG into all levels because it contains floorplans of all levels. In every level we moved the DWG into correct position and it is working for a while. We did not find a moment when it disappears .
I'm having a real issue with Revit that I can't get my head around or find documentation on.
I have a model setup and linked a DWG file. The DWG is a topo survey drawn in real co-ordinates. The DWG is linked center to center then then I moved and rotated it to suit the orientation of my new building in Project North. See image 01.
I've then aquaired the co-ordinates from the DWG.
I've change to True North and rotated the view. See image 02
All seems to be OK. If I detach and re-attach this DWG using the shared co-ordinated it ends up in the correct place so I've started work on my model.
However, I've noticed that when I close and re-open my model or force ther DWG to reload it shifts position and rotates so I have to detach and reattach. See image 03
