Feb 5, 2007I've just updated to PS 9.01 and all my fonts (including Truetype) have gone bitmapped.

View 2 RepliesWhat is people's preference in regards to TrueType or PostScript fonts? Is one that much better than the other? I have read a bit on both these formats to understand the techincal stuff behind them, and there doesn't seem to be much between them. I understand you have to have Adobe Type Manager installed to use PostScript fonts, but i read that it's better to use them when having work professionally printed. However, i am not sure exactly why this is, and if the advantages of PostScript fonts in this regard is worth the expense of purchasing Adobe Type Manager. I have always used TrueType fonts (as do most people), but as i'm getting more work printed professionally, i got to wondering about PostScript fonts.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy customer is recently importing our drawings (.dxf preferably, but pdf is acceptable) and they need single stroke fonts / polylines to ensure that the file import will be successful (otherwise, with true type fonts, the contours and filling separate and shift, which makes the text unreadable).
All fonts in Inventor (.idw files) are true type fonts, and I can't find any option to stroke the fonts when exporting to .dxf or .pdf.
Raster images are not allowed, so I cannot simply export the file as an image and then back to a vector file. Any option I just don't see in the export settings...
I just upgraded to X5 (from X3). Many of the fonts that I have in my used are missing. I went through the Bit Stream Font Navigator and cannot located them there either. Many of my existing customer files require those fonts for use in their logos...etc. I also went to myfonts as indicated and did not see them there.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIt is well documented that when text objects using a TrueType font (ie Arial) have a non zero elevation that they do not display correctly. Before we upgraded (in May our office upgraded from C3D2009 to C3D2014) I was meticulous about making sure our text objects always had a zero elevation and we largely avoided any problems.
However in Civil 3D 2014 it seems that by default contour label objects and certain other label objects are given a non-zero elevation (they are assigned the elevation of the contour or in the case of a pipe network object, the manhole rim elevation). Thus the text in these labels displays incorrectly.
This is a very frustrating problem as we are now faced with having to revert all of our styles back to .shx based fonts. Is Autodesk aware of the bug?
We are using an iFilter that reads DWG files but it only seems to get text displayed in a TrueType font. Can you reccommend an iFilter that reads/indexes/catalogs all the text on a DWG file no matter the font?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am currently using this method, creating a 1-bit bitmap from a grayscale "distress" texture bitmap, choosing transparent fill or outline depending on which area i need trasparent and powerclip it in text or other vector object.
Is there a way to achieve the same distress effect with transparency with FILL ? pattern fill maybe? eg can i save in some format this bitmap to use it maybe as a pattern in pattern fill and retain transparency ?

I have a screenshot, which I have cropped to a specific area to show a specific part of a window: a shape with a bitmap fill, or a cropped bitmap whichever way you consider it.
Next I have another screenshot, of exactly the same dimensions, showing the same window - but showing that window in a different state.
Both screenshots are bitmaps in my document, both appear in the Bitmap Gallery.
I'm not sure if something changed in recent versions of Xara, or I have forgotten the drag+key combination, but how can I drag the second bitmap onto a copy of the first bitmap-filled shape so that the SAME part of the bitmap is shown?
Using different combinations of SHIFT and CTRL I seem to be able to replace all instances of the first bitmap with the second: It is scary that a shape with a bitmap fill offscreen or on another page can be changed unwittingly!
I'm perfectly happy with the TrueType font (BankGothic Md BT), but all the style settings change to the T1 equivalent every time I close, and when I open the file again the T1 text does not show up. I can go through and reset all the styles, then re-apply them, but it wastes a lot of time.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOnce I installed windows 7, while I WAS using PSE 9, I had the tiny font problem. I stopped using PSE for 2 years. I just installed PSE 11. Though better, the Font is still way smaller than I would like. Maybe it's just tougher for seniors? Can they not make the font adjustable? I was told there is no way to increase the size of the font?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIt used to be that I very rarely used fonts within CS5 but recently I have. I realized that all of the fonts supposedly included with CS5 are not available via my drop down menu.
I then found these fonts in Windows/fonts so I copied all of those fonts into Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Fonts. These unavailble fonts are now listed in that folder but are still not available via the dropdown menu in PS CS5.
I've recently read that the fonts don't really even NEED to be in the Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Fonts folder and that PS should actually make all of the fonts in Windows/Fonts available via the dropdown menu. Yes, I have restarted PS after copying the files and also tried rebooting my PC after copying the files. The fonts are still not available via the drop down text menu within PS even though all of them are now in both locations.
I have put some new fonts into C:/windows/fonts and they have come up in other programs e.g. Microsoft office but they are not showing up in photoshop.
i am using vista home premium with SP1 and it is 32bit and photoshop cs4.

View 10 Replies View Relatednever knew there has a font folder in the user profile for Gimp until I wiped my user profile and moved all patterns, gradients, brushes, etc I have been putting in the program folder to the user profile folder because I read on here that it is better to keep all that stuff in the user profile folder of Gimp... my question is, what is the difference between installing your fonts into the system and placing them into the fonts folder in Gimp (besides all programs being able to use them)?? I've been installing all my fonts into the system I wanna use in Gimp... is it better to use the font folder in the Gimp user profile or to install them into the system?

View 3 Replies View Relatedhow to get Gimp to only showfonts from the user/fonts file rather than the vast amount of system fonts.
I think you should read the original mail again. Hint: "system fonts not shown" is not the problem, but the desired outcome.I have accidentally read a "not" into the original mail, thus it became "to get Gimp to *not* only show fonts from the user/fonts file"
The configuration to check is the fonconfig settings then, for example the the global, system-wide fonts.conf file. It may contain references to the global font directories, for example /usr/share/fonts/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts. URL....
If you comment those out, then you can (and have to) add all font directories in GIMP's settings, for example.

I scanned a black and white painting of bamboo leaves on an Epson scanner as a black and white (bitmap) image, saving it as a TIF file. The painting was compose of solid black leaves on white paper background. If I Place that image directly into an InDesign document I am working on, the white background of the image is automatically made transparent — which is exactly what I need in this case. If, however, I open the image in Photoshop to manipulate it, the transparent background becomes solid white, and I have to change the file to grayscale to edit it and erase the white background. Is there a way to import the TIF into Photoshop with it's transparent background intact?

View 1 Replies View Relatedi'm trying to tile the background of a document with a 8 pixel by 8 pixel image i have open in another document.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI always thought that the pixel size of a bitmap image was driven by the resolution of the file. I have recently found that this isn't so.
Here is my situation:
I have an existing bitmap that when I zoom in to 1600% and measure the pixel size is .003". I don't have access to the original greyscale the bitmap was created from, and going back to greyscale, blurring, re-rezzing and converting back to bitmap is not prefered.
What I am looking for is any suggestions on how to change the pixel size of an existing bitmap. I am re-sizing several so they are all placed at the same size and I want all of the pixels or spots to be the same size.
The company I am working for want me to send my scanned black and white pages in bitmap mode instead of grayscale. The problem I am having is my line work is becoming very pixelated when converting to bitmap.
Program- Photoshop CS6
I have a 1 bit bitmap file but when I convert to grayscale and then on to CMYK the black CMYK components end up as:
C: 75%
M: 68%
Y: 67%
K: 90%
I need to keep black at 100% but all the other values to be at 0%, so:
C: 0
M: 0
Y: 0
K: 100%
How I can do this?
What happened to the transparency in eps bitmap images? I used to be able to create a duotone with transparency in earlier versions of Photoshop. I would save a black & white image, as bitmap eps file. I could import/place it into a psd file to create a transparent dutone image. Now when I place into a PSD/photoshop inside the image is white and no transparency. I'm using CS6.

The banners will be exported from InDesign to PDF. Now I wonder what's best: importing the background texture in InDesign and placing the other images on top of it (which means that I need hires bitmaps with transparent backgrounds), or should I create the banners in Photoshop (whole composition) and save them to hires bitmaps?
how can I save a hires bitmap in Photoshop? Or what is the definition, the settings etc. of a hires bitmap?
