please help me, when i go to save my image as a targa file it doesnt allow me too tick the alpha channel box, i need to save it as a targa file aswell, how can i sort this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI went to save a file with Alpha channel, RGB, 32-bit as a .tga but the file format wasn't there under the save as options. I've done it before and don't understand why it's not working now. I've tried everything - even ran install again. Didn't UN-install first - should I? I've even opened previous .tga files and tried to do a "save as" so I can change the name, but .tga not available. Even had the tga file open, then just hit save and it came up with a "save as and only gave about 4 options. This is an install on a laptop with a partioned drive running Vista 64. The adobe programs are installed on the c: drive in the Program files (x86) folder. Only thing new in my system is the addition of a second monitor and a cordless bluetooth mouse. Also, the text engine is goofed up - can't work because the text tool engine can't initiate.

Then, after saving, when I select 'get info' for the file it says there is no alpha channel. I'm stumped I can't seem to create an alpha channel from within Photoshop while I'm editing.

However, if I saved to Multi-picture Format, I would get the familiar .jpg and everything worked fine for a while. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a PSD file I have been working on in CS3. This was created from a .nef raw file and saved in 16 bits/channel.
When I go to save the image as a jpeg and convert back to 8 bits/channel Image => Mode => 16 bits/channel is selected and greyed out, along with the 8 bits/channel option. So at the moment I am unable to save the image the image as a jpeg.
I am using a licensed version of Photoshop CS5, already updated to the latest patch. However, for some reason my copy of Photoshop seems to be missing the option to save a file as .tga.

From reading multiple forum posts relating to Photoshop, the function to save as .tga should already be built in, and not require a plugin.
There may also be some other missing file formats that I am not aware of.
I found this error a bit strange, my colleague it trying to save a file and this error keeps on coming out (see attachments). When we try to save it, it only saves as a temp file. When we try to open up the temp file and try to save it, it still doesn't allow us to do. Also, when we cancel the save, the original file will be gone and he will lost all of his data. Below are the specs of the computer and version of the AutoCAD.
Computer: DELL Precision T5500
OS: Windows 7 Ult
AutoCAD Version: 2011
Also, we're using ProSteel Series 3 as well. We tried saving the file using ProSteel and just AutoCAD but it didn't do the trick. I've tried some options (listed below) that might get it to work but still no luck.
1. Restart the computer.
2. Repair / Reinstall AutoCAD.
3. Give permission to the folder (read from the forum).
I am using Photoshop CS6. I am unable to save a 8bit tiff or psd file as a jpeg. When I choose JPEG format .iff is attached to the file. When I open the same file in CS5 it works correctly. Whichever format I attempt to save as it selects the suffix for the format above.  I have downloaded again but no change.Â
View 3 Replies View RelatedSuddenly I can't save my PSD files as JPEG file without CS6 wanting to turn them into tiff files. Keeps prompting me to to choose from a drop down menu as Maya or Amiga files.
I've checked to be sure my file is set for 8 bits and srgb. Not working with video files of any sort. In fact, I've tried saving past PSD files as JPEG and it's giving me the same iff prompt.
Have an easy file open and am trying to save a copy with a new name and Inventor either does nothing or crashes. Original full path and file name contains 243 characters (counting from drive letter to extension) New one will have 247 characters.
This is supposedly within the path/file name character limits for windows 7, which according to the ms website is 260 minus one for the null character at the end making it 259. So I am over 10 characters shy of the limit dictated by the OS.
Is inventor placing a stricter limit on the number of characters in the full path/file name? If so, why?
Obviously, working up the tree and adjusting upper level folder names is not an option as that would break every link in every assembly at that level or lower.Â

"Because of the limitations of the specified file (and possibly the save options you've selected) the saved file will be limited to a merged image. Would you like to continue?"
 It only happens with this one file so far.  It is a STEP file.  I open it in Inventor and then when I hit save it gives me an error. The system cannot find the path specified.

I have tried to save it on two different computers with two different projects and I get the same error. I have never ran into this problem before and I open and save STEP files often.

View 6 Replies View Relatedwork in broadcast and a new piece of gear prefers png files. I know how to save png's with a transparency, that's not the problem. What I don't know how to do or if it's possible is to save them with a straight or fat alpha. Right now we feather or extend the edges out past the alpha of say a logo and save it as a tif, psd or .tga. That way once it's keyed over video or whatever, the edges look good, no black bad edging.. But switching to png files, how to make a straight or fat alpha since it sees transparency. I mean if I feathered out the edges, a png will see that correct, since there's no alpha?

When you de-select RGB channel and only leave the Alpha channel selected you'll notice that the image has now turned into a black and white alpha image, where black shows complete transparency, and white shows no transparency. Is it possible to save this black and white alpha image? Incase you dont understand what im trying to do heres a picture.
I just took that pic off the net as an example of what i want (incase your wondering), so basically, all i want to know is, how do you save an image (like above) which shows the levels of transparency.

In CS3 this works fine.
how I can get it to work in CS4? The target program can only read BMP-files, so my workflow depends on it.
Using X5 suite. Just installed Windows 7 on my stand alone system. Now when I make a change to a file and attempt to resave (Save) it, the message box says the file is "Read Only" and asks me to save under another name.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI started using gimp yesterday to remove backgrounds out of images for my website so have done it fine.
But now I clicked on something which reduced the toolbox dialog box to not be as large - ie it does not show you pixels size etc if you select pencil tool now.
Also I open an image and lasso it - then click the quick mask but the pencil tool is not adding any more to the area - it wont draw over or anything. The lock alpha button is on in the layers panel and I cant unlock it.
I'm trying to create a digital layout in PSCS version 8.0, and when I go to save the psd file (very early stages of the creation...its not very large yet) I get an error that says "Unable to save (file name) because of a disc error". I've never seen this before and am trying not to panic, but I'm on a deadline! LOL And am running behind as usual!
I am using an older mac, and I'm pretty dang maxed out on Gb...gotta clean up some files, but having a hard time finding a free dup file finder for macs...so I'm procrastinating, basically. Could the fact that I've got very little Gb available left have something to do with this?
I have images to print up poster size,does it make a difference if I hand the copyshop/printer a very large jpg as opposed to the same image as a tiff or tga?
(especially considering I have vector text that needs to stay crisp)
I'm having a problem with .tga files. They don't seem to be supporting transparency under any saving conditions unlike in Photoshop 7. I think this also affected Autodesk Maya before because i applied a .tga texture i thought had transparency in, and the material turned everything tranparent. Is there a way to get the format to keep the transparency like it used to?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got a short animation that I'd like to export, mainly because it's faster to use the tween function than manually adjusting my picture and saving every frame manually. Anyway, it doesn't look like Photoshop allows you to save animations in the Targa format and keep the alpha layer that I need in each individual frame. How I might go about either exporting the animation and keeping the alpha layer, or finding some way to work around this without having to manually copy the alpha layer to each individual frame by hand after I export it?

For example I have a series of folders containing thousands of images:
These files are filename.dds files (I already have the .dds plugin to read them but you could use .png for example).
I load the image, goto Colours - > Components - > Decompose :
In the dialogue I enter color model : Alpha, tick decompose to layers - > OK
I then export the file as filename_a.jpg
Is there a way to batch this process for the 1000's of images I have?
