Photoshop :: Transparency With Printing From INDD To PDF
Jun 22, 2012
I'm making a quick business card for one of my friends. I'm having issues with a PSD file that has a transparency being placed over an EPS file with a pantone object that i've both imported into an indesign layout. When I got to print a PDF in high quality the PSD image is totally screwed up, and it has something to do with the pantone EPS object. Whenever I remove and rasterize it to bitmap the problem goes away.
take a look:

When printing a vector illustration in PDF format, my gradients that fade to 0% over a surface aren't coming out right. The gradient appears like a box with a hard edge, rather than fading away. It looks like this when viewing the file , but when printed I am getting this . (don't mind the color, it is a bad quality photo)
Â
I am using an HP z5200 postscript printer.

I have been having an issue with the Lens Transparency effect and bitmaps . When I apply a square lens transparency over a square bitmap and group them it looks fine on my screen but parts of the final image are always missing when I print . I have duplicated this error a number of different ways and with two different video cards . I am running XP and have 3 gigs of RAM .

I'm exporting files as .eps to print them with my roland printer using versaworks.
The problem is when i'm exporting files from my desk computer, (CorelDraw X6) and then I print it I have this problem. my bitmap components in the file are printed with many more pixel than before. and I don't know why.
Maybe since I updated my X6 version? It does that with files that contain drop shadow effects or transparency.
The thing is when i'm exporting the same file with my Laptop, using Coreldraw X5 and I then print it, IÂ don't have this problem. So the printer's software is not the problem. I double cheked all my .eps exporting settings and they are the same in both computer.
You can see on these pictures what's right and what's wrong.

When I print to .pdf for A1 and plot, no worries, all lineweights print solid and perfectly. However, when I print to .pdf for A3 (scaling lineweights), whilst all the lineweights appear solid on the screen, when I plot the layers that are set to transparency are faded/rough/broken on paper.
Ticking the plot transparency box doesn't work and it happens to my printer at home and at work. I haven't used transparent layers before and have adopted this drawing created through someone else.

Book Module: Export as indd file and management
Â
I would like to request a feature to export a book module as indd file. I like PDF's but .indd is nice also so we are able to to more in depth layouts.
Having Lightoom being able to manage all your pictures and book layouts would be nice, alot of things can be done in one application.
Another Feature:Â Using Lightoom as book layout management.
Â
Being able to send a page(s) of the book from lightroom into InDesign to do indepth layout and editing, then being able to send it back into lightroom Almost similar to how you can send a photo from LR in Photoshop to do indepth editing and then send it back into lightroom.
Â
This could and will ease the workflow of book management and layout design. So lightroom will not only be able to manage photos, but also indesign and book layouts. [URL]....

I am trying to export an interactive PDF from an indd file that has multiple linked indd files. Within the linked files, I have URLs and a few forms.
Â
I was able to get a URL to work on one linked indd file. The rest don't seem to work.Am I doing something wrong? Or is it just that an interactive PDF only works with one indd file at a time?

I have two pictures.
I would like the two pictures to blend in the middle from left to right.
The picture on the left will be sharpe on the left side but fade/transparent by the time it reaches the middle.
The picture on the right will be sharpe on the right side but fade/transparent in the middle.
I would think I need a gradient transparency (you always have to use a color)
I see pictures like this all the time, but can not seem to find the correct feature or combinations of features.

How do I convert the colour profile of a Lightroom custom printing package from Adobe Prophoto to sRGB before printing? For that matter, how do I save the thing? I have no interest in saving the template, or the collection separately, since neither has any use without the other. And without saving them as one finished item, I have no way to convert the colour profile of that item. I can see clearly from the appearance of the print preview that the above mentioned colour profile conversion is required.

In Coreldraw there is a transparency tool which allows you to merge one photo into another - not like layers on top of each other, but overlapping along the edges, so that the outer edges of each pic are unaffected, and the central area is like a mixture of each pic. You could do something similar in Photoshop elements using the Gradient tool, but the gradient tool in CS2 doesn't seem to work the same way.
At the moment, I'm having to join/blend two pics in Coreldraw, save the result as a jpeg, and then open the resultant file in CS2 to continue working.
In Coreldraw the little tool is called 'Transparency'-'Fountain' I can't believe CS2 can't do something similar.

How do I make a background transparent? For example I made a document with just my name...Kim. I don't want there to be a rectangular/square or ANY kind of background...just that word, nothing around it, nothing behind it. How do I do that? Before you answer...
I've tried it by putting the document settings at "background>transparent". But when I came across it in my documents folder, it had a background around it. I've thought about selecting the word, and putting it onto a new, "transparent" document, but it doesn't seem to me that would help if it doesn't work when you set the background to transparent on the ORIGINAL and having it not turn out. Don't know what to do??

When creating images to be used on the web there are some where I wouldn't like the white of the background visible (a transparent background).
I've tried deleting the background layer, reducing the fill and opacity to 0% and the background eraser, when I save the images there is no background visible but when previewed on the internet they appear!?

I want to make a very simple sig, text only, no effects or anything. Basically, I just don't like the available fonts that I can use for an html sig on the board I post on ;p Anyways, I save the file as a .gif with transparency and when I tested it out in an HTML file, it showed up fine, but that was only with a white background. When I changed the background color to anything other than white, the text had white pixels around it. Could anyone give some pointers on how to get rid of those pixels around the text? It wouldn't be a problem if the board background color was white, but it's blue. I also tried saving as a .png, same result.

How do I save a Photoshop file with a transparent background so that it may be used in other programs?
