Revit :: Add Line Work / Shaded Fills To Sheet Views
Mar 16, 2012Is there any way to add line work or shaded fills to sheet views.
View 1 RepliesIs there any way to add line work or shaded fills to sheet views.
View 1 RepliesI tend to use my 3d views often to pan around my building. I often go from hidden lines to shaded to wireframe but theres seems to be now way to do this now on revit 2013. What happened? what are the settings to fix this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a complex building which has floors that 'shift' meaning the floors are at different angles.
I have used sheets to create elevation pages using the elevations revit creates but as there is no shading it is impossible to tell that there are different layers to the building at different points (I have added photos to show this) It looks ok if I use the 3D model instead as that uses shadowing but I can only put one view of it in the sheet.
I either need to find out how to add shadow or how to add more views f the 3D model to show the buildings shape.
I've been working with a model where some of it is in a dark shadow when I make a shaded view on the drawing. I've created a custom lighting style in the style manager, but I haven't found any way to succesfully assign that lighting style to the model in a way that will light the shaded views in my drawing. I'm using Inventor Pro 2011.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been running into issues in IV 2010 with the shading where I need to show a part in a perspective view on my IDWs and depending on the angle I rotate to the majority of the part is shown in shadow. It's frustrating because I need to show a feature in that particular orientation, but the whole part looks dark.
Especially when I am showing left and right mirrored parts. One side always seems to end up dark. FYI I almost never show the material as a texture map in my part drawings so I use white as the color default because I am simply trying to get across the shape of the part in a shaded 3D view. These don't really serve as renderings to me per say. Is there any way to control the light source direction for custom views in terms of shading? Could I make it more of an ambient light or similar to the Global Light Style in Inventor Studio.
You would like to have an option to disable reflections in the shaded views that you create.
We introduced from Inventor 2010 support for disabling reflections in drawings. In order to do this, users need to add DWORD registry key named "Suppress Specular Color" with value greater than zero under the following registry key.
Note:
Prior to creating this registry key, you need to have the following hotfix installed for Inventor 2010:
[URL]
For Inventor 2011, you need to have SP1 installed.
Open the system registry and locate the following registry keys listed below (Start > Run > RegEdit):
1. Inventor 2010
[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareAutodeskInventorRegistryVersion14.0AppletsDrawingLayoutPreferences]
Create a key with this value:
"Suppress Specular Color"=dword:00000001
2. Inventor 2011
[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareAutodeskInventorRegistryVersion15.0AppletsDrawingLayoutPreferences]
Create a key with this value:
"Suppress Specular Color"=dword:00000001
If the key is not present or its value is zero or less, then reflections are enabled under drawings (Default behavior).
Note: The key is read only once per Inventor session - after adding the key or changing its value, users need to restart the Inventor session.
We would like to make the transparency of glass-materials visible in views and section-views by using the "realistic style". During a 3d-view our glass-material looks like transparent. Isn't it possible for REVIT to display the transparency of materials in views ?
The workaround to hide "glass" by using "overriding visibility" is not possible for us because some of our families and project families are using glass-materials inside (Showcases f.e.).

Since the end of Aug. 2012 I've been making families for a manufacturer. I left Friday evening with good families. This morning I am finding all the families I checked with a problem.
When I move the cursor across the various views it doubles the views. Rolling the mouse wheel one click either way to zoom in or out cleans the view but on the next time the cursor goes across the view it doubles it again. Now there are 4 views overlapping each other. The next time it is possibly 8, and so on. It is difficult to count them because they are overlapping but it looks like they are doubling each time.
The software is Revit Architecture 2011 and the computer is a Dell Precision T3500.Are the families corrupted or is it the computer? Is there a toggle I hit that I shouldn't have?
If I bring link in a dwg file origin to origin. The line work comes in correct and straight but in the wrong position.
If I link in a dwg file by shared coordinates it comes in in the right position but the dwg lines aren't straight if you move the mouse they jump around.
I have a solid color and apply the water color effect, though it doesn't do anything to the solid fill? I am applying the effect that is under Photoshop filters. Is this only meant to be applied to bitmaps?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a third floor view that continues to show the 2nd floor room fill colors, despite the fact that underlay is off. Floor 3 is visible and present (though) I can't grab it because I don't control that work set. The third floor room fill is not visible unless I make the cut plane 10'. That suggests that the 3rd floor is out of place, I think. But it seems fine in section.
I can't figure out if this is a bug in the view range or a problem in the model.
Note that the upper range is 12'2". The bottom of the range is offset 4' to show a parapet/roof of an adjoining structure. The clip depth is not effecting the visibility of the 2nd floor room fills at all, though it does effect the 3rd objects like the parapet.
I would think the clip depth would get rid of a lower floors room fill, which I assume is associated with the floor object.
I am very new to Revit (3 days) but am having an issue with the graphics display. When I start a new project from any of the preinstalled templates, the shaded views (with or without edges) do not show any shading and only display HLR. When I create a new family, or open a project from the tutorial downloads, the shading works. Is there a project setting that I am missing? Creating a render of the view shows proper shading/materials, just in the design phase it does not show.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to 2013 from 2012. Once I did this upgrade, my 3D shaded model is now transparent. This seems to be a known problem in 2013.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIts a stair with parts below the view level shaded black and above parts shaded as material settings. What controls the "beyond - below" shading?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn Revit 2013 - Some elements are displaying as transparent in the 3D Shaded view. All the glass elements are showing through solid parts of the model in 3D shaded view. See the attached image.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe just recently upgraded to Inventor Pro 2014. I have a user who has created a singled shaded view drawing. He want to print the drawing shaded. When he prints he gets a line drawing. It even appears like a line drawing when he previews it. He gets the same results when printing to Adobe. He said it printed properly in the morning yesterday and when he tried to print again in the afternoon it would not print shaded. He rebooted this morning and he still can't print a shaded drawing from Inventor. We looked at his printer settings and everything looks good. He is the only one in my department who is having this problem.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have section views @ 50 feet along my corridor and i want to show them on a sheet. When i create a viewport, those section views are not display in Layout Tab?
View 7 Replies View RelatedHow can I scale a view or all views in a sheet thru VB?I searched in the forum but I failed.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe problem occurs in the "Sheet View" area of Sheet Set Manager (SSM).
The first six steps describes our procedure for adding details to drawings, using hypothetical names. Layout "101" is on Drawing "100 DETAILS" and appears as sheet "101" in sheet set "PROJECT". Sheet set "PROJECT" (and associated drawings) is actively accessed by multiple users on the same network.
1. I create a view "PLATE DETAIL" in model space of drawing "100 DETAILS", and save the drawing.
2. I navigate the "Model Views" tab of Sheet Set "PROJECT" for view "PLATE DETAIL" in drawing "DETAILS" and "Place on Sheet" on the current layout "101".
3. A Sheet view is inserted on layout "101" with a View Label block with the view title "PLATE DETAIL(2)" and a view number of "___" (blank). I save the drawing.
4. I navigate the "Sheet Views" tab of SSM for view title "PLATE DETAIL(2) on sheet "101" and "rename and renumber" the sheet view, assigning "1" to the view number and changing view title to read (simply) "DETAIL".
5. After a regen on layout "100", the view label reads correctly: the title reads "DETAIL" and the view number reads "1".
6. I exit the drawing and close sheet set "PROJECT".
I believe this is the correct procedure for adding sheet views, but here's where the problems begin:
7. An hour later, I open sheet set "PROJECT" and the drawing "100 DETAILS"
8. Upon examination, I see that the View Title for the detail I placed earlier reads "PLATE DETAIL(2)" and the View Number reads "___" (blank). It appears as if I never followed step #4.
9. I navigate to to the "Sheet Views" tab of SSM, and I observe that even there, the View Title reads "PLATE DETAIL(2)" and View Number is blank, as if I never edited it. I correct the view title and view number, and the view label again reads correctly.
10. As in step #6, I exit and close the sheet set.
This is an oversimplification of one problem we are having. Imagine if this problem occurred with multiple details (up to 20 per sheet) on multiple sheets (up to 100 per project). These details are also referenced by section marks, detail marks and fields in mtext.
Occasionally we encounter another, more difficult problem:
10. An hour later, I open sheet set "PROJECT" and the drawing "100 DETAILS" as before.
11. Upon examination, I see that the view title I placed earlier reads "########" (hash marks) and the view number reads "#".
12. I navigate to the "Sheet Views" tab, as before. The view title reads "PLATE DETAIL(2) and the view number is blank, like in step #9. Only THIS time, correcting the information in SSM does not remove the hash marks. This means that the View Label is no longer linked to SSM.
13. I can re-insert a view label from SSM by "Place View Label Block" but that does not correct a wider problem: all references, such as Section marks, detail marks and text fields which appear on many drawings. All of these must either be re-inserted, or re-fielded.
We feel we have been following the correct procedures in a multi-user environment, but the results have been disastrous.
Is there a way to set the sort order in Sheet Set Manager for the Model Views tab? Seems like a few releases ago it was alphabetical - now its random and almost impossible to locate a specific drawing in a large project.
Tried changing MAXSORT and it did not have an effect.
Having problem with sheet views losing all their numbering??
Have been using sheet views since the day they came out. Great for cross referencing and not just call outs. But also lists of materials etc. as well. See attached image.
However recently when opening a drawing, boom the views lost all there numbers and restored the name back to what i originally called the view!
See below. The circled view numbers disappear!

I have a template for sheet creation with all layers on, thawed, etc. When I insert a view on a sheet, there are VP layers that are frozen.I do not want these settings.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThe sheet set manager is an awesome tool (i just started using it a week ago). The problem is, whenever I place a view on my sheet, (by right clicking>place on sheet) and it says "Scale: 1:1 Right-click to change scale", i right click and all i get is:
"Invalid point. Specify insertion point:"
But here's the twist: Sometimes it does work (like 10% of the time) but most of the time it annoyingly doesn't. here are some photos:
*i'm using Autocad 2014 32bit
*using Autocad 2011 32bit in our office but still experience the very same case.
as you can see i have already attaced the "site development plan" view here (after a few tries) cadtutor 1.jpg
this is how i place views on my sheets. i can also drag and drop, but i prefer right clicking it. (are there other ways? share them too!) cadtutor 2.jpg
here, i've already clicked place on sheet and it's asking me to right click if i want to change the scale. cadtutor 3.jpg of course i do and i need to, but this: cadtutor 4.jpg
like i said, sometimes it works. I do a few rituals (i just invented) before getting it to show this scales list like right clicking rapidly or holding rightclick repeatedly but not rapidly. and "SOMETIMES" it does work. but more often, it doesn't. cadtutor 5.jpg
I would like to create a sheet drawing that has two plan views or two profile views on the same layout?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI made a drawing, but after using ilogic (ilogic is in drawing, assembly, part) in it, drawing view of a particular part is coming in hidden line, other are shaded as u can see in image.

I am trying to program the view placement of various parts and have run into a situation where I need to place flat patterns. On the programming side there isn't an issue, but the issue occurs when attempting to select the wanted view orientattion.
Attached you will find 2 screen shots. One of them is from the "Folded Model" (Take note of the View Cube)
The other is from only Pressing the "Go to Flat Pattern" Button and being in "Flat Pattern" viewing mode (Note the Cube)
I need the Flat Pattern View to correspond with the Orientation of the Folded Model.
How to set the distance between the views? Is there a way to set the distance between the views? How much is it by default?
View 4 Replies View RelatedLet's say I have a flat pattern view of my part and the bended top view of the same part on the same drawing and I want both of the left side of each to be in line. (The right side shortends after the bends occur but the left side is not changed at all)
Work around:
1. Export to autocad and line them up with the osnaps, etc
I know how to sketch per view and project geometry but thats still on each view and when I try to line them up I am using my eye. Is there a better way to line both up even though their on different views?
I have my grids assigned to a scope box and have modified the extents of many of them. How can I apply that to the remaining floors? I think you are able to do this with dependent views. How about with adjacent views on the rest of the floors?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI linked in a dwg floor plan and it shows on the first floor but not in the 2nd floor or any others views. I thought as long as you left "current view only" in the Link CAD Dialog box unchecked it should show in all views.
