I have been reading up on Windows 8, because I ordered the laptop I have been talking about, and discovered a feature that was already in Windows 7, and which might be useful to some of the regulars here. 'The Snipping tool. URL....
We are forever uploading screen grabs of Photoshop panels etc. and this tool would save you having to grab the entire monitor with Alt Prt Scr, or entire workspace with Ctrl Prt Scr. Unfortunately any savings you'd get from not having to crop down to the panel you want, are negated by having to call it up from the Start button, unless you clipped its launch icon to the task bar. You can only highlight an area freehand, and I suspect most of us are too anal for such an inelegant method, and would prefer to stroke a selection in Photoshop.
Having trouble with the gradient tool in CS6 Using Windows 7. I select the gradient I want to use, but nothing shows up in the preview box. Doesn't matter what gradient I select. Tried applying the gradient anyway, and it does show up, but is very faint and hardly noticeable.
Installed and activated Photoshop CS5 on new PC running Windows 7. For some reason the Levels adjustment tool will not work. All other adjustment tools seem to be working as usual. How I can restore the Levels tool?
Started a trial with Photoshop V11 and I'm having troubles with slicing. Firstly the slice tool isn't in my toolbox, and secondly when I press K which I think is the correct shortcut key - my cursor changes to a circle with a line through it (banned).
It is happening on any PSD file that I'm opening.
If I try saving for Web and using the slice tool which is on that toolbar, I can create a box around something but as soon as I finish dragging with the mouse the square disappears. It is as if I really am banned from slicing -
I have a problem with PhotoShop CC. I also tested PhotoShop CS5 and PhotoShop CS6, having the same problems (last versions of them). Plugins for PhotoShop are not installed.
My System:
Windows 7 64 Bit with SP1 (newest updates german version) Intel Core i7-4770k CPU 3.5 Ghz RAM: 16 GB DDR3 GPU: GeForce GTX 760 2048 MB MSI N760 TF 2GD5/OC MainBoard: MSI Z87-G45 Gaming
Monitor: Asus PB248Q 1920 x 1200 60 Hz (connected with Display Port)
All Drivers (GPU, ChipSet of MainBoard) are up to date.
My Problem is that the Brush or rubber tool is 0,5 to 1 seconds slower than the mouse cursor. The stroke trails behind. But the brush tool still runs smooth and fluently. Its just slower than the mouse. When mouse stops moving, the brush catch up. The brush even trails behind when cursor is moving slow. When cursor is moving faster, sbrush also moves faster, but brush is never as fast as cursor. Only when cursor does not move, brush catch up.
This even happens when simple brushes for example simple round brush with 100 hardness and 10 pixel of size are used. When removing Smooting in brush settings, brush tool become much faster, but not as fast as cursor. This behaviour occurs in 64 and 32 Bit Version of PhotoShop. Also, GPU Settings was changed (Basic, Normal, Advanced), but without results.
When Aero-Surface in windows 7 is disabled, brush tool works much faster, but not smooth and fluently anymore. This also happens when I am working with a document containing only one single layer.I also tested all GPU Settings in PhotoShop (Basic, Normal and Advance), still the same problem.
PhotoShop uses 60% of my Ram (8793 MB)
The strange thing is: When I installed PHotoShop CS5 on my 8 years old computer with Windows XP, Brush tool with same settings was as fast as mouse cursor and it runs really smooth and fluently. The main difference is that my new Computer is using Windows 7, the old one uses Windows XP 32 Bit.
Old System:
Windows XP 32 Bit AMd Athlon X2 3700+ 2 GB RAM GeForce 7800 GTX (connected with DVI to monitor)
Can it be that PhotoShop has problems with Aero Surface of Windows 7? Or with Windows 7 64 Bit?
Am I the only one having trouble with the brush tool using a touchscreen running Windows 8? The touch feature doesn't work at all, and the mouse is intermittent, at best.
I've been able to in the past use the eyedropper tool to grab colors from browser windows and get the exact coded color if it's a css color. I'm using Photoshop cs5 on a mac with snow leopard. When I try to get any color from a browser window (both safari and firefox) photoshop will shift the color slightly.
I'm running PS CS4/mac on a Apple 30" display and have all my tool windows set up on the left side of the screen in three columns. When I open up a file, it is placed BEHIND my tools in the upper left hand corner so I have to keep moving it over to the right - is there a way when you open or create a new file that the window opens to the right of my tools?
I would like to request that a single key binding is provided for toggling on/off all four windows (tools, history, colours, layers) at once. In essence this would be a shortcut for simply pressing F5-F8. (The implementation is of course more complicated since at any time the windows could be in one of 16 different states, and how do you know if the user wants everything on or off?)
Perhaps F9 is suitable as it doesn't have any current binding and is a logical continuation of the F5-F8 series.
My rationale behind this request is that I frequently find myself closing all windows when working at high zoom levels and it 'breaks my flow' when I have to remember which F key I need to activate a particular window (my memory is not what it used to be).
I just got a new computer running Windows 8. It's a powerful machine (i7, 4 cores, 8 GB RAM, hybrid HD) and it's smoking fast on everything except Gimp's clone tool. The clone tool is so slow it's barely usable.
I am creating lots of tool presets. Considering I could want to format my computer, in which Windows folder are "tool presets" stored in order to make a backup of them? I am supposing that in a new GIMP installation I could copy the saved tool presets to the correct folder and all my presets will be load, without the need to recreate all toll presets again. I
I have a problem docking the windows. The tool options window somehow detached itself and I just can't figure out how to dock it again.
There are a couple of very light colored lines which are used for docking. I don't see any lines on the "Tool Options" window or any other window for that matter.
I'm always having to move my tool windows around, out of the way, or close them entirely when trying to see and work with my images.
Wouldn't it be great if we could simply minimize one or more of the tool windows to the bottom of the application screen? Then the tools remain INSIDE the current dimensions of the app, and can be restored to normal size with a keystroke or a click. Shouldn't be too hard to implement.
I know how to use the "I" intelligent scissors tool and paste into a window with a transparent background.
But I saw a NASA video where this very intricate tree with branches and no leaves was made into a PNG perfect. Then they had the stars moving behind it. They didn't use a scissors tool. There was too much detail.
I've always layout my floor plans three dimensional with the tools pallets commands such as walls, rails, door, windows & ect. I always have my walls pre-hatched with the solid pattern which is really effective to the floor plan. Normally when I put windows in the wall the window is clearly shown without the hatch in the wall but for some reason my wall's hatch started covering the windows and I can't seem to solve this problem.
Why can't Windows Explorer show thumbnail previews of DNG's on my Windows 8.1 64bit Pc. I assume is has something to do with not having the DNG codec. However, on Adobe's website it says their DNG codec only works on Windows 7.
This just started happening after I downloaded DWG TruViewer. I am working on LT 2008 using Fusionware on a MacPro. I needed the viewer to convert newer drawings from an architect. Now, when I double click on a drawing in Explorer a separate AutoCad window opens for each drawing I need open. I prefer to just go up to Window>and click on the one I need at that time, especially if I have several to switch between because it is easier to see the file name I want.
SDI is set to 0
Taskbar is set to 0
Relaunched the program
I can't open files using File>Open because the program crashed each time and Autodesk is not issuing anymore fixes for 2008. (Yes, we should upgrade but there is no money budgeted)
Right-click on any .dwg file and go to Properties>General>Change> and select the AutoCad LT launcher as the preferred program
Since I am in Window 7 instead of XP the File Types tab has been removed from Folder Options so I can't fix it that way.
So, why did this change? FYI that stupid TruViewer made lots of unnecessay changes to my AutoCad and Explorer programs that I am still trying to sort out like changing the file icon and hiding the file extensions. Are they trying to make it hard to find files or what?
And next, how can I reset the default so that double clicking on a .dwg in Explorer opens in already open AutoCad window?
AutoCAD LT 2011 has been installed in a Windows XP computer. When logging into this computer using the Windows Administrator Account, all AutoCAD LT 2011 features are available.
But when logging into this same computer using the Windows Limited / Restricted Account, all AutoCAD LT 2011 features are missing. How can we get all the AutoCAD LT 2011 features back using the Windows Limited / Restricted Account?
In ps7 editor I can have 2 pictures cascaded and using the marquee tool and the move tool insert a section of one picture into the other. I cannot do this in ps11, what am I doing wrong?
The brush tool loses the outline of the tool as the diameter gets larger. e.g. at 175px there is a fill outline of the tool. At 200px only a semi-circle is shown.
I only had Adobe Photoshop for about 2 months now. I have been using the Low Key tool in guided alot. Here recently I went to edit a photo and my reduce effect button tool will not work. I tried everything from restarting my computer and the program. I love using this tool but I can not get the reduce effect to work.
So everything is fine until I use the select tool, and then free transform a part of the image. Then my brush and eraser stop working until I save and restart the program.
I am experiencing two problems. One is the tool icons in Photoshop are disappearing on the screen. I move the cursor and see nothing on my screen.
The second problem is at other times the proper tool icon and function is not showing up and working. I select for example the pen tool and the hand tool icon show up and the function works as the hand tool not the pen tool?
