levels layer...........taking the contrast way up
saturation layer....saturation up
invert function
find edges layer
duplicate layer
background layer

At the point that I convert to jpg or another file type I lose the levels adjustment. Also flatten image or merge visible layers causes the same problem. I can supply a file if needed.
I have a levels adjustment layer and I want the opposite of this, so I want to invert it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI entered the following key sequence: Adjustments Panel | Levels | Alt-Click Auto | Find Dark & Light Colors | Snap Neutral Midtones | Midtones After keying in this sequence and making adjustments to my photo, I inadvertently hit one too many OKs as I was exiting and PS changed my defaults. They now read: H: 55, S:0, B: 0, R: 128, G: 128 and B: 128. How can I reset these values to their default settings?

I have noticed sometimes that when using a Levels adjustment layer, the drop-down to choose the different channels (red, green, blue) is grayed out, and I cannot click on it to choose the different colors. The numbers in the input & output boxes are also grayed out and I cannot type in them. The only time I have noticed this happening is directly after cropping an image. And then when I go to work on a different image and add an levels adjustment layer to it, those things are still grayed out. I have to restart the program to get it to work properly again. If I add a Curves layer, nothing is grayed out, everything works fine; it's just Levels.
I cannot get a color balance adjustment layer to come up. Every time I do photoshop creates a levels layer. Selecting levels makes a levels layer. All of the other adjustment layers seem to be working normally.
How do I fix this? I have a deadline and no time to be reinstalling photoshop.
When I pull up the levels windows both are black. If I reduce the image in the windows, I get a small black square. I have used this feature on various versions for years.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI found out that there is a way to show clipping areas in Photoshop when adjusting levels via an adjustment layer. While moving the slider, you hold down the ALT key.
I tried this in PSP X3 and it does not work. Any feature for seeing the clipping preview is available in Paint Shop Pro? It's a nice feature.
this has been only happening since updating this morning from 13.0.1 - 13.0.2...I have a problem where if I create a new curve layer and then press the preview button on/off it fails to re render the preview and nothing else happens until I OK it. I also notice that it creates history entries on the history panel like I'm making adjustments? Weird!
Â
There's been a few other noticeable things too. The liquify window now doesn't draw as nice and smoothly as it did with 13.0.1. The cursor jitters a lot and control isn't as smooth.
I have a client, who use Lightroom. After software update, all his pre-defined custom brush settings are disappeared. It is possible to reload the old settings from somewhere?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter running 4.3 update, my local adjsutment brushes are no longer recognized and appearing in the Lightroom GUI. They are all still located under 'Lightroom' folder --> 'Local Adjustment Brushes' folder (nothing has changed and I see all files are still there in Finder), but no matter how many times I've restarted LR, they are not showing up in the GUI.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am using the threshold tool to create a stencil. I first used the Quick Selection tool to cut out the objects I wanted and then tried to use the Threshold tool to create a black and White Only image.

However, for some reason, especially on the edges of the objects, the threshold tool left some grey marks, instead of black and white.
I tried using the threshold tool again, but not all of the grey marks were removed
What's the difference between the Threshold slider in the USM filter and the Reduce Noise slider in the new Smart Sharpen filter?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI want to use the Threshold Alpha command on a Layer of Solid Noise, but nothing happens. If I set the threshold to 255 everything goes transparent, anything below that the clouds are supremely unimpressed. It's an RGB image, has an alpha channel, no Alpha channel lock, the Threshold tool works fine. I also tried creating another test picture with several gradient in greys and colors, and they are equally unaffected by Threshold Alpha.
I'm using GIMP 2.6.11 on WinXP SP3.
After processing my NEF files in Adobe PE's Camera RAW 6.5, my NEF files were replaced with XMP files. I checked the Recycle Bin and they are not there. I did nothing different from the past, using Open Image to move the file into the Editing module of PE.Â
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been using photoshop (CS2) on windows XP for quite a while just started getting a strange problem with one font - Adobe Caslon Pro.
When the type is used I get a strange dingbat type font appearing in it's place. (The preview in the selection drop down is as it should be. This only happens in photoshop. All is ok in Illustrator & InDesign, also ok in Word.
I did put some new fonts into the main window font folder a few weeks back from the CS2 CD (goodies). As an attempt at a solution I deleted A.Caslon.Pro font from the windows font folder after first putting it in windows/user/applications/adobe/font folder.
i tried restarting gimp but it did not fix my problem. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, my fuzzy select tool selects WAY too much even at a threshold of 1. at 2 it just selects the whole picture.Re-installing did not fix.
i am creating black/white based icons. So it is a 48x48 image. i am mainly trying to fuzzy select black, white, and transparent selections. As you can guess, it has become impossible now and i don't know what i did.
EDIT: Okay so it actually isn't selecting "too much" per-say. i willt ry and explain the best i can here:
Black and white image with the exception of some shades inbetween.Select fuzzy select and put threshhold at 1. Click. Selects all the white (i actually think it misses some). i hit SHIFT and click on a pixel that is slightly not white. VERY SLIGHTLY. In fact, it may actually be white. It fuzzy selects EVERYTHING.
Another example on an image that is Black and Transparent (with shades inbetween) Slect black on threshold 1. It selects All the black AND all the shades inbetween. Eveything except flat out transparent. i hit CTRL and select a shad einbetween and it deselects everything.
EDIT 2: Doesnt matter the threshold apparently. It will do this on any.
EDIT 3: The solution, after all, was so save these problematic images as JPG and then open them as the JPG.
I would like to obtain a black and white image of a photograph of a book page.
My attempt to do this is by running the threshold function over theentire image. This appears to give the desired result, but onlylocally. It appears that the optimum parameters of the thresholdfunction vary by position (i.e., according to some scalar field), withone extreme in the center of the glare and then radiating outward. Sojust running the threshold function over the entire image withconstant parameters always gives sub-optimum contrast for 75% of theimage. Will I have to find a way to run the threshold function withnon-constant parameters, or is there some other tool to do the job?
I scanned some images to Tiff format and when I bring them into Gimp I can't seem to get the threshold effect to work. The other color effects work but not threshhold. I check with other Tiff images I have and they work but not for this new set (done on a different scanner).

ive had it installed for about 6 months with no problems. came into work a couple of days ago, and my grayscale has been replaced with a purplescale?
if i create a new document, wether its rgb, cmyk, or grayscale, the shades that should be gray are now purple. no color profiles or color settings have been changed, and i checked with a co workers settings and they are the same, anyone know what is going on with this?
also i know its not my system, cause i just opened illustrator, and that grayscale is fine.
i have supplied a screenshot of the purps:
I'm using PS CS3,
I have to take old black and white photos and replace the old faces with those of living people. The photos were scanned out of various photo books, and some of them were quite old. I used de-screening when I scanned them in, but there is still a 'texture' to the original photo and it doesn't look right when I put a nice, clear face off a digital camera shot to replace the original face.
I can buy a DVD tutorial from PixelPops to show me how this is done, but is there a simple way to do this so I don't have to spend the money? Yes, I can do a google search, but I don't even know what term to use for this particular process. I thought it might involve the healing or cloning tools,
what plugin has replaced the legacy filter extract?
