Photoshop :: How To Change A 2d Image So That It Looks 3d
Nov 19, 2007
I've designed an image that I want to use as a arcade game control panel and I want to make it seem 3d, as the image is currently a rectangle.
I want to pull the image in at the top corners whilst retaining its dimensions so that it looks like your'e looking down on the control panel (hope Im explaining this ok?)

I am trying to take a handprint such as the one below and change the color of the handprint to say a light pink (or any color) but I want to keep most of the detail of the fine lines that make this handprint unique. The lines could even just come out as white as below. The main thing is to change the overall color while maintaining the fine details. I have been trying to accomplish this for over a week now in Photoshop Elements 11 and I have been unsuccessful as anything I do just totally color fills the image, which does not keep any details of the handprint.

I want to print an image using an online service and the attached image shows the dimensions. I'm VERY new to Photoshop and want to know if I can just enter a larger size into the fields to print it at say, 8.5 x 11 and, if so, do I need to do anything else to prepare the image for this?

I sent the attached PDF -URL....to print with Sense Creative. The cards were printed and they've turned out quite visibly green on the reverse (where it should be white).
I've printed the artwork on several printers I have access to and it looks as it should, however SC are saying that the issue is with the artwork
"The green tinge you see on the reverse of these cards is prevalent in the artwork. The makeup of the background is approximately c-15 m-11 y-15 k-0. the predominant levels of the yellow and cyan will give you the green tint. Upping the levels of the artwork in or substituting the cyan, magenta and yellow levels with more black in Photoshop will likely give you the result you require. We are satisfied that in both instances, the artwork has printed correctly and the colours are well within tolerance given the nature of the artwork."
So, I'm in a bit of a pickle as the cards are needed for an event next week. How do I change the image levels? Or are they talking nonsense and trying to pass the buck?

Just wonderinf if anybody could help with to change colour of map image attached to a different colour (image attached). As you can see the map as 'small dots' like a grid over it, so I cannot do a normal 'seclection' of area and 'paint bucket' action.

I'm not sure if this can be done on photoshop cs2 or other adobe program, but here's the question anyway:
I have a jpg file of text characters(attached) and like to:
#get rid of the white background
#change the characters to different color or maybe add texture or shadow
#and convert the image into a vector
any tips on how to do this? I'm still very new at using graphics software. my objective is to use it as a watermark.

I'm trying to adjust the size of a specific image after the initial placement. I have tried "image size" and adjusted either by pixel size or percentage- but each time I do this it just adjusts the size of my entire canvas- not the individual photo I'm trying to adjust.

(scroll right down the bottom to the blue swirly background)
I'd like to keep the swirl lines blue but make the solid parts of the background white. I have tried obvious things like magic wand, some filters, etc. but nothing I try seems to work.

I'm using CS3 and I'm putting together a small magazine. The printer who will be doing the printing insists that all images are 300 dpi, however, some of the images people have sent me to insert in the magazine are only 120 dpi. If I manually change it to 300 dpi in the Image Size dialogue box in Photoshop, does it actually increase the resolution? I was of the opinion that the original image has to be 300dpi and that it wasn't possible to alter it, but now I'm not sure.

iMac, OS 10.8.5 Photoshop CS 6. I have activated the Graphics Display Unit (or whatever it is called) and, with an image in Photoshop and its Layer selected, I do Filters > Render > Lighting Effects. I get the panel on the right called Properties and under it some sliders for Color, Hotspot, etc.
Burt moving the sliders makes no change to the image. Tutorials say that I should get a white elliptical shape with white blobs which should allow me to alter the lighting effects, ("Lighting Controls"?) but nothing appears. The tutorials show a "Menu Bar" should appear just under the three coloured blobs at the top left of the main window. That "Menu Bar" shows, from left to right, something like: a light bulb; Presets-Custom; Lights and three tiny blobs; some thing else; and at the right end, a check; Preview; Cancel; and OK in blue.
I think that "Menu Bar" with Preview checked must appear before I can use the lighting controls on the image. How the heck do I get to see a preview so that I can see and use the lighting controls?

I am trying to change the colour of a selection of an image - in this case a mug. So obviously, I want the mug and the mug only to change colour (and not the area inside the handle).
The mug is white meaning I cannot adjust the hue/saturation.

I have web pages which worked fine with their colors until perhaps 1-2 year ago [URL]. Then happened a change which is demonstrated as a change in the darkness of the gray image elements in the pages, mostly in Safari which, to my knowledge, can read color profiles. The pages have a basic gray background, originally #9a9a9a, and they contain image elements, such as the title of the image series, and other components, which I liked to be embedded in the coded color. So, initially, in the gray background, the gray background color of the image elements was the same as the coded color: only the text of the image elements popped out in pages. The problem is, as you already have figured out, that the background gray of the image elements is not anymore the same as the browser-coded gray. I've read, for example, this thread [URL]. What I've done is the following: I converted the original file with the AdobeRGB color space to sRGB in PS6. In this conversion, the background gray of an image element (#9a9a9a) changed to another (#9b9b9b). Then I saved this file as a CompuserveGIF which kept the color the same (#9b9b9b), as measured by the Eyedropper tool in PS6. I duplicated the file, put it in the site and looked the result: again Safari shows a clear color difference between the image element (with #9b9b9b) and the coded color (with #9b9b9b). In Firefox, no problem. So, I do not understand why the background color in the image element (#9b9b9b in the gif file, as measured by Eyedropper) shows a well recognizable difference in Safari with the the exactly the same color. Basically, I just liked to know how I need to convert an AdobeRGB file so that a browser's (Safari) gray is the same as the color the image element.

I have been trying to convert images to appear lijke B&W pen&ink drawings. I followed some instructions found on You Tube - (1) Duplicate Layer (2) Colour Dodeg (3) Invert (4) Gussian Blur and (5) Reduce Saturation.... However, when a layer is in "Colour Dodge" and I slide the saturation to -100, it appears to contain colour. Even though the opacity of that layer is 100%, the layer below seems to show through. The only way I can get it to go B&W is by also changing the layer below to B&W (or no saturation).

I recently turned down a job (foolish I know) because I didnt have a clue how to go about doing it.
I was asked by a shoe company if I was able to photoshop a load of images of white wedding shoes and change each one into the 35 colours they offer.
Attached is the sample they sent me which I've cobbled together showing one of the colours they do (green) and one of the white shoes that would need changing.
Now while Im not a photoshop pro, I have the basic grasp of selecting objects using the quick selection tool etc.
The two burning questions for me would be:
1) once I've selected the area of the shoe that needs changing, how to change the colour. I know I could "paint" the shoe with a colour and set it to say 50% transparent so you can see see the shadow etc but how do you change it and keep all of the shading etc?
2) The reflection - this seems a near impossible task. How to select just the bits needed?!

I have been using CS4, 5, 6, LR 4, LR5. I never experienced this until 6 months ago.
I was using LR4 to edit image, then export to CS5 to do retouched. Once I finished editing the image, I saved it as JPEG in my computer. When I upload to Facebook, the color looks normal. But when I upload to, for instance, Craigslist, or some other web host, I see the color tone changed, and you can see how it changed in the picture below.
I tried to figure out what happen. I bought a new computer, I got a new CS6, LR5, etc. The problem still there.
I am guessing the problem is the Camera Raw, so that I downloaded and installed Camera Raw 8.1 to my CS6. But no luck.
The only solution I have so far is to save the pictues as "Save for web" in CS6 and it doesn't change the color when I upload to any website.
PS. I never have any problem like this before. I tried to use my old pictures from a year ago, and upload to the web.. they look fine.

Image is 800px x 150px, i want to change the opacity in the top left of the image for a rectangular section of 300px x 50px.
So i thought i would highlight the section(300px x 50px) with the rectanglar marquee tool, which gives a dotted rectangle, now i thought by changing the opacity slider over on the right side in the layers palet then this would work, but instead the opcaity for the whole image is still changed, how do i have only the section i want to change the opcaity for?

I have a burning question. In CS4, when I use the Image Size command, the default units are centimetres instead of inches under Document Size part of the dialog box.
I know that keeping rulers set to inches will change that default, but I distinctly remember the time when I was able to keep my rulers set to pixels, and my Image Size to inches at the same time.
Something changed at some point and I can't figure out what. How can I keep my rulers set as pixels, but the Image Size dialog box to inches at all times?
