GIMP :: Copy Editable Text From A Word File Into The Text Editor
Oct 28, 2013I'm trying to copy editable text from a Word file into the text editor for GIMP. Before I upgraded to 2.8, this was possible, but now it seems not. I'm on 2.8.4 using OSX Mavericks on a Macbook Pro.
I'm a terrible speller and since GIMP doesn't support spell check, this was always my workaround.

Mar 25, 2014I have text in a frame with a table in it, connected to a Word file. Every time I try to copy text in it, InDesign goes into a loop while it refers back to the original file. It does it a bunch of times, I assume (but don't know) once for every row in the table. The loop takes three or four minutes to complete and there's nothing I can do until it's finished... I want to break that link and just have it as a normal text box, rather than a placed one. How do I do that?

Jul 11, 2013I'm using an iMac and Illustrator CC. I created a text area box. I want to place text from an outside Word document into the area box. When I go to File>Place and locate the text file, I click on Place. When I'm returned to my Illustrator CC document, the original area box is deselected and my cursor is loaded and ready for me to drag out a new area box. Shouldn't the placed text fill the original area box?

Dec 12, 2013I wrote the sentence "The quick brown fox jumps over a lazy dog" in Times New Roman regular 12 pt. in Illustrator CS2. The file was saved as a pdf at "press quality." I wrote the same sentence with the exact some font in InCopy CS2 and exported it as a pdf at press quality. As shown in a zoomed-in screenshot from the respective pdfs, the text from Illustrator (top example below) is slightly different than the text from InCopy (bottom example below):
Is it just an unavoidable artifact of the way pdfs are rendered? I realize it's a minor gripe, but even slight bugs/features like this would never be tolerated in a professional publishing environment. What am I not understanding about vector images and/or pdfs?

InDesign gives me a text block with my text and I just re-size the columns. The text comes in all weird and I have to stylize it, of course. Sometimes I get some junk like nonbreaking characters and other hidden characters which screw me up until I figure out what's going on. Feb 8, 2012I have a lot of AutoCAD files which have embedded OLE objects (excel) inside. I want to be able to export only the text from the Excel OLE object using VBA (or Lisp, I don't mind which) without having to fire up the OLE application (i.e. Excel).
The embedded OLE objects have no link to any external files - so I imagine it must all be held somehow inside the AutoCAD file, but how it can be accessed?!!?

Jun 21, 2012i need to export 7 million points from a tin surface to text file with only NEZ in comma delimited format for Surfer 9 software. right now i have the civil 3d surface. but the export to csv stock reporting tool sucks. why the hell do you open the file and why leave an empty row between data points? so it's not usable.
also i have 12gb ram at work and it can't export surface points to autocad format ran out of memory. this is with surface display showing points and just the "dot" style so it's autocad points after export. i was originally planning on using "dataextraction" command in autocad to export to csv. worked on a small batch of file. so i think may work for the bigger file. but i would never know because i can't even get the points into autocad.
also yeah i would love to simplify the surface but it's so buggy that you asked it to remove 80% of the points it only remove 100k points at most out of 7 million. so not usable.
last resort is i can program something in vb.net but not much motivation on doing so.

Feb 18, 2013I'm looking for a way to be able to copy text from another program (Microsoft Word) and then, using the Text tool in Photoshop (CS6), paste that text, but where it retains the correct italics formatting I had in the other program--and not as an image of text (Ctrl+P), in which the formatting is present, as a flat image, but rather as an actual unpasteurized and editable Text layer.
For example, the sentence “I told you..” where 'told' is italics, simply pastes into Photoshop as "I told you.." without the original formatting. Is there a way to get Photoshop to recognize formatting from pastes without my having to manually re-apply the formatting myself? This would be a hassle over a long period of time. If necessary I would be willing to use a plug-in that allows for this sort of recognition.
