View 1 RepliesI have a screenshot, which I have cropped to a specific area to show a specific part of a window: a shape with a bitmap fill, or a cropped bitmap whichever way you consider it.
Next I have another screenshot, of exactly the same dimensions, showing the same window - but showing that window in a different state.
Both screenshots are bitmaps in my document, both appear in the Bitmap Gallery.
I'm not sure if something changed in recent versions of Xara, or I have forgotten the drag+key combination, but how can I drag the second bitmap onto a copy of the first bitmap-filled shape so that the SAME part of the bitmap is shown?
Using different combinations of SHIFT and CTRL I seem to be able to replace all instances of the first bitmap with the second: It is scary that a shape with a bitmap fill offscreen or on another page can be changed unwittingly!
Sometimesw you want to color the fill of a bitmap without the fuss of opening another app. For example, Bitmap files in corel color differently. Is there an equivalent to this in Xara?

About five years ago I had to prepare a series of cave maps and one of the caves was in granite. I needed to have the geological symbol for granite as a fill for use in the various cross sections. OK. I made the fill (a random scattering of "V"s) and used it. And kept the file, lets call it A.
Switch to now. I am making a map of an arch that I explored last year. The map is almost finished and I need the fill again. This is map B.
My question is how to I get the fill out of map A so as I can use it in Map B?
I know the answer is possibly very simple but not obvious to me. I have tried a workaround which involved importing the whole map A into Map B and then removing the original. This worked but seems really kludgy.
It's not a biggy or even a buggy.
But where has the rightclick>replace bitmap function gone?
Now one needs to go through the menu>import and adding through the bitmap gallery or fill gallery adding a folder again.
For me dragging from win explorer doesn't work.
At least not adding it to an object, only adding a new photo to the page
Is there a way to have the bitmap fill of an object stretch a skew with the object as the handles are moved?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't know if it is the update or not but every time I fill a rectangle with noise and create a bitmap copy and try to erase the white with Medhi eraser classic XP&GD and XDPX now stops working. I have tried this over and over with the same result, or should I say lack of a result? All I am trying to do is make a star field. This is the same basic method I used before to create animated snow..
View 7 Replies View Relatedis there a quick way to fill a circle/ellipse/polygon object with a bitmap image/ photo? I have a bunch of photos i would like to put into these objects and would like to have them filled/fitted into the objects and clipped by the outer extent. I guess a picture fill of some sort? Or a mask?

In X5 when converting a cmyk meshfill to cmyk bitmap there is often an unacceptable shift in colour.
The only workaround I have found to maintain cmyk values is to export mesh fill as pdf and then save as bitmap in Acrobat.
Does same behaviour occurs in X6? Sample file attached.

I am currently using this method, creating a 1-bit bitmap from a grayscale "distress" texture bitmap, choosing transparent fill or outline depending on which area i need trasparent and powerclip it in text or other vector object.
Is there a way to achieve the same distress effect with transparency with FILL ? pattern fill maybe? eg can i save in some format this bitmap to use it maybe as a pattern in pattern fill and retain transparency ?

How do I get it so that when I draw a shape it will fill with color? In my options bar there is a rectangle with color where I can choose that, but sometimes that's not up. How do I pull it up?
How do I fill a canvas with color without having to cover it with a large rectangle to fill? I've gotten answers to this but none has solved the problem.
When I use the fill tool to simply 'fill' a selection, it does not completely fill it. There is an ivisible barrier or line that prevents it from filling all the way to the edge. Do you think I have my settings wrong?
View 2 Replies View RelatedOkay, so it's been a while since I've done one of these, and I haven't done one on 2014 at all yet.
I've got a fairly simple part, it's about 6" long x 3" wide, less than 3/8" thick, without a whole lot of complex geometry to work with. I've built up my whole mold for it, and that went okay, but the fill analysis seems like it's taking forever. Like hours. It gets to the "Fill" stage, gets just a sliver of green on the progress bar, and then sits.
Last time I tried this was on my workstation at the office, using 2013. It didn't take nearly this long, and the part was much larger and far more complex, with a significantly slower computer.
Is something broken with this in 2014? I guess I can just let it run overnight, see what happens in the morning ...

I used a heart fill pattern of the right 75% of the picture and the left 75% of the picture is selected overlapping the first fill in the background... I want to fill the selected background area with a flame fill pattern where it overlaps the selected portion of the heart pattern as well as the transparent area... 'overlay' looks better but Gimp is FAILING to fill the transparent areas, it ONLY fills the overlapped heart pattern portion of the selected content!!! I even tried filling the transparent area with 'white' then filling the selected area, but it STILL ONLY wants to overlay fill the heart pattern, it STILL leaves the rest alone!!! it doesn't matter if the background is white or transparent, it leaves that alone and ONLY fills the heart pattern area of selected portion of the image!!!
In Corel PhotoPaint X5, changing the fill color was possible by e.g. double clicking the (left-most) color square, then hitting Edit. Already, I found this was a bit too many clicks. Now in Corel PhotoPaint X6 it's gotten worse -- after hitting Edit, I'm not in the left-most tab "Models", but in the right tab "Palettes"!
My question: Is there any way I can open the Uniform Fill dialog with one click? (The Color Docker doesn't have a big color preview field so it doesn't work well for me when selecting and changing a color.) And is there any chance Corel will fix the bug with the wrong tab being opened?
I traced an image earlier, expanded it then wanted to change the line colour. For some reason I couldn't get this to work even though I've done it in the past. So, I used the magic wand to select the line then dragged it into my new document and changed the line colour.
Now, I want to change the fill on certain sections, however when I change the stroke it changes the colour of the line and when I change the fill it changes the color of the line.
I just added a fill/texture to an image and now when I create more objects, the fill is still there. How can I re-set the fill gallery back to no-fill?

1. Please auto switch between Stroke fill and fill when I select text. 99% of my time is spent only using fill on text. I would rather manually switch to Stroke when I want to add a fill to it rather having to switch to fill each time.
2. Same for Stroke, from point 1.
3. Add an auto layer for Guides. When I am using the Scissors tool, the majority of the time I don't want to cut my guides up, I would rather instead cut up the shape below it. Again manually changing the layer to select the guide would be preferable.
4. I personally never use the Eraser tool and I switch to the Scissors Tool. Without fail every time I launch Illustrator I have to switch from the Eraser Tool too the Scissors tool. Please add cookies or something so I don't have to always switch to the Scissors Tool.
5. Move "Align to Pixel" toggle somewhere outside a file menu.
Im making some little buttons with filled backgrounds. Below is an example. Is it possible to adjust the resolution of the fill, lets say smaller, to make it look more crisp on the button?

The above looks nice, but the one below, this is suppose to be snow but the resolution is so large you cannot tell what it is.

I scanned a black and white painting of bamboo leaves on an Epson scanner as a black and white (bitmap) image, saving it as a TIF file. The painting was compose of solid black leaves on white paper background. If I Place that image directly into an InDesign document I am working on, the white background of the image is automatically made transparent — which is exactly what I need in this case. If, however, I open the image in Photoshop to manipulate it, the transparent background becomes solid white, and I have to change the file to grayscale to edit it and erase the white background. Is there a way to import the TIF into Photoshop with it's transparent background intact?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI always thought that the pixel size of a bitmap image was driven by the resolution of the file. I have recently found that this isn't so.
Here is my situation:
I have an existing bitmap that when I zoom in to 1600% and measure the pixel size is .003". I don't have access to the original greyscale the bitmap was created from, and going back to greyscale, blurring, re-rezzing and converting back to bitmap is not prefered.
What I am looking for is any suggestions on how to change the pixel size of an existing bitmap. I am re-sizing several so they are all placed at the same size and I want all of the pixels or spots to be the same size.
The company I am working for want me to send my scanned black and white pages in bitmap mode instead of grayscale. The problem I am having is my line work is becoming very pixelated when converting to bitmap.

I have a 1 bit bitmap file but when I convert to grayscale and then on to CMYK the black CMYK components end up as:
C: 75%
M: 68%
Y: 67%
K: 90%
I need to keep black at 100% but all the other values to be at 0%, so:
C: 0
M: 0
Y: 0
K: 100%
How I can do this?
What happened to the transparency in eps bitmap images? I used to be able to create a duotone with transparency in earlier versions of Photoshop. I would save a black & white image, as bitmap eps file. I could import/place it into a psd file to create a transparent dutone image. Now when I place into a PSD/photoshop inside the image is white and no transparency. I'm using CS6.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm currently working on some banners which have to be printed on 4m94 x 1m05. I have a wood texture background and the foreground will consist of images that have been cutout in Photoshop.
The banners will be exported from InDesign to PDF. Now I wonder what's best: importing the background texture in InDesign and placing the other images on top of it (which means that I need hires bitmaps with transparent backgrounds), or should I create the banners in Photoshop (whole composition) and save them to hires bitmaps?
how can I save a hires bitmap in Photoshop? Or what is the definition, the settings etc. of a hires bitmap?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to do is create a rectangular frame or border around the outer edge of a CMYK bitmap image. I need to save the image as a Photoshop EPS and I need a vector border that won't be affected by resolution of output device (on screen, print, PDF, etc.).
I've tried "Select All" and create a path around the outer edge of the rectangle. How do I stroke this to get a vector frame that I can save as an EPS file? In the end, all I want is a half-point black rule around the rectangular edge of the image... nothing fancy, no special effects and no alteration of any internal element of the bitmap graphic. Just a border.
You know how you see the pictures that are traced via illustrator and such? well, is there a filter for this in photoshop? one to download? ive tried doing the tracing and such, well......doesnt come out so well But anytype of filter etc.
