I know you can use history snapshots for different states of your file but it deletes after you exit the file so you lose those different states. Is there a way to save different states of a file permanently?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just run into another new thing in PS. If you Option (Alt) Click on any previous history state in the history palette (not the latest one) it is copied. I can't imagine what this is good for. Perhaps because I use linear history rather than non-linear history?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI had downloaded Photoshop CS6 from the official Adobe site here URL....product=photoshop), and wanted to only test it out. uninstalled all my Microsoft Visual C++ products, not knowing that these were important for Photoshop. Anyways, Photoshop was having all errors etc. and I had to uninstall it (the 30 days weren't over yet, by the way). Now I have downloaded the Microsoft C++ products again, and I wanted to download Photoshop CS6 Extended again - it all was installed it perfectly, but when I opened the program, it was just Photoshop CS6 and not Photoshop CS6 Extended (and I want it because of the 3D options etc.) - and I was using the same download link from above. So, why has it downloaded the "wrong" product now?

Too often Photoshop remembers way too many History states within one pen stroke. In previous versions I don't remember this behaviour. Previously, each stroke, no matter how long, was registered as only one History state, until I raised the pen from the tablet. Now, totally sporadically without any obvious rule, Photoshop decides to remember even 100 history states within only one stroke.
Although this is sometimes useful, if you work on really long strokes, but mostly it's highly disturbing, as after using just one tool to paint only one little circle, I loose all my other, much more important History states.
I have my History panel set to non-linear history, and often want to delete multiple history states at once. I'm able to delete one history state at a time. Is there a way to select multiple history states and delete them all at once?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI having trouble with closing documents and even quitting Photoshop CC. I tried the menu, shortcuts and the close button on the document frame.
Photoshop reacts to the shortcut by marking "file"/"Photoshop" in the menu when i push command+w or commmand+q but nothing happens.
I have to force quit photoshop each time. All other buttons work exept when i try to delete history states in the history panel. Nothing happens when pushing the "delete current state" button.
This is the second time in a week this has happened. Was able to repair it the first time by changing the name MediaDatabase.db3 to MediaDatabase.old

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have started editing photos using the Photo Fix Options in Instant Fix. I have then switched to Photo Editor to fine tune my edited picture. When I use save or save as, to save the edited picture both the edited and original appear in the files. If I start in in Photo Editor and save there is an option to uncheck that reads "Save in version set with Original" However I am more comfortable with beginning in Instant Fix and then switching to photo editor. For some reason when I go to save after switching from Instant fix to Photo editor the uncheck feature is no longer available. step by step instructions to save revised photo afterusing Instant Fix first then Photo Editor.

Other system is not experiencing this, and we have run the Repair / Re installation.
When I click on any of the scene states manager buttons either in the quad menus or in the tools menu, nothing opens. This is the same in any of the scene states buttons (save scene state, or manage scene states). I used to use scene states frequently.

I know that you can select similar for color, layer, line type but is there a way to select by visibility state? All of my dynamic blocks use visibility states depending on which view you want it in (i.e. plan,front or side) and in most cases differant sizes of the object. I would like to be able to change let say the size of an object in the plan view from visibility state 1/2" insert plan to visibility state 1/4" insert plan without going to each block.
View 0 Replies View RelatedI have two viewports in a drawing file. One is for existing and new conditions and one is for existing and demolition conditions. So, I want one viewport to freeze some layers and the other viewport to freeze other layers. After picking and freezing certain layers in each viewport, I created New Layer States - One called New Floor Plan and the other called Demo Floor Plan.
When I click inside one of the viewports and select the appropriate layer state it changes both viewports to the same layer state. That is not what I want. Is it possible to have one layer state in one viewport and another layer state in another viewport?
I just started using 2012 and have few problems. I do MEP drafting and usually use multiple states within a dwg. we create bases and xref them into the various disciplines. When I toggle between the different saved states within a dwg, the layers in the dwg appear, but the xref layers turn off every time. is the a glitch?
Also i don't know how I turned this on, but there is a blue box that appears on my crosshairs and shows me the different lines that I select.
in 2012 I saved a layerstate and it shows in the dialog but if I change the stet to another and go back none of the settings are held.

I have this dynamic block which has a visibility states. I don't want user to be able to change it. So I made grip visibility to 0 when I created the block. Now I realized user can change that thru the properties window.
I just want this to be change only within program interface . Is this Possible ?
Is their a protocol for making a block with visibility states? I have not done this in a long time but I know the procedure for creating the visibility states but for some reason no matter how many times i adjust this one block i cannot get the this attribute definition to stop showing in visibility states.
I have tried doing a show all and hiding this attribute manually over and over again and i cannot get the block to hold the info. it looks right in the block editor but as soon as i insert this block i can see the visibility state is not right. is their a procedure of how i set up a block like this so that the visibility states will work the way i want them too?
I work with a lot of blocks that use visibility states. I've immediately found that editing these in 2013 is impossible because of a bug. When I'm on "Visibility State 1"and select "Visibility State 2" from the drop down, the state just reverts back to "Visibility State 1". The actual block will change and my drawing from "State 2" will show up, but the drop down still lists "State 1". So, when I try to Make Visible an object (in order to put it on "State 2" which is currently visible on my screen), the object is put on "State 1". This needs fixed IMMEDIATELY. This makes Autocad 2013 worthless to my firm.
View 8 Replies View Related I work for a home builder and I receive the drawings in autocad format. Each house drawing comes in autocad but each floor plan and elevation is represented by a "layer state".
Each of these drawings has 7 to 9 pages and when I want to print each of those pages, I have to do it "one by one" as I have to switch between layer states.
So, each file has a layer state for: basement plan, main floor, second floor, etc. I want to find a way that I can print (convert to pdf), all these drawings, rather than going by each "layer state"
I have a simple block with option 1 having title at the left and option having the same title at the right. I can use visibility state should the title be mtext.
However the two titles are in form of attribute tag. Hence how to proceed?
I am using Layer States Manager in CAD2010 and have run into this problem.
I inserted an XREF into my drawing which is using LMAN. I put the XREF on a layer that is visible for the current layer state I am in. Saved the drawing then another coworker opened it and the xref was no longer visible. Even though the layer settings show as not frozen or locked the XREF won't show. If I move it onto a layer that is showing in the layer state manager it still doesn't show. I'm not sure if this is just a glitch or if I have some some setting set incorrectly.
Also are others have problems with LMAN not working after drawings are opened by someone else in the office? Are the LMAN settings not universal?
Solidworks has something called display states where you can change each component in an assembly to appear differently. For example; one part shaded another line edges without hidden lines, yet another showing the hidden lines along with the line edges. Then once these are set this can be brought into a drawing.

I have been unable to locate them by file name or date in LR or using file searches. How can I find and/or import them? Do I have to rename all the files by deleting the leading _ in the file name?

No further information is provided. This process has worked flawlessly on the old machine. What has changed within AutoCAD? Is this a 64bit thing? If I import the layer state directly from the xref or from an exported LAS file, the restore works fine.
