Photoshop :: How Can Targa File Be Saved With Transparent Background In Cs6
Nov 9, 2012I am trying to save a targa file with a transparent background.
View 3 RepliesI am trying to save a targa file with a transparent background.
View 3 RepliesI went to save a file with Alpha channel, RGB, 32-bit as a .tga but the file format wasn't there under the save as options. I've done it before and don't understand why it's not working now. I've tried everything - even ran install again. Didn't UN-install first - should I? I've even opened previous .tga files and tried to do a "save as" so I can change the name, but .tga not available. Even had the tga file open, then just hit save and it came up with a "save as and only gave about 4 options. This is an install on a laptop with a partioned drive running Vista 64. The adobe programs are installed on the c: drive in the Program files (x86) folder. Only thing new in my system is the addition of a second monitor and a cordless bluetooth mouse. Also, the text engine is goofed up - can't work because the text tool engine can't initiate.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've started a drawing in an empty file with one layer (I have deleted the initial Background layer, then created a New Layer which contains the drawing). How do I save this as tga but with transparent background? ie. so that if I put the saved .tga file over another image, only the drawing shows, without the background around it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI created a black and white logo in Illustrator (vector).
I flattened it and saved it as a PS file.
I took it into FW and used Export Wizard. I checked transparency (index); made it an PNG 8.
When I see the file in the Finder it shows as transparent.
When I import the file into AI or ID it comes in with an opaque white background.
(I'm working in CS4) and created a corporate logo for one of my clients. When I place the logo into Photoshop or InDesign, the logo is in a white box. How can I make the background transparent in the original Illustrator file?

I am looking for a solution to publish or plot a dwg file to PDF or DWF with a transparent Background. This would remove the white paper background from the file and allow anything under the file to show through if overlaid such as a raster image.

I have a BMP image that is part of a larger logo that I need to be cut out on my inline cutter. The problem is, when I convert the whole logo to the plotter file, the BMP image does not show up. I have tried using the outline trace to convert the BMP to a form my plotter will recognize, but when I save the file, it saves it with a white background that shows up in my plotter image. This white background messes up the whole logo.
Is there any way to save the file where the image has a transparent background? I have been saving it as a .cmx file and there is no option to save it as a transparent background.
I have a .png file that I want to place in a template. This png file is text with a transparent background. When I place this in my template, the background is shown in white. The sheet color the idw is beige, so this doesn't look very good.
Also, when I save a copy of the idw as .dwg, the white background is shown there as well. when it prints, it is ok. If there was a way to have it stay transparent in both?
I need to strip my current image of its background color so that the background color on my website goes thru my image. In other words I need a transparent background for my image.
I have create a new layer that is transparent, but the background color on my website does not go thru it. The background color of this image appears to be grayish not transparent.
When a raw file badge shows that the file has been changed, I use Metadata Save to File & for the large majority of my images, the badge goes away and Metadata Status Changed does not show the file. For some of my files, however, the Save to File command doesn't work properly. If I am only displaying files with changes, the file briefly disappears, then returns. Even if I go to Windows Explorer and delete the xmp file, then again Save metadata to file, it pops up again with the badge saying it needs to be saved. I'm using Lightroom 4.3 64 bit on Windows 7.

When I create a new transparent image the image goes straight to layer 1 instead of background. When I save or flatten the image it has a white background instead of a transparent like it should.
I have some text documents in PDF format and would like to edit it in photoshop CS5, but each time I open them up in photoshop, the background seems to be transparent (tiny grey and white tiles), which is very eye tiring when editing/annotating with a wacom pen, how to fill the background total white?
View 2 Replies View RelatedRun this simple test:
1. Open new gimp project. The background will be either the current foreground or background color. The point is it's ONE solid color.
2. Layer->Transparency->Add Alpha Channel
3. Edit->Clear The color is gone and it's a transparent layer. This is what I want to save.
4. File -> Save As (version 2.6)
5. Type in test.jpg
6. Open up test.jpg and you will see the transparent layer from step 3 has magically gone to white.
How do I prevent step 6 from happening?
And yes, same result on 2.8 (Windows)
I have images to print up poster size, does it make a difference if I hand the copyshop/printer a very large jpg as opposed to the same image as a tiff or tga?
(especially considering I have vector text that needs to stay crisp)
I'm having a problem with .tga files. They don't seem to be supporting transparency under any saving conditions unlike in Photoshop 7. I think this also affected Autodesk Maya before because i applied a .tga texture i thought had transparency in, and the material turned everything tranparent. Is there a way to get the format to keep the transparency like it used to?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was asked to cut out the background from a logo to make it transparent so the logo would look nice on a variety of backgrounds. I've been given a good quality jpeg file.
What I did was I selected (by colour) the background (white), inverted the selection, copied it and pasted as a new image.
It's all fine (the logo itself doesn't have any other elements) but there's still some whiteish/greyish outline around certain elements of the logo.
If I were to do it manually, it'd probably take ages. What would be the best way to accomplish it?
I've got a short animation that I'd like to export, mainly because it's faster to use the tween function than manually adjusting my picture and saving every frame manually. Anyway, it doesn't look like Photoshop allows you to save animations in the Targa format and keep the alpha layer that I need in each individual frame. How I might go about either exporting the animation and keeping the alpha layer, or finding some way to work around this without having to manually copy the alpha layer to each individual frame by hand after I export it?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a file with 2 layers, one (Layerone) that is blank, i.e. no fill or anything. The other layer (Layertwo) has text. I save the file as a .gif, select transparent, select matte as none, and keep getting a white background when I upload the file to my website.
I also tried copying the text Layer to the clipboard, creating a a new file with the background set as 'transparent', then pasting the text only layer into the new file. I still get the white background when I upload to website.
It can't be this hard to get a transparent background. What am I doing wrong?

My graphic designer designed the attached file. He claimed that it's impossible to turn the background of this image to a transparent one. I'm no expert, but I do think it's possible to turn the gray background into a transparent one.
