View 2 RepliesI have started editing photos using the Photo Fix Options in Instant Fix. I have then switched to Photo Editor to fine tune my edited picture. When I use save or save as, to save the edited picture both the edited and original appear in the files. If I start in in Photo Editor and save there is an option to uncheck that reads "Save in version set with Original" However I am more comfortable with beginning in Instant Fix and then switching to photo editor. For some reason when I go to save after switching from Instant fix to Photo editor the uncheck feature is no longer available. step by step instructions to save revised photo afterusing Instant Fix first then Photo Editor.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIf I create a file in Photoshop without coming from Lightroom or duplicate a file in Photoshop that I opened from Lightroom, is there a way to save the new file from Photoshop to the desired directory on my local hard drive and simultaneously have it added to my Lightroom catalog? Or do I need to save the file then import the file into the catalog? I'm working with CS6.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI am creating an image in Photoshop CS6. I've saved it a few times but now it's telling me the file is locked. I resaved it as something else and now the original file has vanished!
Â
I looked at the properties of the file before it vanished and clicked the security tab and it told me I didn't have permission to view it and I had to be an administrative user, which I am. It gave the option of giving myself permission and said the previous owner may no longer have permission but there was no previous owner listed (obviously because there never was one).
Â
These files are very important, I can't risk them just vanishing or locking me out. Why is this happening and how can I stop it?
I've recently switched from 6 to 7. When I open an image the layer is locked and I can't unlock it (greyed out). This prevents me from adding the drop shadows I need to add. Any answers out there, please?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using Photoshop CS2 and whenever I open a .jpg , .gif or use my scanner and scan something into PS the layer always starts out locked.
Is there a way to change this so it is not locked everytime?
I try to open my Photoshop 7.0 I get two error messages. I don't understand why I am getting these messages, or how to fix them. The error messages appear at startup during the initializing of the Photoshop 7.0, these messages state:
Error Message 1: Can not find workspace folder.
Error Message 2: Could not initialize Photoshop because the file is locked. Use the Properties command in Windows Explorer to unlock the file.
There is no Properties command under Windows Explorer, there is one under Photoshop 7.0, but nowhere does it say "unlock file". I have seen a similar problem for the CS2 in the FAQ section, so I tried to use that fix, but it did not work. I have uninstalled & reinstalled, cleared cache, de-fragged, and unhidden the files ...
a client has asked me to alter a graphic, it's a gif file and when I open it shows as one layer. It shows as partia;y locked. clicking thepadlock icon
does not unlock it
Is there a way to unlock it?
I was sent a jpg image via email, made a correction and put it on our network for another colleague to open. When she tried to open it, the following message below came up and I can’t rectify the problem and open it on my colleague’s machine.
View 6 Replies View RelatedEverytime I launch it the programme activates the expired demo version and won't let me enter the serial number of the programme. Any ideas? Is there is fix available. I couldn't find anything on the adobe site and tech support sent me an auto reply which mentioned within 48 hours and I don't have 48 hrs.
View 6 Replies View RelatedAdobe production premium? I have this for windows. what if i wanted it for mac? If i wanted it on both windows and mac i'm guessing that would mean buying it again fully as another license? Or could it be used as the "secondary install" of the application? (I would keep this PC too). Either way, is it possible to get the program as another download using the same serial code, but one for PC (which i have), and one for mac?So i'd have one serial code but with two installers, one pc, one mac, basically.
View 39 Replies View RelatedI have a file that someone created and one of the layers says that it is 'Partially Locked'.
I never had delt with this before and was wondering how I go about unlocking it.
Double Clicking it, like I do with locked layers, only brought up the layer style property box.
I'm trying to install a plug-in for Photoshop CS3. It's a DDS File Type Plug-in. When I run it, Photoshop gives me this errer message:"could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document" how to install and use this plug-in
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am using Photoshop CS2 with Windows XP. Why are all the photos that I import into Photoshop have the layer locked. I tried to save them both as .psd and as .jpeg. But, it makes no difference. In the layer pallette, the layer is marked as locked but the icons at the top are all grayed out.
View 7 Replies View Relatedgot my new computer---AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ CPU, 4 GB RAM, two 1 TB SATA hard disks (logical drives C:, D:, and E: on first physical hard disk; drives F: and G: and the second). Operating system is Windows XP SP2.
When I installed Photoshop CS3 10.0.1, I did not enter the serial number immediately in order to enjoy the CS3 Extended trial period (my serial number is for CS3 Standard). Eventually the trial period expired, and I entered my serial number. No problems until here.
Today I deactivated the Photoshop copy on the old machine and activated it on the new one, and that's when the problem started. Now Photoshop won't work anymore. It worked fine prior to activation.
Or actually, it
i does
work ... but only when drive C: is selected as the primary scratch disk which under Windows obviously is a bad choice. But Photoshop won't let me choose anything different. Whenever I try to deselect C: from the list of active scratch disks (remove the tick mark) or to change the order of active scratch disks so that C: is not the topmost anymore then Photoshop will refuse to re-launch.
Instead, upon re-launch it will display a message box (with 'Adobe Photoshop CS3' as the title bar and an OK button as the only option) saying, 'Could not initialize Photoshop because the file is locked. Use the "Properties" command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file.' Of course, it doesn't bother to say what file it is talking about, or what 'locked' is supposed to mean. Explorer's 'Property' command does not provide any means to 'lock' or to 'unlock' a file. To get out of this situation, I have to delete Photoshop's preferences file which leaves me where I started, i. e. with drive C: as the primary scratch disk. I can always add more drives to the list of active scratch disks. But I must not remove C: from the top of that list or Photoshop won't work anymore.
But I want Photoshop to use G: as the scratch disk. It worked fine that way until I carried out the $#!%@ activation procedure!
I have received an illustration as a tif. image. The background is white, though what I need is a transpraent background. I cannot manipulte the image since it is locked.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhat is/are the benefits of having every background layer of a newly opened document locked? I have never come across a need for it and wish it wasn't. It only means I have to create a new layer and import an image to that. Or, double click the layer to unlock it. Is there a way to permanently eliminate that "preference?" It's like entering a room with your shoes tied together.

View 2 Replies View Relatedone layer in a photoshop document has a padlock on it; no clue how it got there. I can't make it go away; perhaps the method is different in CS6 than in previous versions...

Any clue about this? I can't fill a selection on this particular layer...don't know why. The layer in question IS selected, and the selection is active, etc.
After opening a RAW file in ACR CS6, Win 7, the outline is constrained to a 3:2 box. When I drag down, it's a vertical 3:2 box. I try clicking on the crop icon at top, but there's no response. There's no drop down menu when I click the icon. Otherwise, ACR works fine, using the 2012 methods.Â

Could not initialize photoshop because the file is locked. use the properties command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file.Of course, there is no mention of which file is locked.
My version of cs6 is locked to the right side of my monitor. I can't seem to move the application by dragging the bar along the top anymore. It is not the screen mode as I have tried pushing "F" with no luck. I am in the screen mode where you can view the desktop beneath the application. I have tried poking around the windows menu to no avail. I have tried going into my Dell montor menu settings as well. I think I accidentally hit a key stroke that did this but I am not sure what it was. I have restarted several times but no luck. The app is running fine - I have been using it to complete my illustrations but it is frustrating to continue working this way. It almost seems like the entire app window is running off the bottom and right part of my monitor but I can't get it back to fit in the screen. And yes I have tried pressing command 0.
View 4 Replies View RelatedCS5 - the background layer - although it shows as being locked - it is not -- when I add a new layer the new information also changes in the background layer - how do you fix that?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying simply to work with layers, however when I start a new document and then import a photo, the background automatically locks. The lock icon is visible in the layers pallate. I can drag that icon to the trash and import another photo but the first photo disapears as the layers all merge on top of one another and the lock icon returns.
