Photoshop :: Why CS6 Not Recognizing Newly Installed Video Card
May 29, 2013I just installed a new XFX AMD ONE 1GB 5450 video card and have updated the drivers, but Photoshop CS6 is not recognizing it.

View 2 RepliesA month ago I successfully installed 3 ICC profiles from a paper manufacturer and got them recognised by PSP X5. I now have 4 more profiles and have installed them but they are not recognised completely by PSP. If I open the Color Management box and click Basic Color Management, with Rending Intent 'Pictures', the printer profiles list in the dropdown shows only the three original profiles (plus a lot supplied by Canon for the MG650 printer concerned). If I select Proofing, the Emulated device profile dropdown list shows all 7 profiles (plus the Canon ones), so PSP is clearly to some extent aware of the new profiles.
I cannot remember exactly how I achieved the inclusion of my original three in the list, but I do have the printer concerned as the default primary printer, so cannot see that this is a problem. The profiles are recognised in the other software that I use, so they are definitely correctly installed.
I just installed the adobe cs6 creative suite yesterday or the day before, but today was the first time I tried to launch PS. Each successive time that I've tried, I have gotten these two messages immediately after the program finishes loading:
I can't go to the preferences panel to attempt to fix the problem addressed in the first dialogue because PS will not stay open long enough to allow me to do so. I also googled the issue and the majority of people seemed to say that holding down ctrl+alt+shift as the program loaded would present me with a dialogue that would fix the problem, but when I tried it nothing happened.
I've installed some new fonts into my windows vista. The fonts were successfully installed and a check in Office reflected the new fonts. when i opened CS4, these fonts were not found in the list of characters.

And, same if I try a jpg or a tiff file..only there, PSE 11 does not even come up a s an option to open with. In all cases error reads...NOT VALID WIN32 application.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm using a new install of Photoshop CS6 (via creative cloud) on a new iMac and getting superb performance aside from constant issues with the polygonal lasso tool.
All the other variants of the tool work fine without fault, but when using the polygonal selection , either the first 'point' won't register or subsequent 2nd or 3rd points won't register, causing photoshop to hang for a second then fill the marquee incorrectly.
I'm using a magic mouse and also tested it with a USB Logitech but still getting the same issue.

I had trouble installing the program on Windows 7 after aborting on the first try when an error message about a font issue appeared and I wanted to find out more info. It took four retries, rebooting and adjusting my security settings I have it installed as a trial version (I think), but when I try to launch the program it goes through the initiallization process each time and then shuts down just as it is launching. Do I uninstall and start again from scratch? I have experience in installing 2000LT and 2004LT on various computers over the years with out ever having an installation issue.Â
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with Illustrator CS6 on Win7 x86 on one of our users' machines. The font Arial Narrow is installed, MS Word / Framemaker pick it up and you can use it, but Illustrator and InDesign won't see the font. So my user can't use Arial Narrow as the family so can't select the font for bold/italics/underline. He can only choose narrow as a sub style of the Arial family, but Arial Narrow has been installed seperately.
Â
The font has also been placed in the Common subfolder for adobe softwares, but after that it still won't be found. What has been tried:
Â
Uninstall and Reinstall the fontAdd font to font folders for adobe products (both common and product specific)Clearing Windows and Adobe font caches ..All these steps have not solved our problem.

I needed a specific Adobe font engraved on a nameplate.
I purchased and installed the font and it is available to me in other applications.
I went to use it within my sketch and it didn't display as being available.
Do I need to do something other than install the font on my machine to use it within my model?

View 5 Replies View RelatedCurrently my display card is a NVIDIA Quadro FX 500/600 PCI. One of the reasons I chose this card is it supprted dual montors. Now that I have upgraded to CS4 Extended I need to upgrade my display card.
When I went to Adobe's List of tested graphics display cards for Photoshop CS4 and seen such a long list of cards for Windows.I thought I would come here and ask if any body else has upgraded theirs. I would perfere to go with a nVidia card. Do any of these cards support dual monitors? Or how can I keep using my two montors?
I have a Dell Dimension 4600i with the stock Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller, and 4 gig of ram. I use Photoshop CS3 for my digital scrapbook business, working with image files that are often almost a gig. Besides tweeking PS and XP to get the fastest performance I'm thinking I probably need a beefier video card. I've read decent reviews for the GeForce 7600GT and other video cards but these are aimed at gamers. The sales rep at Dell seemed to think that their top video card wouldn't be that much better for Photoshop work.
Are there video cards out there that would speed up PS? Is it a waste of money getting a card designed for gamers?
I'm having a laptop built mainly to quick edit/cut photoshop files. They (pc club)recommend a nvidia 8600gt 512 card. Will this work well for photoshop editing. I still use my desktop for the main photoshop work.
The system I'm looking at is:
Window XP home, nvidia 8600gt go 512mb graphics, intel core 2 duo 2.4ghz, 2gb ram, 200gb sata 7200rpm drive, 802.11n wifi, and 10/100/1000 network card.
I'm a landscape photographer and have used photoshop for several years...my current version is cs1....my system crashed and now in the process of having a new system built.....I will upgrade to cs4...now this is my question what video card do I need?

I also noticed little quirks like when masking, I could mask but it won't allow me to add back. I have to close out of PS6 and reopen...I'm assuming this is also a video card issue.

I have problem with rn Adobe Photoshop CS6 Exteneded in virtual environment. I have VDI on Remote Desktop Services. There is RemoteFX 3D video card on virtual mchines, but Photoshop doesn't recognize this card. How can I enable GPU features in Photoshop with this configuration?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have just unstakked CS4, but my video cardNividia 7300 GT ONLY HAS 250 mb OF MEMORY. There are some functions of GL functions (3D) that cannot be used. Also, occasionally Photoshop shuts off the enhanced GPU functions and most important, even when it is in use there is NOT the smooth zooming from increasing or decreasing the size of the image.
I realize I should be using 512 MB on a video card. Adobe has a listing of cards that work with this new function but their prices anfd functions vary greatly. I will NOT be using 3D functions for graphics and use the computer for gaming. This is mainly for the new advanced functions in Photoshop.
I know I need 512 MB and open GL 2.0, but not the most advanced and expensive card. Any choices between nividia or ATI for CS4
I switched to CS4. Frequent apparent redraws leave remnants on screen, panels move back and forth, etc.
I have a Dell Precision 490 with 4gb ram and a nVidia Quadra fx 550 with 128 megs of ram. Open GL is enabled. I have loaded all the latest nVidia drivers.
If this sounds like a video card problem, can anyone recommend a good, not too expensive card? I don't play any games, just use the machine for PS. ID and Flash mostly.
I am preparing to replace my current video card (nVidia GT7600) with one more compatible with CS4 (Vista- single display). Is there a recommended list from Adobe (or from this forum) that is suitable and essentially trouble free. My use is primarily photographic enhancement so a high end 3D card is not necessary.

Anyway to fix this other than turning off OpenGL?
If I need to get a new video card to make this work, which is the most
stable card having the fewest bugs? I'd really like to get this to work.
Just looking for some opinions out there, I despretly (can't spell desperately to save my life) video card and monitor. Right now I just have the cheap stuff that comes in our standard PC build.
So I am looking for some hot combos of what is good in cards and monitors. The stuff I have now doesn't even come close to representing what actually prints, really bloody annoying.
When I first started using PSCS4, I was using a nVidia gs7800 card and with it open GL was flaky so I changed to an nVidia GeForece 9500 GT w/512 RAM )claiming open GL 3.0) and then open GL was stable. With the upgrade to 11.01 and the latest nVidia drivers for my card, PSCS4 now says I have no open GL it can use and I should either change my video card and/or update its software. What gives and, more important, how can I get get PS to use the open GL I have?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for manufacturer and model number suggestions so that I may use the Full Feature Set of OpenGL 2.0 in PS CS4. My current card is an ATI Radeon 9200 Series with 128 MB and uses the AGP 8X bus.
I am looking for video cards using the AGP 8X bus, since I am not able to upgrade either motherboard or processor at this time. Brand name and model numbers would be most helpful. PCI-e bus cards will be helpful when I get time and resources to upgrade.
I'm using Photoshop Elements 10 Organizer with Premiere Elements10 Installed. I have a number of files of type MTS which I understand to be AVCHD and are imported from my Panasonic Lumix TZ20 camera which captures HD video. These files will not play in the Organizer, resulting in a message stating the required Codec is missing. However, when the same file is sent to Premiere Elements for Editingand agreeing to a message to have Premiere set the correct properties for the media type it plays perfectly. What am I do wrong? Are there any settings I need to change to have Organizer also play the file successfully?
