is it possible to make a exact screen measurement
as in i wanna have a 3 inch screen image on my photoshop and it measures the same as a 3 inch ruler.
when i make a new image how many pixels/inch must i use for the measurments to be exact?
The reason I ask is because i have to crop a picture to an exact size for use as a pasport picture.
the picture is 1.7 in. X 2.13 in. but when i place it in a new 4X6 it takes up nearly the whole document
I want to make this same exact BG but using different colors than what is in this (my own colors) gradients won't work as the colors are not completely across the image, they are mixed up a little... doesn't look like a gradient was used in this because of the varyness off the colors that go across... I cannot think of a good way to explain the color layout in this image, but I'd like to know how to make this using colors I want.

Most of the text is black but certain words/letters are purple, red, blue, etc. and I want to get rid of them. The black and white tool works but the previously colored text is now a shade of gray instead of being pure black. I also played with the contrast and brightness but it the text bleeds and becomes unreadable. The background is also pure white.

How can I resize it or how can I make my drawn line to be exact 880meters ? ( I will resize my picture according to my drawn line).
Make a current, parent image, pattern step and repeat at an exact distance from the parent.
I have a parent image 4.75"long X 2.00" high image I want the pattern repeated in the Y direction every 2.10" or with a .10" space between the images, to create a 1XN array or tiles or pattern?
I then want to print the new tiled, array image to the exact size.
I'm not talking about simply making a layer folder with various elements grouped inside. What I'm trying to do is create different screen instances of a website using a feaure that turns on specific layers, allowing me to save that "layer visible" combination. I did this a few years ago and now cannot remember how it was done. To give an example:
I have a layer folder called "main navigation" in my Photoshop file. This main navigation folder has tons of sublayer elements that include the menu itself, hover states, drop down states, etc. I have another layer folder that contains elements for a specific web page.
What I used to do was this: I could turn on one of the specific web page folders, then turn on the active state element in my Main Navigation folder. So now the page looks as if it would for that specific screen instance. At this point, I was able to create a "Layer Group" that saved this specific set of layers that were turned on (visible), and name it.
Does this feature still exist in Photoshop? I can't seem to find it anywhere, or find any documentation on how to implement it.
CS6 with my image make my screen BLINK, sometimes it blink in black, sometimes it blink as transparency, when i do something in my image all my image get black or it blink's again, how i solve that??
its like all the time this blinks, when i work with more than 1 layer i cant choose other layer that all blinks, i cant move things in my image that all blinks.
After a support call, I've lowered the brightness on my imac OS 10.6.8 but the prints are darker than ever.
I've calibrated. The printer is an Epson 4900. Photoshop is managing the colors. I did not download the no color management app.
It seems difficult to make small on screen movements without the tool jumping. Would it be better use a low DPI mouse or a high DPI one? Wouldn't you get better control with a low DPI one?

Am using VS5. Have been able to burn HD blurays. how to make an HD dvd for big-screen tv playback.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am a new user of X4 and have used X2 for only about six months so some of my questions may seem lame, but here they are.
First, I upgraded to X4 to get rid of that annoying AVCHD blip problem (it worked). But, I have become increasingly frustrated that the quality of my DVDs are still fairly poor to my mind. I have been taking HD videos of my daughter playing soccer and the videos look good on my computer (in clip mode, anyway, as opposed to project mode, which probably takes more processing power than I have). However, they don't look that good to me when I watch DVDs I have created.
The camcorder is a Sony HDR – CX150 and its native MTS files are 1440x1080. After some reading, I discovered that standard DVD conversion plummets the resolution to 720x480, or 480p. So, perhaps that is part of the answer for why a standard DVD format of the soccer game doesn't look so nice on a 37" 720P or 1080i LCD Vizio TV? The 720x480 picture is being stretched to fit? OK, but why does motion look so bad? The image is decent when people are standing still, but I see a lot of blur and, sometimes, streaking when the camera pans or people start to run. What can I do about that?
I tried upping the bitrate for the DVD MPEG settings (from 6800 to 9800), but that did not work. I thought perhaps I could try making an AVCHD DVD using the 1920x1080 resolution and play it on my Blu-ray player (a Samsung BD-P1590) to see if that might look good. It didn't. In fact, it seemed to be the same or even slightly worse.
So, how do I get the good quality videos I am taking to translate to the TV screen? I have tried two different DVD players and TVs as well as my laptop.
Dimension elements do not appear clear on the screen. I want to Imaging the screen to use the image in another. How do I make the dimensions clear ?

In some of the Photoshop "Extended" versions, there was a function in which one could apply a known measurment to an image and then determine other dimensions in the image. For example, if one were designing a sign for a building and shot a picture of the building with a known 5' doorway, one could use the measure tool (or whatever it was called in that function) to tell Photoshop that the doorway was 5'-0" wide.
From there, after you laid in the sign design, and used the measure tool on the sign image, Photoshop would tell you the dimensions of the sign based on the scale you set with the doorway. Now for the big question: One, does that function still exist, and two, if so, where do you find it?
I'm recording measurements (gray value) in a selection, using the "record measurement" in the measurement log panel. I need to repeat this over thousands of images. I've written an action that opens the images one by one (batch process), records the measurement and closes them.
However, after exactly 700 measurements, Photoshop stops and says that it cannot record this measurement. I've tried this with CS4 and CS5 (extended) as well, and I get the same result. why Photoshop measurement log has this "700 entry" limit?
I’m designing a DVD case cover. I’m printing it with my home printer, when I’m measuring it on the paper it larger than it specified in Photoshop. I have tried to check and uncheck the “Scale to Fit Image but its still not accurate. My image is : 297x210 Res : 300ppi Why the measurement on the paper and the document size in Photoshop are not the same? something to do with the printer driver? Any help?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm here with 2013 SP2 64 bit Build 200 and two screens. Left screen is graphics area, Browser is on the left of right screen. Graphics is ATI Fire Pro V7800 with driver 9.3.3.3000.
In video (zipped MP4)Â you see a cutout of both screens, think of screens changing at the left of the browser.
Now, in many cases, after doing an operation, the browser is jumping back to the middle of my graphics in the left screen.
I need to have an image appear as full screen initially and then reduce in size and sit top left of screen so that it remains visible, whilst other images come and go across the remainder of the screen.
I am using VS Pro X5 Ultimate, 64 bit Windows 7
I am unable to save .pdf versions of color separations. I followed the tutorials (changed all colors to cmyk or spot colors, selected the printer adobe post script, changed the output to Separations (host-based), desected the colors I didn't want on the separations), but something goes wrong when I save. When I click save, I am given no option to save the separation as a .pdf. The program seems to be unable to save the separation as any sort of readable file. In the drop down box where it should provide a .pdf option, it merely says "All Files." If I save my separation using this option, then Illustrator creates a file unreadable by Acrobat Reader.

I am using CS4 Extended on Windows 8.
I'm trying to set the scale of my picture in CS6 but everytime I got to analysis -- set measurement scale I can't select it! View 6 Replies View Relatedway to quantitatively measure the level of light intensity in different conditions. I know there are light intensity gauges that measure lumens and fc's but I was wondering if there is a way to measure the brightness of an image using photoshop?
So far I have noticed that there is a way to change basically everything about an image but I haven't found anything that gives me information about the picture itself besides its size and resolution.
Does anybody know how to measure light intensity or brightness of an image?
I have a three button mouse. I can use Shift + Center button to orbit my drawing. problem it, the stuff is always flying off the screen because the pivot point is at the center of the drawing / part / assembly/etc. This annoys me to no end. How do I change the Orbit Pivot to default to the center of the screen?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIProblem 1: Tool Palettes on top of image.
I'm using a 15" thinkpad laptop, with I think 1024 x whatever highest resolution. When I use Gimp, my screen real estate is being eaten up by the tool palettes more so than the image I'm trying to work on. I like the tool palettes - I'd like them to stay open - BUT what I'd really like is for the image to lay over top of the palettes, rather than the palettes lying over top of my image.
Problem 2: Zooming and scrolling in the image.
I'm not too sure what was different about photoshop in this regard, but I'm having a bear of a time getting my images to zoom and scroll in the manner I was used to in photoshop. What can I change in the Gimp settings to make it behave more like photoshop in that regard? I found one setting to increase window size as the image zooms, but that was worse.
I like a lot of the aspects of Gimp, but these two things are preventing me from getting to use it very much presently.
in Photoshop Extended (CS6), when I set a custom measurement scale and save/close the file, the scale information is not retained after the file is reopenend. I have experimented with both .psd and .tif files. I used to be able to do this in CS3 without any trouble!

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was under the impression that the rulers across the top and bottom of the canvas were measuring the length and width of the window at the given resolution.
However, this can't be the case, because I notice that when I crop a photo down from a width of 70 to a width of 20 on the ruler, when the crop finishes, the width of the canvas is back to looking like 70, so the ruler is not absolute, but some kind of relative measure? And is there a way to get an absolute ruler either of any unit?
In CS6 how do you disable or turn off the "measurement/info" fly out box, for example I am using the line tool to clean up a graphic, however at the point of my curser, the info panel is in the way and I cant see what I am tyring to erase.
