Illustrator :: Script To Unlock All Layers In File
May 12, 2013
I am running a script that batch places the name of the document in the image and then saves the document, for all documents in a foder. However, it refuses to place this text, as the target layer is initially locked. So I am looking for a piece of script that I can add to this script which will first unlock all the layers in the document.
I am using Illustrator CS6 and if I click on one of the file menus ("File", "Edit", "View", etc.) if I want to open another menu without closing the previous one I have to click on it, while the default behaviour for other applications is for the menues to follow the mouse cursor, so how do I make it so that if I open the "File" menu and mouse over the "Edit" menu, the "Edit" menu would become open?
I am trying to move a layer from one photo to another, both photos are from digital saved as JPEG. I selected the photo from which I want to move layers to activate itThen I selected the move tool ( icon - with arrow and cross picture)When I go to select and move the layer from the active photo - it says ' cannot execute because the layer is locked' How do I unlock the layer ?I did not alter the image or made any changes to it when I saved it, I did not even lock any layers I looked in the 'Layers' menue and there are no options for unlock Can someone tell me the pathway to unlock ?
I have been sent a template that contains 4 fully locked layers. I seem unable to unlock them to enable me to edit them. Can someone advise how to do this in cs3.
I am running autocad 2012...I am looking for a fast and easy way to Unlock all layers with as few key strokes as possible.....Is there a command already in Autocad that I dont know about?
I was on a tight deadline. I got a massively layered, -- nested folders everything -- .psd. I'm using Photoshop CS 5.5  I only needed the visible layers. So, I go to "Delete Hidden Layers" right? Ooops it was grayed out, I could not use it -- that was because of the locked layers...  Then I realized -- in the complicated layer structure I had to go through every single folder, open it, look for a locked layer and unlock it (nested folders inside of nested folders etc.). If the layer was not visible and it was locked, I had to first turn it to visible, then unlock it, and then turn it off again.  I was on a deadline, and I just didn't have time -- but I had to do it anyway. This was a painful experience... I'm telling designers from now on NEVER SEND ME A PSD WITH LOCKED LAYERS AGAIN  It would have been so much easier if I could just search for "locked layers", and "unlock all."
Create a command (macro) to unlock all locked layers and remove the fade effect. I know how to unlock them by using the command LAYULK, selecting the entities on the locked layer. I have been trying to automate the command so I don't have to select entities.Â
I created a picture by using Photoshop CS, there are several layers I made, I saved it as tif file, but when I open it , there is no layer in the pictures. it shows a locked background. how to unlock the tif files?
I opened a PDF in Illustrator and it has 4 Spot color swatches. Two of them will not delete or let me alter them and I need to change them to CMYK. I've tried reopening the document, restarting my computer and copying and pasting everything into a new document. Nothing has worked for me. I've also tried selecting everything, and going to Edit > Edit Colors > Convert to CMYK ... and then making a new color group (with global checked.) Still won't let me edit the two problem swatches. I then went to "Select all unused" from the swatch panel (thinking they would at least get selected because all of the colors should link to my new global color group) and the two problem swatches did NOT get selected. I've tried deleting all the links (thinking maybe the spot color was tucked in an eps file or something.) No objects are locked and none of the layers are locked.
I've been using Illustrator since the late 80's but this request just now came up for the first time, twice in one day: the clients each want me to send them layered files (OK-no problem) wherein all the layers, even the raster layers, register as vector layers. Or at least all the layers, regardless of file-type (vector or raster) are contained within an unflattened Illustrator file. One of the clients specifically asked that the Type layer (No problem-all the type is on one layer) be "vector mapped", whatever that means, while all the other layers can be Photoshop layers, if necessary. So how do I hand them an open, unflattened Illustrator file containing both vector art and raster art? Can it be done in Acrobat, as a PDF? I'm working in AI and PS CS5, but I can and will upgrade if I have to.
I have a ribbon that I'm trying to copy onto my page and it is a png file. I've copied papers that are jpgs just fine. Once I copy the png ribbon it locks and I cannot move it around. How do I either unlock it or is there a way to see where I am placing it on my project?
I have ten Illustrator documents with appr. 100 layers in each document. Â Each layer in all documents are named correctly for automatic script exporting to PNG files. Â Now I want to import all layers from all ten documents into one master file. And importantly, I want to keep the exact names of each layer.
I am working in Illustrator CS4 and I am currently having a problem resizing text boxes to either enlarge them to add more type or reduce them to eliminate unused space within the active box. When I place the cursor on the corner of an active box, I get a square symbol instead of an arrow which would indicate that I can change size. All I can do with the cursor now is move the position of an active box.
I've written a snippet that will unlock sub of sub layers up to 10 layers deep. It works fine; however I'm wondering if there is a better way to do this? I don't know that 10 is the maximum of sub layers I'll need to unlock but it's a fairly safe guess. I'd like to be more efficient and know that no matter what the layer structure of the file my script has unlocked any and all sublayers. Â Is there a different approach or way to think about this problem where you can script for a potentially endless number of sublayers, and subs of subs, etc.? Â var doc = app.activeDocument; var layerCount = doc.layers.length; for (i=0; i<layerCount; i++) { var currentLayerI = doc.layers[i]; var layerCountII = currentLayerI.layers.length; for (ii=0; ii<layerCountII; ii++) { [Code] .....
When I tried to open a big project I been working for many days, I get this error message: Â I Need to urgently fix this issue, since I cannot see most of my layers on the file after it opens. Â I am using Adobe Illustrator CS6, on a macbook Pro device.
I need to edit a Photoshop PSD file that has layers. Â I believe vector lines can be edited in Photoshop but I only have PS Elements and can only edit the text. Â I do have Illustrator CS6 but when I open the PSD file it will not open to separate layers, even if I choose this in the open options. Â Maybe Illustrator cannot do this?
Is it possible to manage layers of a PSD file into Illustrator? I placed a PSD file whick contents 3 layers into Illustrator. In Illustrator I would like to be able to open and close the layer from PSD file (as it can be done in InDesign).
In CS6, I could import (open) DWG files and it would correctly categorize the input objects into separate layers. In CC, it is putting them into a group in a single layer, which is a big usability regression. Is there a fix for this?
How can I back save illustrator files created in CC (CS7 version???) to CS6 without losing layers? when I open the files in CS6 it says "some info will be lost'  Ha! all layers and separation is lost, so cannot separate parts whole file seems grouped and cannot be separated? When I go back to my (other) computer where I was foolish enough to upgrade to CC, way to save back as I can with InDesign and saving as a idml file.Â
So I received a DVD with an eps file on it from a graphics company. I was informed that I could open it in Illustrator and start editing the individual graphics within the file. But when I open it, it is just one image and won't let me edit it. Â There are no locks on the image layers. Â The graphics company told me that it was originally created in Indesign and then saved as an eps, so I don't really know what to do now. Â It won't open and let me edit in any of the Adobe programs. I need these graphics to edit!
ai::int32 aint; sAILayer->CountLayers(&aint); Â for (int i = 0; i < (int) aint; i++){ sAILayer->GetNthLayer((ai::int32) i,&layer); artSetSuite->LayerArtSet(layer, artSet); }Â AIArtHandle hand; sAIArt->GetFirstArtOfLayer(layer, &hand); e2 = sAIRasterize->Rasterize(artSet, &rs, &bounds, kPlaceAboveAll, hand, &art, MyRasterizeProgressProc); Â sAILayer->GetFirstLayer(&layer); e2 = sAIArt->GetLayerOfArt(art, &layer); e2 = sAIArt->GetFirstArtOfLayer(layer, &art); Â error = sAIImageOptSuite->MakePNG24(art, dstfilter, pngParams2, MyRasterizeProgressProc); Â the code above shows how I managed to export a artboard with all layers to PNG-File. My question is, if there is a faster way to combine all layer before exporting, maybe a way without the "temporary layer" (Rasterize(...)-method)?
When I export with the standard-export-button in Adobe Illustrator, it runs fast and with all layers.
is there a quick way how to renumber or batch rename all layers in a file so they would be named in consequent numbers? Doesn't have to start from exact number, I was wondering if maybe there is some sort of script that would work?
I have a client who has a set of .ai files they need resized to meet various epub layout specs. Apple and Kindle both are different sizes so I need to know the best way to resize an .ai file 11.25 x 5.65 inches into a smaller dimension in pixels while retaining the layers.
I have rigged a character and made it into a character set in which i have locked the scaling attribute , I have then saved this file. I have then referenced this file and and have done a walk cycle animation and saved this file. I have then realised that I needed the scaling attribute when I have added other parts of my scene. Is there a way to unlock the scaling attribute in my walk cycle animation file or will i have to go back and change it in the rigged file, create a new character set and do the walk cycle animation again?
I want to add the same 3 adjustment layers to about 20 photos and then in scripts, export layers to files, so that each photo includes the adjustments.
