Lightroom :: Virtual Copies In LR4 - Page Turn Icon / Copies Not Appearing?
Jan 13, 2013I am having an issue that cropped up as of late - I try to create a virtual copy of a photo, but instead of the normal page-turn icon in the bottom left and it auto-expanding to show the copies, it just creates a stack, and says "2" or "1 of 2" and the double line bars on both sides of the preview in Grid Mode. Is there a setting that I changed that caused that?

I would like to make a Shape ~ a Rounded Rectangle ~ and then I want to make a total of six that are exactly the same and aligned one under the other with the exact same amount of space between them.
I recall watching a video one time and it showed how to easily do this without just using the Alt key to make one Copy/Duplicate at a time etc. The author of the video made one Shape at the top and then an other at the bottom and the she went to the menu/options bar and chose something that allowed her to enter a number such as 6 (being the total sum) and then Boom!, they were all made and aligned perfectly.

Jul 13, 2012I like to work on the same image in two different windows in photoshop. I like to see different options with editing on two or sometimes open the original image again to apply image to tone down editing. When I click open in photoshop through LR4 it just goes to the file I was working on and doesn't open new copy. How can I open same file twice in raw format?

Oct 30, 2007I have a stock photo that I want to use that looks perfect except it is too small for what I wanted to use it for. I managed to aquire the same identicle image, only larger but the colors look totally different. Is there a quick and easy way (plugin or 3rd arty app even?) to make the second image's colors take on the exact same colors as the smaller copy? I really need to spend some time learning color correction, I know, but you'd think there'd be a one click solution for something like this.

Jun 29, 2013I have two MACs, one runs cs3 photoshop and the other runs cs6 photoshop. I cannot figure out for the life of my why I can only save 614 images on my flashdrive when using cs6 and I can get almost 1900 files (from the same folder where the 614 files came from) on the same type of flash drive when I use cs3.
Does cs6 store hidden copies of each file that I open and process? Or is the image size settings set larger than they are in cs3? It's becoming very costly having to use 2-3 customized flashdrives per client when I should only be using one per client

Mar 14, 2005i have an image of a babys eyes and want to make a page of that same image in mono, sepia, taking out the green, blue etc. in other words, all different representations of the eyes on one image.
i ve no problems with the changes in the eyes image, but dont know how to fill a new blank image with multiple copies of the eyes.

Nov 30, 2013I can't determine if I've encountered a bug or operator oversight. From within LR 5.2 I opened an adjusted [NEF] file in PSCC (not as a smart object) and added adjustment layers, etc. With file still open in PS, I returned to LR, made a virtual copy, changed LR adjustments, and attempted to "Edit in..." I simply get referred back to the existing canvas. I'd like to work with both, side by side, and save when I'm ready.

Jun 17, 2012If I select Edit Content on a Smart Object layer, and then select Duplicate Layer, will that put two copies of the original image in the file?
I used the Place command to bring high resolution images into a canvas of a much lower resolution. I've already spent a lot of time scaling and positioning the images on the canvas. But it turns out, I would now like to do certain editing on the original pixels of the images because of their greater resolution. Of course, that defeats the purpose of Smart Objects for non-destructive editing.
But there's no reason I can't keep two copies of an original image in a file, and destructively edit only one copy, right?

Jul 15, 2012I had it when CS5 was new. Now it has returned after 3 years. I get an unpredictable number of copies from my HP Office jet Pro 8000 Wireless printer when printing from Photoshop CS5. I do not have the same problem printing from other programs.
The problem is that I don't get the number of copies I ask for. If I set the number at 4 I may get only one. Some time later if I ask for 1 I may get 4 or 3 or 2. HP support asked me to "clear the print cache" by stopping and restarting the print spooler in the "services" list. That rectified the problem when it first happened, but now it has returned and the same process seems not to be working.

Nov 22, 2012I have been going through my catalog & find hundreds of old pictures what I should delete as they will almost certainly never be looked at or used again. If they were to be reused I could probably only need a copy that was much smaller in size. Rather than just delete them I was considering making the files size much smaller.
Is there any way yo use the batch processing tool to resize hundreds & have them saved by overwriting the old copy rather than have them as a version set? I didn't want to do this one at a time.

Jul 20, 2012I see numerous redundant copies of every font family style listed when I select a font family STYLE of any typeface, such as Helvetica or Arial, for example.
Throughout the day the list increases copies of each style exponentially by the hour. At the end of the day I am scrolling through 98 copies of Helvetica Bold to get to the next style, like Black. There should only be one Helv. Bold, one Black, one Condensed, and so on.
My fonts are cleaned and organized frequently with any corrupted fonts being removed immediately. I use FontExplorer X, Font Doctor and other type apps to manage fonts because FontBook is still retarded.

Feb 8, 2013I took a promo portrait of a book author that needs to be in color and b&w depending on where it will be used (b&w on the book sleave, color on a flyer, etc). I have a vitual copy for the b&w image which has different contrast settings, otherwise they are identical. Normally I only have one photo to deal with if I need to use Photoshop, and it's aways my last step. This is a little different in that if I don't want to adjust the contrast on the edit, I will have to eyeball the same brush strokes both copies, which will never exactly match. Is there any way to do an identical Photoshop "Liquify" edit on both?

Feb 23, 2013I am using Photoshop Elements 10 on Win 7 PC. I am trying to print multiple copies of one image on a single 8.5x11 sheet of paper? The images are artwork for buttons (to be used in button-making machine) so the dimensions must be exact on the duplicated images. When I select Picture Package, the images are resized to fit the dimensions in the picture package. When I select Contact Sheet, the images are resized to fit the number of columns I selected. Neither is acceptable. How can I repeat the same image on a single piece of paper without having the system re-size the image? I know that I can manually create a new PSE file and manually insert the images into this file. This is what I have been doing as a work-around.

May 29, 2008I am working in Illustrator CS (but this also happens when I open the file in CS3). I am on a Mac.
When I choose "open" or when I double click a particular file in the finder to open it, Illustrator opens two copies of it. FYI, the original file is named "AuroraTank.ai" But, when Illustrator opens the file, it opens one copy as "AuroraTank.ai:1" and the other "AuroraTank.ai:2". If I edit one of them it makes the changes simultaneously on both.
All of my files do not open this way so I must have saved it with a certain setting? What did I do to make Illustrator behave like this and how do I stop it?
Illustrator :: CS4 Opens 3 Copies Of A File?
Dec 31, 2008It is only happening with 2 files, created in CS4. When I go to open either of these documents, I get 3 previews opening at once. I restarted Illustrator, I also tried saving one of the documents as a CS3 document and the problem happens every time. All of magnifications are different, one is at 99.37% and the 2 other open files are also at random magnifications. Is there a way to stop this from happening?

I installed it on my PC, on which also have LR3, made the adjustments I wanted in "focus Magic", then copied them to a disc. When I go to copy them into LR on my Mac, it won't allow it, as the photos "already exist" on the system. I have also tried this on different occasions for different reasons with the same result.

May 30, 20131. Made virtual copies, count goes up, can't see them in grid in library, develop, or in loupe. Thought they were stacked, but when I went to Photo>stacking> the rest is all grayed out...can't do anything. "set as master copy" also grayed out,. Read somewhere "preferences for lightroom might be corrupt"???? I tried to do the thing in the library to correct the preferences,:(on moubntain lion 10.8.3), but in the user file there is no library...so I then looked up how to find the hidden library, but I can't find the stuff to do THAT!!! And, there IS a library on my hard drive, but when I open THAT up, there isn't anything about preferences.
I JUST bought this 2 mos ago--how can it have corrupt preferences when I only just started using it???--used it once, then discovered diddn't have right processor in old computer...bought a new computer...took several weeks to get (bought increased ram)...now I am just using for first time today. Started importing, but they are all coming up missing photoi (when I had lightroomn installed on old computer, I deleted uit and pics), then reinstalled and it was migrated over to this new computer. I looked up how to massive transfer missing photos and there is NO folder with a question mark, so I have to do hundreds and hundreds manually--can I tell you I am really hating LR4.4?
