View 2 RepliesAfter spending time in PS elements 11 making changes in color and applying frames etc. I noticed after saving the file my resolution went from 5.5Mb to 847kb. Why is this?
View 29 Replies View RelatedI'm using Elements 11. In order to add watermarks to many JPG pics at once, I use the function "Process Multiple Files".
I select a source folder and a destination folder, and adds a three digit serial number to each file. I do NOT tick the checkbox marked "Change picture size". After that I define the watermark I want printed on my pics and hits OK. All the files in the source folder are processed and saved, with a new name in the destination folder. Fair and square.
But. The file size of the new file is heavily reduced, compared to the original. It goes from 10 MB down to 500 KB (in general). Why is that? Is there any way I can prevent it?
After selecting the first image, I cannot select the subsequent images I want to include in the the multiple image views available in PSE. How to override the PSE and choose the images I want in the multiple views?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using CS3 and I'm putting together a small magazine. The printer who will be doing the printing insists that all images are 300 dpi, however, some of the images people have sent me to insert in the magazine are only 120 dpi. If I manually change it to 300 dpi in the Image Size dialogue box in Photoshop, does it actually increase the resolution? I was of the opinion that the original image has to be 300dpi and that it wasn't possible to alter it, but now I'm not sure.

View 2 Replies View RelatedProblem: How to enlarge (100 times) image of multiple intersecting low resolution contour lines wile avoiding pixelation?
Simple answer: It can't be done.
Second thoughts: Well, under some circumstances it can be done... sort of. For example if lines are orthogonal to begin with then simple re-sample to nearest neighbor algorithm will do fine. If lines are simple enough, then tracing them with pen tool and recreating the original lines at higher resolution by stroking the paths with a brush will do also. Also if original lines are smooth and thick enough then some re-sampling, blurring and leveling can work (anisotropic diffusion filter may work) but will produce smoothing artifacts at corners.
From what I can see the problem boils down to creatively converting the original lines to vectors (paths / shapes) and avoiding the whole messiness of raster anti-aliasing. But here we face additional problems: Adobe trace engine is not smart enough to recognize geometric shapes, intersecting lines, straight edges, orthogonal lines and mathematical curves - just try to trace a font and you will end up with a baggy monster. Additionally, it appears that in Photoshop center-line trace is not possible and you are limited to outlines.
I have a series of pics (approx 80) that I'd like to load into Elements, with each photo going into a single layer. I google'd a series of old posts where somebody used a "script", but the links are no longer working and that trails is dead.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat is the best way to reduce an image's file size (say by 50%) so that someone with limited RAM can work on the file and then when they are done restore the file back to its 100% size for final output--without sacrificing resolution or pixels. File is a layered psd and will eventually be going to print.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen an image is cropped using the cropping tool to a preset aspect ratio (without specifying a resolution), the resolution of the cropped image is different than the original. I'd like to be able to understand exactly how this new resolution is determined and be able to calculate it myself. The help section of the software just says, "If you use a preset size, the resolution changes to fit the preset." But I'd like to know the details of how the resolution changes.
How the resolution of the cropped image is determined in Photoshop Elements?

View 4 Replies View RelatedOnce I transfer image files from the camera to the Organizer (PSE10), they are listed in the information panel window as having a resolution of 180. I use the printer more than the internet for these files, so I really want the resolution to be 300 or above, and would like to set a preference to that effect. I know that I can resize them individually, or by a group, but I'd like to get the resolution set properly in the first place rather than adding yet antoher setp in my post processing efforts. I am assuming that the resolution is set by PSE10 because I can't find anywhere in the camera's (Canon Powershot SX40 HS) user manual that mentions that the camera sets a resolution. Is there some way that I can adjust the resolution that PSE10 assigns the images when they are imported into the Organizer? I'm using Windows 7 with 12GB Ram.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an image (1200mm x 1200mm) very sharp and crisp. (A photo that i have worked on and has lots of detail) I drag this image onto a canvas size of 150mm x150mm - and the image loses all of its sharpness. It is not apparent until i zoom in to see the detail. (PSE10) I'm sure that there is a box somewhere to tick..........but i cannot find it.
when i drag it over, it is still the large size, so i grab the grips/handles and shrink to fit, then it pixelates?
I realize the nature of my question maybe asking the impossible, but I have a low res image I downloaded from the internet, placed in an InDesign page, blew it up and printed it out. I was going for the distressed look that it has, it looks ok when I print it out considering it's low res and I blew it up fairly large. However, it's a little too pixelated to look professional when printed. Are they any tricks or things I can do to make it look higher res for print. I've attached the image as well as a screenshot of the InDesign file so you can see it in context.
