Photoshop :: Cs3 Continually Crashing On OS X
Jul 26, 2008
I'm running Photoshop CS3 on a Mac Pro running OS 10.5.4 and it continually crashes, for what I can see as no apparent reason. I've even had PS crash after simply opening an image!
I updated to CS3 at the same time as I updated to Leopard so I can't be sure whether it is CS3 that is more unstable or the latest version of OS X - either way it is absolutely infuriating.

I've bought the Adobe Web Premium CS4 package a while back (when they just released CS5) and I'm having huge issues now. Basically all my Adobe applications freeze up directly or do so when using them so I'm unable to get any work done.
Â
It used to be sporadically but recently it started happening more often up to the point that I can't start Photoshop, Dreamweaver or Illustrator without it freezing up the after the program is launched, when opening a document or working on an existing document. I've just shot a bunch of photo's at a fundraiser and want to edit the RAW images but both Photoshop and Bridge freeze up when I try to open the photo's.
Â
I'm on a 2010 iMac running OSX 10.7.5 with a 3.2GHz Intel Core i3 and 12GB memory. I realize CS4 on OSX is 32bits but problems with insufficient RAM shouldn't be a problem, I usually have 4-6GB RAM unused.

Due to some issues, I was told by HP support to update my display driver. I now have AMD Radeon HD 7950 but since installing this, Photoshop CS5 Extended and 64-bit keep crashing. I'm given the error:
Â
 Photoshop CS5 has stopped working
Â
Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled GPU Enhancements. Check the video card manufacturer's website for the latest software.
Â
GPU enhancements can be enabled in the Performance panel of preferences?

Host computer is an Intel Macbook Pro, 2.4G Core 2 duo preocessor, running OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) with a 128GB solid state drive and 8GB of 1067 Mhz DDR3 memory installed.
Â
It happened more than a few times while attempting to merge six Tiff files, each with a file size of almost 12MB. The result was the same even after trying the photomerge with just three of the almost 12MB Tiff files.
Â
I checked preferences to determine what the program's system memory requirements were, but discovered that I could not allocate more than 3GB of memory to PSE; it is recognizing not the 8GB which are installed but only 3GB.
Â
I wasn't able to detect how to include a text file attachment here. Hang reports were saved and can be submitted.

I understand that CS Live is dead, but my Illustrator CS5 seems to be always "phoning home" and making my current document inactive until I click on the Illustrator desktop. This happens any time I pause using Illustrator for just a few minutes. Is this really a CS Live issue? Is there a setting that will keep my open Illustrator document from going inactive on me?

I am having an issue with X6 installed on my laptop. Â When I try to save, the dialog pops up and flashes at a high rate and seems to be continually re-sizing. Â The only remedy seems to be to kill the process and lose the work. Â I am running Windows 7 Home Premium service pack 1 (32-bit) and release 16.2.0.998 of Corel Draw. Â This is not the demo version, it is a purchased license.

I have images that I export as a catalog from my notebook and external drive to my desktop . Did this all the time before the release candidate 4.1 without a hint of problems. With 4.1, it crashes 90% of the time....average export/import of a catalog I am running is about 3000 images. What is particularly wierd is that it crashes on multiples of 500. Normally first crash is at 500, the next at 1000 or 1500 and so forth.Â

cleaned up the fonts and its still crashing by simply scrolling thru to find a file to open and to make matters worse, my CS2 which hardly ever crashed now crashes just opening it. I am rather beside myself, I have an iMac running 10.6.8 with 4GB of memory. I would love to copy and paste the crash report but it's not letting me do that.

CS2 Photoshop is crashing quite often on a Macbook Pro.
Â
PS 9.0.2 (no available updates)
OSX 10.6.8 (using Rosetta obviously)
2.7Ghz Core2Duo
4GB RAM
Â
I've tried reinstalling CS2, reparing premissions and a new user account.
Â
The issue can occur when opening the program, opening a file or doing nearly any action when a file is open. No specific file seems to be causing it, sometimes it will run without a problem for an entire day and other it's constantly crashing.
Â
Here is one of the crash logs from the OSX diaglog after PS has crashed:

I downloaded the Photoshop CC/LR5 combo a few days ago, and since then the programs have been crashing my PC. (I've attached a screenshot.) This has happened at least 8 times, twice already this morning. Before I upgraded, I was using CS3 and LR4 and never had this issue.

I just joined Creative Cloud. I uninstalled my trial versions of CS6 (which were working just fine) and then installed CC versions of them. After Effects CC is working great. Photoshop CC, however, keeps on quitting the moment I try do something like apply an effect or resize the image. I'm not get a crash report from the Adobe Crash Reporter so here's the Apple crash report. I'm running 10.8.4 on a mid-2012 MacBook Pro '13 i5.

I have been having a lot of crashes lately at seemingly random times. I could be changing the opacity of a layer and it crashes, using puppet warp and it crashes, using free transform, so it doesn't seem to be a particular feature that is crashing it. My computer specs are as follows:
Â
Windows 7 Pro 64bit SP1
Intel Core i5-2400 3.1GHz
AMD Radeon HD 6350 512mb of RAM

Â
My Photoshop prefs are as follows:
Â
Photoshop uses 80% RAM

Use Graphics Processor is checked

I installed the CS4 Design Suite on my work computer (HP Compaq dc7600, Pentium 4 CPU 3.40 GHz, 2.49 GB of Ram, running Windows XP Professional, v 2002, Service Pack 3).I opened Photoshop and made some quick corrections on an image. Then, I scanning a document. Everything worked fine. Today, I downloaded and ran the Photoshop CS4 11.0.1 update, and now Photoshop won't stay running. I ran the app and tried to scan a document. It crashed before the document could scan. I ran the app again, this time naviating to a file, but it crashed before the file opened.

I have been using CS3, but all of a sudden, when launching, it now gets to the final page details with all the names in it etc. and then WHOOMPH it disappears and I'm back at the desktop.
I have tried removing all traces of it including in the registry and a full uninstall and re-install, but it still will not run.
I tried a system restore to 4 days, and 1 week, and 9 days before prior to when it started crashing, and it still fails to open up.
I can try other than reformatting?
I have gone back to my old CS2 which works fine.

I just downloaded the CS4 free trial, but as soon as I open an image, I get an error and the program closes. I called tech support, and they sent me here.
The exact message says (as soon as Photoshop opens "Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled GPU enhancements. Check the video card manufacturer's website for the latest software."
Then, as soon as I open an image, I get another error message and the whole program closes. Does anyone know how I should proceed? Do I need to download everything all over again?

Everytime I attempt to manipulate text in Windows CS2 the damn thing promptly closes. Ive tried reinstalling it and also reinstalling a few fonts too, but to no avail. Other photoshop functions seem to work ok, but changing the size or font of a word causes it to show me an incomplete word and then bam! back to square one.
