Photoshop :: Video Card Recommendations For CS4
Dec 10, 2008
I switched to CS4. Frequent apparent redraws leave remnants on screen, panels move back and forth, etc.
I have a Dell Precision 490 with 4gb ram and a nVidia Quadra fx 550 with 128 megs of ram. Open GL is enabled. I have loaded all the latest nVidia drivers.
If this sounds like a video card problem, can anyone recommend a good, not too expensive card? I don't play any games, just use the machine for PS. ID and Flash mostly.

Currently my display card is a NVIDIA Quadro FX 500/600 PCI. One of the reasons I chose this card is it supprted dual montors. Now that I have upgraded to CS4 Extended I need to upgrade my display card.
When I went to Adobe's List of tested graphics display cards for Photoshop CS4 and seen such a long list of cards for Windows.I thought I would come here and ask if any body else has upgraded theirs. I would perfere to go with a nVidia card. Do any of these cards support dual monitors? Or how can I keep using my two montors?

I have a Dell Dimension 4600i with the stock Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller, and 4 gig of ram. I use Photoshop CS3 for my digital scrapbook business, working with image files that are often almost a gig. Besides tweeking PS and XP to get the fastest performance I'm thinking I probably need a beefier video card. I've read decent reviews for the GeForce 7600GT and other video cards but these are aimed at gamers. The sales rep at Dell seemed to think that their top video card wouldn't be that much better for Photoshop work.
Are there video cards out there that would speed up PS? Is it a waste of money getting a card designed for gamers?

I upgraded to CS6 and I've been told that my current video card will not support the 3D feature. I also noticed considerable lag with modifying text and using brushes. I also noticed little quirks like when masking, I could mask but it won't allow me to add back. I have to close out of PS6 and reopen...I'm assuming this is also a video card issue.
what video card I should buy for my mac. I'm on OSX 10.6.8 and these are my current video card specs:

I have just unstakked CS4, but my video cardNividia 7300 GT ONLY HAS 250 mb OF MEMORY. There are some functions of GL functions (3D) that cannot be used. Also, occasionally Photoshop shuts off the enhanced GPU functions and most important, even when it is in use there is NOT the smooth zooming from increasing or decreasing the size of the image.
I realize I should be using 512 MB on a video card. Adobe has a listing of cards that work with this new function but their prices anfd functions vary greatly. I will NOT be using 3D functions for graphics and use the computer for gaming. This is mainly for the new advanced functions in Photoshop.
I know I need 512 MB and open GL 2.0, but not the most advanced and expensive card. Any choices between nividia or ATI for CS4

I am preparing to replace my current video card (nVidia GT7600) with one more compatible with CS4 (Vista- single display). Is there a recommended list from Adobe (or from this forum) that is suitable and essentially trouble free. My use is primarily photographic enhancement so a high end 3D card is not necessary.

I have updated my ATI FireGL V3100 with the latest ATI drivers (Windows XP
sp3 with 4GB RAM).
However, when I enable GNU in CS4 all of the images are garbled.
Anyway to fix this other than turning off OpenGL?
If I need to get a new video card to make this work, which is the most
stable card having the fewest bugs? I'd really like to get this to work.

Just looking for some opinions out there, I despretly (can't spell desperately to save my life) video card and monitor. Right now I just have the cheap stuff that comes in our standard PC build.
So I am looking for some hot combos of what is good in cards and monitors. The stuff I have now doesn't even come close to representing what actually prints, really bloody annoying.

When I first started using PSCS4, I was using a nVidia gs7800 card and with it open GL was flaky so I changed to an nVidia GeForece 9500 GT w/512 RAM )claiming open GL 3.0) and then open GL was stable. With the upgrade to 11.01 and the latest nVidia drivers for my card, PSCS4 now says I have no open GL it can use and I should either change my video card and/or update its software. What gives and, more important, how can I get get PS to use the open GL I have?

I'm looking for manufacturer and model number suggestions so that I may use the Full Feature Set of OpenGL 2.0 in PS CS4. My current card is an ATI Radeon 9200 Series with 128 MB and uses the AGP 8X bus.
I am looking for video cards using the AGP 8X bus, since I am not able to upgrade either motherboard or processor at this time. Brand name and model numbers would be most helpful. PCI-e bus cards will be helpful when I get time and resources to upgrade.

I have been using PE10, but have just installed Photoshop CC v. 13.1.2 x64. Although my video card (nvidia GTX 670, 2 gb RAM) is recognized by Photoshop, when I check "use graphics processor" under "preferences/performance" the converted RAW image is somewhat blurred at all zoom levels (except 100%) compared to when it is unchecked and sharp (for both Canon 1100D and 6D). The
problem may possibly reside in the RAW conversion, because if I convert the file with "use graphics processor" unchecked, and then subsequently check it after it has been opened, the image is not blurry and I have access to all of the video card supported function/ artmar4 (intel i5-3670, 24 gb RAM, Windows 7, 64 bit).

The ATI 5770 (runs the 24") is on the 16 lane PCI slot and the older Nvidea 8800 GT (running two Dell 19") is on the 8 lane slot.
But photoshop chooses the slower card on the slower lane.

I have a Canon SX30IS. When I use PSE9 to download from memory card, if there are any videos present on the card, the Photo Downloader crashes.
I believe that it is something to do with Apple Quicktime. When I uninstall Quicktime , PSE downloader does not crash while importing media form this camera, but cannot play video clips. On reinstalling Quicktime , the PSE downloader crashes while searching the memory card for media.
I have not upgraded PSE twice now because of this crash. What makes it worse is that Apple Quicktime is a very poor media player, managing about 2FPS on the video clips from this camera when both the Canon and the VLC video codecs can manage 30FPS.
I would much prefer if I could choose to use a video renderer, like using any available Windows codecs rather than insisting on using annoying Apple software.

I have some extra $$ to spend and I want to get a new laptop and upgrade my current computer. I was wondering what's the best OS/hardware for Photoshop CS4 for Windows. I could see spending up to $2000 for the laptop, so that should get a very good one. I do want to get an 18 inch screen. This laptop is mainly for use around my house, so I won't be carrying it around much.
For upgrading my desktop, I want to keep my NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT cards as I have a 3 monitor setup that I like. I also want to keep the motherboard. I currently have an Intel E2180 processor @ 2.00 GHz, that's a socket 775 processor. I have 4 Gb of RAM. And I have XP Pro installed. I cannot get 64 bit Vista because I need to use a 32 bit VPN program to connect to work.

I'm updating drivers for Computers with Nividia Quadro 4000 video cards. I went to the Nvidia website and found two drivers. one I found that was certified for AUTOCAD 2013 and the version is 310.50. And another driver for the video card version is 311.50. should i download the newest version or the ACAD Certified version? Could the "Certified" version download not be current? Are there any drawbacks from one to the other?

My print shop will only accept TIFF, JPEG or PhotoShop formats. They will *NOT* accept PDF or HTML. Unfortunately, I need to print several hundred images with captions, page numbers, and headings (each page has unique text).
So I need a program that will layout a page with images (JPEG, TIFF, or PhotoShop) and text (captions, page numbers, headers); then output this page in TIFF, JPEG or PhotoShop formats. I need it to run in batch mode on several hundred images because I don't want to edit each page manually.
If I could find an "HTML to TIFF/JPEG/PhotoShop converter" that would run in batch mode, or had a command line interface, I'd be very happy.
Then I could write a simple PERL script that would automatically create the HTML pages and run the converter on them. Life would be easy.
Unfortunately, the converters I've found limit the resolution to 72dpi (too low), or won't run in batch or command line mode.
So I'd appreciate any recommendations for a program that will automatically generate TIFF/JPEG/PhotoShop pages with images and text, or recommendations for an HTML converter. Either will do.

I have an Nvidia Quadro FX1500 graphics card on XP64. Getting the correct video driver for ACA is critical as we all know. I did a search of the Adesk web site and one page told me to use version 259.57, while another page told me to use version 265.70.
The page telling me to use the newer driver was under the certified hardware page, where ACA is not a choice in the product used, only acad. The page telling me to use the older version was under the ACA support page. Then I go to the Nvidia web site and they tell me to use the 191.00 version.I'vehad a look nside the hardware XML installed with 2012 and te supported driver version is 6.14.0012.6570.
