Sep 13, 2012Can you sort pictures as to the date they were taken, if so how?

View 8 RepliesI recently set up Elements 12. Prior to this I used elements 11. In that catalog I have more photos that I don't want. So I decided to export the ones I want then import into PSE 12. As I do this many of the dates on the pictures change from the date taken to the current date. I have tried several different ways and can't stop the dates changing. I am putting them into mobile albums in PSE 12 if that makes a difference.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to PSE 11 from PSE 9. I actually did this by buying a new comptuer and putting PSE 11 on the new computer. I used the Windows File and settings transfer wizard to move all my files to the new comptuer. So inside MyPictures folders, they are in the same location as in the old comptuer. But when I soft by date order, it sorts by the date of the file (which seems to be random based on when windows copied the file to the new comptuer) instead of the created date.
Furthermore, on the old comptuer, in PSE9, i set the date and time of each picture so it would be right. This seemed to set the created date (which was missing for a lot of my scans or was the date of the scan) and made the PSE9 organizer sort them correctly. Seriously, are people expected to do that months of work again every time they move to a new computer? or am I suppose to have tell my wife, "deal with seeing your kid's pictures in random order -- Adobe thinks that is best."
Is there a way to set all the timestamps in windows to the created date of the picture in one swoop?
I want to sort the photos in an album into date sequence, that is to say, oldest first. I want to keep the photos in the organiser in newest first sequence (I don't want that photo from zillions of years ago top of the list every time I open the organiser).
I can see "Sort by" at the top but that seems to apply to the selection of photos I have showing on the screen and does not appear to be an attribute that can be attached to an album. So if I select "Oldest" as the sort order, that works nicely for the album but then I go back to the organiser and it's in oldest first order. Not what I want. So I select "Newest", then go back to the album and the "oldest" sequence has been lost.
It was really easy in PSE8. It appears that what I am trying to do is impossible and Adobe have dropped the ability to associate a sequence with an album.
Incidentally, what does "Album order" mean? That implies that it is possible to set an album order somewhere.
In Photoshop 9 can I view or sort photos by time taken not just by date taken?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn version 10, I could create an album, add photos to it, and then right click on the album name and select "Sort album by photo date", or something like that. This was very convenient when I had more than one source of photos for a certain event, like a vacation. This would change the "album order", which made it very convenient for creating photobooks or other projects where I wanted chronological order. I don't want to view by "Oldest first" in media view 1st before I save the album.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn the thumbnail view the newest pics are at the bottom, the oldest at the top. But in my list of folders on the left panel, they're sorted by name, and I get figure out how to sort that list of folders so the newest ones are at the top. Like it is in Picasa basically. How do I perform this elementary sorting operation?
View 27 Replies View RelatedSuddenly I can no longer sort JPG and RAW files together by capture date. I have two Canon SLR's shooting in RAW and one Canon point an shoot shooting in JPG and want to collate the photos in LR4, which I was able to do up to now. I cannot find out what I did to make this happen or correct it in LR preferences.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got bunches of scanned analog photos. The creation dates were the scan time, not when the photos were taken. And some are out of order.
I don't remember the exact times and dates, but I do recollect the sequence. And I can use a "user order" within LR.
But how do I preserve that order in the metadata in the files for use in other applications, etc? I can set a creation date, but it appears to be the same for all. How I could increment the date/time so that I'd end up with the same sequence when sorted by "capture time"?
I'm in search of an answer for a MAJOR problem I am having! When I capture pics to a file for a project, they are renamed to a time and do not stay named as my original file. It is absolutely necessary for the pics to be in numerical order for the projects I do. I see an option to sort, but it sorts by new name (time) instead of the original file name. I've not been able to find an answer and I have a HUGE project that must be completed tomorrow evening.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using a trial version of Paint Shop Photo 2010, trying to make a simple slide show with music. I downloaded into my laptop from my desktop, 137 pictures already organized and sorted by me and numbered sequentially (using my old faithful, but antiquated PAINT SHOP PHOTO ALBUM ). However!! When I bring this into PSP2010, all the nicely numbered pictures are scrambled! And I can find no way to do a simple file sort by "Name" (i.e. number). I can sort my File Folders by name!! But that does me no good. PSP2010 leaves me with no choice but to hunt each photo from memory (no file nos. are showing now) and drag it into the tray.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there an easy way to remove the date print on a picture? Or for tht matter put it back again?
View 4 Replies View RelatedUsing PSE9, Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit.
I just changed the dates on 2 of my photos and noticed that the 2 pictures do not re-order themselves in the correct date sequence.
The 2 photos are dated Oct 14, 1983. However they appear between my Oct 16 and Oct 15 photos. I have other photos dated Oct 14 that do correctly appear before the Oct 15 photos.
Why would these 2 photos be separated from the other Oct 14 photos?
Is it possible to sort all pictures view in library to have the oldest pix at the bottom, newest at the top, numbered upwards from the bottom?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just added to the catalog a series of folders containing pictures.
What I was hoping is that Adobe LR was going to copy all those pictures and put them into "my pictures- > year -> date" so that I will have all my pictures organized by date. [ t)
However, adobe LR have just added all those pictures using their original location (i.e. the folders where i had them), and therefore the automatic organization by dates that i was expecting didn't happen.
I would like to move all the pictures to the "date system".
I have included both a text and a date as part of the photo caption on each of my photos. When I have attempted to search for a specific date or year, however, nothing comes up. For example, if I search for my photo on "Fido 1985", I can find Fido, but if I simply enter "1985", I get nothing.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got some 500 photos in a folder which were imported on two different dates. I've created a new album on the right hand side under "Organize" and just the photos I want are in there. When I look at the folder on the right, all the pictures are there. But I can't call up just that folder; instead what I get on my screen is all 2500 photos in all my photo albums! Not what I want! What I want to get is all the photos in the order in which they were taken on the actual day as all 500 photos were taken at the same day. And I want to be able to view just the 500 photos in that folder by the time those pictures were taken. But, when I imported the second batch of photos it showed the date the file was created rather than the date the photo was taken so, basically, I've got one batch of photos showing the date they were taken (which I downloaded via a link a few days later), and one showing the date they were copied!

View 3 Replies View RelatedAll of a sudden I notice that when I open a file in Autocad Architecture, it shows the file creation date and not the actual last save date. Only thing I can think of is I reinstalled 3dsmax Design and I wonder if that changed something. I attached a screenshot for reference.

Has it become a possible option to automatically grab the Date-of-shoot (instead of the DAYToday) when renaming files (that should show shooting- date) in LR5?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhy does the capture date in the metadata panel not match the capture date seen in the grid extra view and how do I fix it? The images that I have in my library are digitized negatives and I've corrected the capture dates and times to be accurate; however, the capture date and in the metadata window shows what I've changed it to and the date in both the grid extra view and the Metadata>Edit Capture Time... options both reflect the date the image was last modified. Not all of the images in my library are this way and some show the correct information. When sorted by Capture Time, all images fall exactly where they should in the proper order (based on the changed, corrected edit time and not the modified date). I saved metadata to the file with the new date but it didn't fix it.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI found the "sort for visually similar" function in organizer(10) and it pretty much tanked. It grouped head shot photos with lake landscape, and a few rows down would be a duplicate head shot. So it is too restrictive and not restrictive enough at the same time.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to replicate the following pictures. What I want to do, is take an image of a city skyline, and make it look like it was from the classic streets of rage games. The video game pictures below are from streets of rage. Take a look at the city buildings/skyscrapers.
How can I do this as quick as possible? I was hoping there was another way than creating rectangles and making rows, then duplicating those rows! Plus it's really hard for me to see a city design like these in my head.
I also would like to take an image of New York for instance, and make it look exactly like the streets of rage buildings. How can this be done?
Ive just made the jump to CS2 from PS elements and feel lost without the photobin at the bottom of the screen.
if CS2 has some type of window which does the same as the photo bin window in PS Elements?
Im used to navigating between open documents using the photobin thumbnails - even dragging layers from the main window onto another via the photobin.
I know I can Ctrl Tab to physicaly change the main document but apart from having two or more small windows is there any way to have some sort of photo bin type of window?
I am trying to download pictures in folders and sub folders into the LR catalog. The import brings all the pics in the subfolders over but when II click on the parent folder it shows not pictures or number of pictures in it.
View 4 Replies View Related I just want to be able to put the swatches in a library into a specific order. I don't see a way to do this I'm just missing it. A google search did not provide any useful insight into this so I figured the next step would be to ask here.
Edit:
I have figured out how to edit the .aco as text, but there must be an easier way. This will work for now, but in the long run this will not be a reasonable solution.
Has anyone come across a plugin for sorting your fonts in the font menu, simmilar to how MS Office keeps the last few fonts you have used at the top? I have over 1,000 fonts on my computer.... it takes awhile to sort though to find a sutible one for certain tasks.
View 2 Replies View Relatedhow the area shaded has a smooth look to the outline... like drawing something on Flash, how it smooths out the wrinkles and stuff.
Is there a way to do this with photoshop? They done that graphic with Powerpoint I believe.
i'm a hobby sports photographer. I shot lots of fast series. After an import into organizer pics with same time stamp are arranged in random order so the series get mangled. It is no fun to bring back the correct sequence by hand for hundereds of pictures. Slideshows, Video etc. are senseless.
A simple "sort by name" would solve this. So, how to sort by name?
In previous PSE(8/9/10), after change to folder view in EO, the files/Photo in folder selected will be sorted automatically by name, but I cannot sort by other methods (no [Sort By]).
However, in PSE11, folder view has gone. I can sort by Newest, Oldest and Import Batch. but I want to know how can I do auto-sort-by-name?
