I created a picture by using Photoshop CS, there are several layers I made, I saved it as tif file, but when I open it , there is no layer in the pictures. it shows a locked background. how to unlock the tif files?
I have a ribbon that I'm trying to copy onto my page and it is a png file. I've copied papers that are jpgs just fine. Once I copy the png ribbon it locks and I cannot move it around. How do I either unlock it or is there a way to see where I am placing it on my project?
I am running a script that batch places the name of the document in the image and then saves the document, for all documents in a foder. However, it refuses to place this text, as the target layer is initially locked. So I am looking for a piece of script that I can add to this script which will first unlock all the layers in the document.
I am using Illustrator CS6 and if I click on one of the file menus ("File", "Edit", "View", etc.) if I want to open another menu without closing the previous one I have to click on it, while the default behaviour for other applications is for the menues to follow the mouse cursor, so how do I make it so that if I open the "File" menu and mouse over the "Edit" menu, the "Edit" menu would become open?
I have rigged a character and made it into a character set in which i have locked the scaling attribute , I have then saved this file. I have then referenced this file and and have done a walk cycle animation and saved this file. I have then realised that I needed the scaling attribute when I have added other parts of my scene. Is there a way to unlock the scaling attribute in my walk cycle animation file or will i have to go back and change it in the rigged file, create a new character set and do the walk cycle animation again?
Windows 8 64bit - Ps C i have an image from a client and it's just one Layer but it's locked and i would like to be able to unlock it and also to add a new layer above it which i am also unable to do.  why this is?  i know i can re-save it so that i can add a new Layer at least but i am still curious as to why i can't unlock the Layer.  also, i am building a package of images to sell. I have Locked the Layers but still want the people that (hopefully) buy them to be able to unlock them -  is this not something i can do? must i leave all Layers unlocked? for the most part i have only done so to keep particular aspects of the images safe from being altered by new users of photoshop etc.
How can I unlock my folders so I can copy them and work on them in a separate file? I did "get info" and clicked on the lock on bottom right below sharing and permissions. Then I typed my password, but they revert to locked right away. Â I have 100 images to retouch and don't want to retype my password for each one. This happened once before. I don't want it ever. My computer is not shared, so there's no need.
i'm trying make a web page for my dart club,(problem is not in programming) and i found some cool tutorial how to make a cool design for web page in photoshop.
i'm doing verything exactly how is desribed in tutorial but i need to do some DISTORSION filter.

I have a .psd button that has a lot of drop shadow and other affects on it. Somehow this layer has become locked.
There is the little padlock beside the layer name with the popup "Indicates layer is partially locked."
I need to change the text and color of the button, but I can't. Is there anyway to unlock the layer so I don't have to try to create a whole new one? The Lock: menu at the top of the layers tab is all greyed out (inactive).
on these various templates you can buy on the web, that allow you to put in your own text, links and so forth, with the so-called.PSD files... how on earth, once you open it up in Adobe photoshop, do you take out their text and type yours in!
I am trying to move a layer from one photo to another, both photos are from digital saved as JPEG. I selected the photo from which I want to move layers to activate itThen I selected the move tool ( icon - with arrow and cross picture)When I go to select and move the layer from the active photo - it says ' cannot execute because the layer is locked' How do I unlock the layer ?I did not alter the image or made any changes to it when I saved it, I did not even lock any layers I looked in the 'Layers' menue and there are no options for unlock Can someone tell me the pathway to unlock ?
Somehow my pixel dimensions and document dimensions have become locked and when I try to crop an image the cropped dimensions remain in the same proportions of width to height as the original. There are little symbols and brackets to the right of both pixels and inches. I don't know how to remove these. I am using an antiquated version of Photoshop Elements - version 2.0 on a Mac running 10.4.11.
one layer in a photoshop document has a padlock on it; no clue how it got there. I can't make it go away; perhaps the method is different in CS6 than in previous versions...  Any clue about this? I can't fill a selection on this particular layer...don't know why. The layer in question IS selected, and the selection is active, etc.
I am familiar with art explosion. Anyway, I recently had someone design a logo and I wanted to edit a few things on it. My problem is I downloaded that free trial of photoshop cs5 and the logo is showing up on one layer. I've tried everything to get it ungrouped or unlocked. Every tutorial just mentions unlocking the background but doesn't say anything if you have multiple objects in one layer. It has three oval shapes and the words for the business on it and another image. I'm hoping to ungroup it all but I've tried to do that and I am not able to choose ungroup or unlock because it won't let you. What are the steps for someone who doesn't really know this program to get all of the components of the logo separated. The guy apparently designed it in photoshop so I would think it would be a no brainer and I'm surprised I'm having to struggle this much to get it undone. It's a psd file.
I installed CS3 a few days ago (though I'm an experienced CS2 and Photoshop 6 user) and opened Photoshop CS3 Extended today for the first time.
The problem I'm having is with unlocking the background layer. I read in the documentation and on the Net about double-clicking and renaming the layer (which is what I did in other versions), or creating a new file with a transparent background, but those things aren't working for me in this version.
I opened a tiff file (a logo I want to use as the basis for a new image) but I can't unlock the background layer so I can copy, manipulate or add to it. Everything on the Layers drop-down menu is grayed out, as are the word Lock: and the symbols following it in the Layers window.
I tried creating a new image but when File|New dialog box opens the option to use transparent in the Background Contents dropdown is grayed out, too.
I have been sent a template that contains 4 fully locked layers. I seem unable to unlock them to enable me to edit them. Can someone advise how to do this in cs3.
Shake reduction otherwise works well, but the "unlock preview" button under the loupe view causes the filter to completely freeze up and then I often have to reboot.
I was on a tight deadline. I got a massively layered, -- nested folders everything -- .psd. I'm using Photoshop CS 5.5  I only needed the visible layers. So, I go to "Delete Hidden Layers" right? Ooops it was grayed out, I could not use it -- that was because of the locked layers...  Then I realized -- in the complicated layer structure I had to go through every single folder, open it, look for a locked layer and unlock it (nested folders inside of nested folders etc.). If the layer was not visible and it was locked, I had to first turn it to visible, then unlock it, and then turn it off again.  I was on a deadline, and I just didn't have time -- but I had to do it anyway. This was a painful experience... I'm telling designers from now on NEVER SEND ME A PSD WITH LOCKED LAYERS AGAIN  It would have been so much easier if I could just search for "locked layers", and "unlock all."
you holding all my photos hostage. How do I unlock Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2? How do I get around the registration page that pops up when I go to the Photoshop. The page will not let me by to try any thing.
