Paint.NET :: DPI - Image Pixels Is Also Scaled To Twice Resolution
Feb 24, 2012The DPI is modified from 96 to 192 and the image pixels is also scaled to twice resolution.But the screen the images size changes from 3 inch to 6 inch, when 100% zoom.This is wrong, the image should be displayed in what the size the image is.

May 1, 2013In some CS6 PSD documents (but not all), when I Select All (no feather) and then Copy, the result in the clipboard is one pixel smaller in height than the original—the bottom row is missing. This is verified by pasting, selecting the layer's contents, and reading the Info window, or by starting a new document which defaults to the clipboard image's size. One pixel too small. In addition, when I paste on top of the original (which usually my intention) you can see everything shift up by one pixel. (Showing that the image has been cropped at the bottom, rather than scaled.)
I am viewing everything at 100%.
Any guideline as to when this bug does or does not happen? I can't find a pattern--maybe it's any Copy that can fail and not just Select All? It seems like it may happen on a previously-scaled document (which I know messes up the text tool semi-permanently). But I hate having to go through the extra step of double-checking the dimensions of every single copy and paste. I'm really trying to get somewhere near my old CS3 productivity, but it's a struggle with all the new bugs!
(This is different from the bug where rectanbgular selections loose one pixel of vertical when you release the mouse button at 100% zoom, although it does sound related. That longstanding bug happens 100% of the time, but at least you can see in the Info box that it has happened—one more constant act of double-checking that PS6 work seems to need. Whereas in this bug, the Info window shows the correct full size of the document after you Select All—but when you Copy, the result has lost data.)
I see now that in the same document, something similar also happens when I simply flatten the document: a single-pixel row turns white... but at the top.
Flattened/background layers seem to be immune from the copy/paste height loss, so I thought I'd just flatten the image I want to copy... but the flatten itself loses data.

Aug 21, 2008I'm using CS3 and I'm putting together a small magazine. The printer who will be doing the printing insists that all images are 300 dpi, however, some of the images people have sent me to insert in the magazine are only 120 dpi. If I manually change it to 300 dpi in the Image Size dialogue box in Photoshop, does it actually increase the resolution? I was of the opinion that the original image has to be 300dpi and that it wasn't possible to alter it, but now I'm not sure.

May 29, 2013I have just begun using Illustrator CS6. I have a very simple image (.png file) that I would like to annotate with some arrows and some text. This file is what I guess you would consider a raster image (no vector graphics) that has a very limited color range. It has less than ten basic colors plus a gradient fill (shades of gray) in a few places.
I want to use illustrator to annotate this image with some lines with arrows and some text, but first, there are a few stray lines that I would like to eliminate. For example, there is a black line that I would like to "erase" by replacing all the black pixels in this line with white pixels. I tried to do this by selecting the "Paint Brush" tool and then selecting white as both my fill and my stroke color. After doing this, I position the cursor over the pixels I want to change but the cursor appears as a circle with a line through it, and it doesn't do anything.

File is a layered psd and will eventually be going to print.

Mar 17, 2013I realize the nature of my question maybe asking the impossible, but I have a low res image I downloaded from the internet, placed in an InDesign page, blew it up and printed it out. I was going for the distressed look that it has, it looks ok when I print it out considering it's low res and I blew it up fairly large. However, it's a little too pixelated to look professional when printed. Are they any tricks or things I can do to make it look higher res for print. I've attached the image as well as a screenshot of the InDesign file so you can see it in context.

Apr 12, 2013I am using Corel Draw X5. When I paste an Excel graph into Corel the resolution looks terrible. I can paste this same graph into most other programs and it looks fine. No matter what I do and no matter which special paste command I use I am not happy with the resolution of the graph - you can actually see the pixels. When I convert to PDF you can still see the pixels.

e.g. Let's say I have an image of a sheet of metal with a hole in it. Obviously, in a 2d image, it looks like a hole because part of edges of the metal will be shadowed where the hole is. But how would you edit the image to remove those shadows?
The reason I would need to remove those shadows is because I am importing the image into a game engine, and the bump map will be handling the shadow effects.

Photoshop :: Flatten Image Loses Contrast
Apr 18, 2012I'm using a Windows 7 icore7 machine. The file I'm working on is composed of six layers: 1) a masked Levels layer; 2) a masked Noise layer; 3) a masked Hipass layer; 4) a convert to BW layer; 5) a copy of the background layer; 6) the background layer. All the eyes on the layers are ON.
When I Flatten Image the contrasty look I've created with the Levels adjustment layer AND with the Hipass layer disappears and the flattened image no longer exhibits those qualities - in other words it reverts back to being soft, low contrast.
All the eyes are ON.
I tried various combinations of MERGE VISIBLE and the same thing happens.I swapped Hipass for Unsharp Mask and for Smart Sharpen and even more weirdness happens - These filters have no effect at all.

Dec 30, 2005Say you have a flattened image, a solid background and text of a differrent colour.
If you wanted to change the colour of the text is there some trick to simultaneously changing the pixels around the letters with slightly different hues (because of the antialiasing) into a relative colour?
i have attached a gif image of a letter zoomed in to give an example.
If you wanted to alter that text to say red could you do it?

Feb 21, 2008i put copyright text on my photos, i didn't flatten image but " save as" in JPEG,click "save" then before i close the photos , it said "save changes to the adobe photoshop document ...before closing?" then i clicked NO.
And now i opened these photos to change the size of the copyright text and year, i can't because there's no layer for the text, only a background which means the text and photo are in one layer. What should i do? or did i make a mistake somewhere?
