Photoshop :: Squaring Up A Rectangle
Feb 15, 2005
how to correct a rectangle in a shot.
I have shot a sign that I couldn't quite center. I ended up with the two sides and the bottom vertical and horizontal as i want but; the top is curved in toward the center enough to be visible. The rectangle is a record board so it is filled with names and times that go funny when I try to perspective transform, so either the likely that I don't know how to use transform> perspective.

I have a photo of a painting. Somehow the image became distorted between the painting and the camera such that while the top, left side and the bottom are OK the right hand side slants inwards from bottom to top - ie: the top is narrower than the bottom.
Its not a big slant and I could probably trim up the right hand side (but I'd be getting close to the artist's signature) or use the clone tool to try and fill in the missing area.
However since the image is all there, just a bit compressed towards the upper right hand corner, is there any plug in (or other procedure) that would let me pull out the pixels toward the upper right?
Using PS7 and windows 2000.

I'm looking for a function that lets me take a rectangular face viewed from an oblique angle, and square it up as if I were looking straight at it.
For example (can't draw pictures to show you what I mean), suppose I take a photo of an apartment building while I'm standing across the street and off to one side. I need a tool that lets me click on the four corners of the building's face and un-distorts the face, making it rectangular.
I have used a non-PDN tool (GIMP? Photoshop?) that had this capability. We used it to model the buildings at [URL] .... from actual photos.
Now I'd like to do this with PDN. I read about Evan Olds' Quadrilateral Reshaping and dpy's Perspective Effect. I've installed both plug-ins, and while they can do the trick with a little nudging, they're not exactly what I'm looking for.

Paint Shop Pro X5.
I have some photos of old magazine covers, some of which weren't taken straight on, so that the covers aren't square. With previous versions of Paint Shop Pro, I could drag a corner out until it made the image look square [actually, rectangular], but I can't figure out how to do it with this version.
how to square up the edges of an image?

I have 4 layers (background, layer1, layer2, layer3-text). They fill all 300 x 600 pixels that comprise the .psd/future image. What I want to do is use a rounded rectangle to encompass all of the other layers, so that the surrounding pixels (around the rounded rectangle) are transparent.
I want all of my current layers to be the content of a rounded rectangle.

I'm trying to create an effect on a webpage using a gradient. I'm basically looking for 4 regular linear gradients starting at each of the four sides of the page and turning transparent/white in at about 15%, I don't want the gradient to go all the way to the middle. The problem is of course the corners, I cannot figure out a way to make them look right.
Does anyone know how to do this or have any ideas? I'm new to ps but fairly proficient. This is what I have so far but I'm looking for blended corners, like a picture frame....one of the keys that I'm looking for is the ability to change how far the gradients extend from the edge of the page.

This should be easy to answer for most - but my Photoshop skills are self-taught and I feel ridiculous for not knowing this.
I want to draw a rectangle with no fill (transparent) but with a coloured outline. What is the simplest way of doing this?

I have an image that is the birds eye view to some homes. I want to use the rectangle tool to draw a rectangle around a home and rotate it. How would I use the rectange tool to do that?
I want the rectangle to not fill with a color, instead, the fill would be transparent, but the border would be red. Then I'd like to rotate it some?
How do I do all that? I can click on the rectangle tool in the toolbox. Then click and draw a rectangle. The box fills with a color and covers whatever is underneath it, then I go over to opacity in the layer and bring it down to 0. That then shows what's underneath it. Is that the right approach?
How do I create a red border? How do I rotate the rectangle?

I can't seem to get the shapes (rectangle tool) to work.
When I draw a rectangle shape in a new file (or an old one) it is not displayed in the navigator. When I save the file and open it again the shapes are gone.

The problem that I am having is whenever I try to create a rectangle with no fill, there is a shadow on the inside of the rectangle. Furthermore, if I make the border very thin, there is an issue with transparency. I'll let the attachment pictures speak for themselves, basically I just want these rectangle borders to be solid lines.
I'm using Photoshop CS6 on a Mac.

I have a rectangle and I need to drag the bottom corners up, leaving the centre section in place to create a curve along the bottom edge.
What I don't want is to create a mask to hide the bottom corners, as I need the image on the left and right edges to compress as I drag it up.

how to do a simple resize of a rectangle marquee after I have drawn a selection onto my document.
I opened an image in a new PSD document, and drew a rectangle marquee around the selection I want to cut. Problem is the rectangle marquee isn't the size I want, so when I use transform selection to scale the selection, it causes the whole image to scale with the marquee I've drawn.
I don't want the image to scale, I just want the marquee I drew to scale into the desired size.
