Jan 31, 2011I have hardly ever used filters for any of my work as I have preferred using Xara's native tools and effects to get what I wanted. But recently, I was inspired by some animation work which used backgrounds painted in Photoshop. They used a lot of textures which enhanced the look of the animation and so I thought I'd try to simulate it within Xara.
It works very well and I can export it as a PSD retaining the layers and Alpha channel. But here come my questions.
1. How can I remove the two Alien Skin demo plugins as I already have the full versions.
2. Why don't the native Photoshop plugins--Artistic, Sketch, etc.--seem to work?
Revit :: Phasing Filters Seem To Be Set Up Correctly
Oct 13, 2013I have three phases set up, and also design options. The phases I have set as Existing, Demolition, and New, and the design options can either be Existing which is set to none or demolished, or New which is simply option 1 (there may well be future design options to consider).
In my ground plan, I have for phase settings the existing on, and demolished on, I also have the Visibility/Graphics Overrides set so the existing phase option is shown. For some reason though nothing shows up, only the model section lines? The only way I can see anything is if I set the phase filter to show New, though if I do that, it shows the demolished, when the demolished is turned off?
Phasing filters seem to be set up correctly.I have also found that where I have a view set to be New Phase, but using the same phasing filter Existing only, I actually see everything, here it seems to work correctly?
Photoshop :: Loss Of Sketch Option In Filters
Jun 7, 2009Im trying to turn in a image into a photocopy. In the filters drop down there the sketch option is not highlited so i cant access this option as well as extract, filter gallery and pattern maker in one section. The section with sketch is also not letting me acces artistic, brush strokes, pixalate and texture. also dimarc isant highlighted. i have reset to default work space reset all tools and brushes what else can i do.

Dec 14, 2012I am editing raw color images in PS CS6. I process them through Adobe Camera Raw into PS. When I apply any of the B&W Sketch filters to the image it changes the image to a B&W negative rather than a B&W positive. The color filters work normally on the same image.

However, I noticed that my "Sketch" filters do not include the comic or graphic novel options. Were these two omitted from the Mac-version? Or do I have a faulty copy of the program?

Jul 20, 2008Working on a simple 8-bit RGB image in the Filter Gallery, I find that a number of them (bas relief, charcoal, graphic pen, and a few others) give an all black preview. I have tried different zoom levels and mucked about with the settings on each, but they just don't seem to work at all. Others work fine on the same image. I restarted CS3 and also tried a different image, but the result was the same. Working on an XP-Pro machine with 3GB RAM.

May 15, 2009I recently installed Photoshop CS4 and when I try to use certain filters (think the ones that uses 3D) I can't click them.
Like Filters > Render > Lense Flare it's not greyed out but I can't click it, nothing happens.
My Photoshop said something about GPU mode being disabled in Preferences > Performance, but I enabled it, and ticked all options in GPU Settings > Advanced Settings. I tried every possible combination.
I updated to newest version, yet nothing seems to work.
I need to lay last hand on a picture and I need that flare for my sun!

Oct 29, 2013'm running windows 7, and am using PS CS5. It has started developing a few problems that are becoming very troublesome. My system is 64-bit running intelcore i5 2320 3.00 gz with 6gb ram. It's a Dell which is probably the main problem to begin with, but here goes.
It won't open any secondary files on the first try. When it doesn't, I have to scroll through folders, then try to re-open the file. Major headache. On my preferences under performance, "Open GLdraw" is not checked.
It often won't let me make any image adjustments on a file, or on a layer unless I close the program and restart.saving files in an unrecognized format. I usually can recover some if I open them with paint, but I find this ridiculous.
Photoshop :: Liquify And Other Filters Not Working
Jul 16, 2013I have two problems with my Photoshop CS3.
1] When I open an image > Filter > Use Liquify filter > Press OK -----Nothing happens, Image reverts back to its original state. Same thing happens with other filters.Why is this happening?I re-installed PS and even formatted my PC (Win7, i3) but still it continues. Used mode> RGB/8bit ----but non of any use.
2] Also, PS is creating *_MVM_.tmp files on othe HDD ie on D:/ and E:/

Nov 29, 2012I have a red circle on one layer. That layer is selected in the Layers window. When I choose Filter | Brush Strokes | Spatter, the circle doesn't change (i.e., no spattering).
I'm using CS5 on Windows, the image is RGB/8, all of the filters are enabled, the colors are set to foreground black and background white, I've tried dragging the radius and smoothness sliders, I've pressed Ctrl (which changes the Cancel button to Default) and clicked Default.
If I move through the other filters, most of them don't seem to do anything. These Artistic filters do work: Colored Pencil, Neon Glow, Sponge; none of the Brush Strokes appear to work.
Photoshop :: 3D / Filters And Save For Web Not Working?
Sep 25, 2012At work we just put cs6 on a w7 machine running 64 bit which has more than that required mem and or ram to run cs6 - unfortunately I have to use a windows based machine at work (cheapskates). Anyways. I see the 3d menus and the filter menu in PS but they aren't funtional. The filter menu drop down is there but Liquify is the only one that shows up the rest are gray.
The option to choose 3d is also there but they are not functional (grayed out) - I took a look at some online tutorials on using the 3d effect in PS CS6 and Ive gone through it a few times and it still won't work for me. Also, in illustrator when I save for web - when I adjust the pixel dimensions and move the mouse over and click on the image that I am saving for web nothing happens and I'm completely boggled about how to get the image size to change in the save for web pane.
Typically I am used to being able to input the the number into the pixel dimenion field and click on the image and the image resizes (on a mac you can either click on the image or hit return and the image will resize in front of your eyes!). I am unable to get this to work the way I am used to, this happens for me in both ill5 and ill6 on this piece of crap windows machine. Maybe I just need to reinstall? Maybe adobe has changed the way this works? Maybe a sledge hammer into this windows machine would solve all my problems!?

I've made sure my files are on RGB and it's 16bit...the layers arn't locked or anything. I don't know whats happened?

Apr 6, 2009I can't get quickmask to work correctly in photoshop. Each thing I try to mask and then copy ends up having 50% or so opacity. All the layers are at 100% opacity, and in the quickmask options opactiy is also at 100%. Anyone know what could be wrong?

Aug 3, 2008I have been using PS for years and CS3 for months. A few days ago, all the blur filters stopped working. They are still in the filter list, but nothing happens when I click on them. However, the blur tool still works. All other filters and plug ins work (except where the plugin makes use of the built in blur filters). I have tested many images, checked that I am in RGB 8 bit mode, removed and reinstalled Photoshop, reset the preferences using ctrl-shift-alt on start up. Still nothing.

Photoshop :: Eraser And Brush Are Not Working Correctly
Dec 28, 2012For some reason photoshop at times will only let me erase or draw within the confines of a specific layer. It seems to happen randomly without me accidently hitting a hotkey of some sort.
For instance in the image below, I was drawing and randomly I noticed I could no longer draw. It would only let me use the brush/erase tool within the confines of the line work I had already established. The only way I have been able to correct this so far is to completely restart photoshop.

Jul 14, 2012Keyboard shortcuts are working sporadically. For instance, when using select all, copy, paste shortcuts to copy from one image to another in a different tab it can take 2 presses of the keyboard to get them to work. This also makes actions unusable.
Using MacPro 2.66 Nehalem 8 core, OS 10.6.8, 32GB RAM, ATI Radeon HD 4870
Have tried:
Adjusting Performance in preferences -currently 25062 memory usage, history states 20, cache levels8, cache level 1024, use graphics processor ticked. Have changed all of these settings with no effect on problem.
Closed all other programs(including all browsers).
Removed any plug-ins. Closed flash panels namely mini bridge.
Having to revert to an older version of Photoshop at the moment as dodgy Keyboard shortcuts make CS6 unusable. Also have a problem with Camera Raw which I have raised in another Discussion that makes it unusable also.
Photoshop :: Place CMD And Batch Not Working Correctly
Aug 12, 2013I am using the "Place" command to embed my transparent logo into all my images that I post.I hand place the logo in the right bottom corner (not "aligned" as it just pushes the logo too close to the edge). My problem is when I create an action incorporating the "place" command and use it in batching, my "hand" placed logo defaults to the center of the screen which I don't want. Is this a bug. Shouldn't the placement go where I actually place it? I am using percentages to resize so that should not be a problem.
When I use the align tool the batch actually works and places it in the absolute alignment position, but that looks terrible.

Sep 24, 2012Environment: CS6 (PS 13.0.1) Mac OS X 10.7.5. Plenty of hardware. (Generally starting with .CR2 RAW.)Recently (maybe since the 13.0.1 update??), I have been having problems with the open and save as dialog boxes.
First. The open file dialog always defaults to Enable: blank (i.e. no file types enabled). Each time I have to go to the bottom of the dropdown list and select "All readable documents" before I can open ANY type of file. I've searched in everyway I can think of looking for some method to have OPEN default to "all readable" but can't find anyway to do this. when whipping around at deadline having to stop each time and make this change is irritating. No other program has this difficulty (including Illustrator and InDesign). PS 5.5 did not exhibit this behavior on the same machine.
Second. When I save as and try to select any file format, say going from psd to tiff, the format dropdown list ALWAYS selects the format ABOVE the one I choose. Example: If I select JPEG, PS tries to save as .iff. If I pull the selection down to JPEG2000 it will then save as standard JPEG. Again just an irritant but, tiff (which I need for several other programs) is last on the list thus there is no way I can go one below it to get tiff format selected. It always comes out as png. Also note that the Format selection indicates the correct format - in the case of tiff the dialog box shows TIFF selected, but the program is appending .png. (Continuing the save as (without altering my selection) always results in the incorrect format no matter what the Format dialog says in the save as operation.) Again, no other program I work with (including several Adobe products) exhibits this behavior.
I seriously need to be able to save as tiff.
Photoshop :: CS5.1 Suddenly Stops Working Correctly When Opening Another File
Nov 16, 2012I have the Creative Suite cs5.1 student version (had it for about a year now), and now recently I have started to encounter a strange bug with Photoshop.
Sometimes when I have been working in PS for a while and then open another file, the photoshop starts acting weird, resulting in the file looking like this: [URL] .....
And if I try to paint anything, it will look pixelated like in this file: [URL] .... and if I use ctrl+z after painting the paint just looks like this: [URL]...... the 2 last named effects will also apply for any images opened before this occurrence, and it happens for any file type.
I have checked my video card drivers, and they are up to date, so that's not a problem (My graphics card is ATI Radeon 5700 series). I've also run a throughout virus scan with Norton without it finding anything.
