I've been using Photoshop CS for a while now, but today I open it up and no matter what I try the only filters that work are some Blur, Noise, Sharpen, Stylize and Other. I've made sure my files are on RGB and it's 16bit...the layers arn't locked or anything. I don't know whats happened?
View 1 RepliesI have photoshop CS installed on a G5. Photoshop was working fine, but now some of the default keyboard shortcuts are missing. The one I miss the most is (command, option ~) which should load a luminosity selection. But for some reason no longer works. I've tried reinstalling photoshop. I've tried reloading the keyboard shortcut defaults again. Maybe there is something wrong with my default shortcuts file? but I haven't been able to locate a source where I can download another. In any case i would have thought that the reinstalling the CS creative suite would have resolved the issue if the file was bad.
How do I check my keyboard driver? where is it? wher do i get another?
I have hardly ever used filters for any of my work as I have preferred using Xara's native tools and effects to get what I wanted. But recently, I was inspired by some animation work which used backgrounds painted in Photoshop. They used a lot of textures which enhanced the look of the animation and so I thought I'd try to simulate it within Xara.
It works very well and I can export it as a PSD retaining the layers and Alpha channel. But here come my questions.
1. How can I remove the two Alien Skin demo plugins as I already have the full versions.
2. Why don't the native Photoshop plugins--Artistic, Sketch, etc.--seem to work?
I have the CS 6 abd some of the filters like graphic pen & photocopy not working. The field i am working is sRGB.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWorking on a simple 8-bit RGB image in the Filter Gallery, I find that a number of them (bas relief, charcoal, graphic pen, and a few others) give an all black preview. I have tried different zoom levels and mucked about with the settings on each, but they just don't seem to work at all. Others work fine on the same image. I restarted CS3 and also tried a different image, but the result was the same. Working on an XP-Pro machine with 3GB RAM.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Photoshop CS4 and when I try to use certain filters (think the ones that uses 3D) I can't click them.
Like Filters > Render > Lense Flare it's not greyed out but I can't click it, nothing happens.
My Photoshop said something about GPU mode being disabled in Preferences > Performance, but I enabled it, and ticked all options in GPU Settings > Advanced Settings. I tried every possible combination.
I updated to newest version, yet nothing seems to work.
I need to lay last hand on a picture and I need that flare for my sun!

1] When I open an image > Filter > Use Liquify filter > Press OK -----Nothing happens, Image reverts back to its original state. Same thing happens with other filters.Why is this happening?I re-installed PS and even formatted my PC (Win7, i3) but still it continues. Used mode> RGB/8bit ----but non of any use.

2] Also, PS is creating *_MVM_.tmp files on othe HDD ie on D:/ and E:/
I have a red circle on one layer. That layer is selected in the Layers window. When I choose Filter | Brush Strokes | Spatter, the circle doesn't change (i.e., no spattering).

I'm using CS5 on Windows, the image is RGB/8, all of the filters are enabled, the colors are set to foreground black and background white, I've tried dragging the radius and smoothness sliders, I've pressed Ctrl (which changes the Cancel button to Default) and clicked Default.

If I move through the other filters, most of them don't seem to do anything. These Artistic filters do work: Colored Pencil, Neon Glow, Sponge; none of the Brush Strokes appear to work.

View 5 Replies View RelatedAt work we just put cs6 on a w7 machine running 64 bit which has more than that required mem and or ram to run cs6 - unfortunately I have to use a windows based machine at work (cheapskates). Anyways. I see the 3d menus and the filter menu in PS but they aren't funtional. The filter menu drop down is there but Liquify is the only one that shows up the rest are gray.
The option to choose 3d is also there but they are not functional (grayed out) - I took a look at some online tutorials on using the 3d effect in PS CS6 and Ive gone through it a few times and it still won't work for me. Also, in illustrator when I save for web - when I adjust the pixel dimensions and move the mouse over and click on the image that I am saving for web nothing happens and I'm completely boggled about how to get the image size to change in the save for web pane.
Typically I am used to being able to input the the number into the pixel dimenion field and click on the image and the image resizes (on a mac you can either click on the image or hit return and the image will resize in front of your eyes!). I am unable to get this to work the way I am used to, this happens for me in both ill5 and ill6 on this piece of crap windows machine. Maybe I just need to reinstall? Maybe adobe has changed the way this works? Maybe a sledge hammer into this windows machine would solve all my problems!?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using PS for years and CS3 for months. A few days ago, all the blur filters stopped working. They are still in the filter list, but nothing happens when I click on them. However, the blur tool still works. All other filters and plug ins work (except where the plugin makes use of the built in blur filters). I have tested many images, checked that I am in RGB 8 bit mode, removed and reinstalled Photoshop, reset the preferences using ctrl-shift-alt on start up. Still nothing.

Did you make a selection? Maybe small?And maybe even made its border invisible (ctrl-T)?
Your filters may be working on just a handful of selected pixels,rather than the whole image. This happens to me every time I usectrl-T to hide the marching ants.
I've read a few similiar discussion threads but none match exactly my prob.I have a collection (within a collection set) of items which have mixed photos that are flagged as picked and/or rated as 2 or 3 stars.

Invoking filters while in the collection - either flagged items or items >+ 2* don't work - it's not just flagged or rated items - no filtering seems to work on my collection.

Lots of other unusual behavior in collections that I can't detail right now, but something is defintely wrong.
I am a new user of GIMP on a late 2008 MacBook Pro with Leopard (10.5.. I am trying to work with an image by applying filters however the image in the filters dialogue box is so small, it's almost unusable. How I can enlarge a portion of my pic in this box to more accurately alter it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the latest LR 4.1 on a Mac. I'm working on a catalog of 3002 images. I've flagged some that I wanted to retouch. Then the retouched one, I give them the 5 star status. So, when I work, I just turn on the FLAGGED filters to see the pictures I previsouly selected. Now, I wanted to go back to ALL my image. So, I thought it would have been as easy as selecting: FILTERS OFF at the bottom right menu in the LIBRARY MODULE, but that doesn't change much. Acutally, I think it doesn't change anything. So, I thought, ok, I'll turn the little switch next to the FILTER menu. I see then FILTERS OFF. That doesn't change a thing ! So, I know I have 3000 images, but I'm stuck inside a catalog that doesn't allow me to see them (?) I realized that by pressing the little flags next to this menu, it gives me 3 options:
- FILTER BASED ON FLAG STATUS
- FILTER BASED ON FLAG STATUS (UNFLAGGED ONLY)
- FILTER BASED ON FLAG STATUS (REJECTED ONLY)
But none seems to really get seeing all my picture, flagged and unflagged one.

How can I just see all the photos, flagged and unflagged together ?
OS: Windows 7..I click on the PSCS5 button to start the program. The Photoshop.exe file briefly appears in Task Manager, then disappears. Nothing else happens. No error messages, no warnings, no nothing. I've uninstalled PS and reinstalled it. Trying to get the 12.0.4 patch installed, but since you're supposed to do it from inside the program, I can't run it.I just tried executing with Ctrl+Alt+Shift and it still doesn't want to come out and play.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy layer filters are not working on the ribbon, why and/or if this is an autocad bug.
I created one for hiding Xref layers, which is an inverted filter. it works on the "Layer Properties Manager" but does not work on my ribbon layer menu. If i turn on the old layer dialog it is working in there.
I know there are many differnt views about the ribbon so i dont need any of the comments telling me to turn it off and get on with it etc.
If you look at the attached images you can see the screen shots of my problem. Note that i have the layer settings correct. Autocad Help says that if the "apply filter to layer toolbar" is on then it will apply this to the ribbon. which it does not.
I am using 2013 C3D with SP1. After I publish sheets using the sheet set manager my layer filters stop working (will not filter layers, it will just display the last layer filter used prior to running the sheet set manager).

When I follow these directions that came with the download...
Open Photoshop, go to the actions palette, on the top right of the palette,
click on the little triangle (delta) and from the menu choose “load action”.
Find where you downloaded the “HR v1.3.atn” file and click on load.
and try to open the folder I've downloaded the file into, there is nothing there. When I back out of Photoshop and go to this same folder (located in My Docs), the action is there along with all my other downloaded plugins.
I start up the program (Photoshop CS) the hand tool is selected. No matter what I try I can not select any other tools at all. I've been trying to self teach myself this program for about 6 months and I've never chosen to use the hand tool at all, so I never intentionally set anything to make it default or anything like that.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI do a lot of montage work in PSCS and have recently been using my Wacom tablet and boy do I love it, but have a question for those of you who use tablets.
When I'm doing a montage I use very soft brushes to merge the edges. With my Intuos pen, even though I use a large soft brush setting (same as the one I use with a mouse) I get very pen like lines, so I always end up switching to the mouse. Do I need to do something with either the pen settings or the way I use it, or should I be getting an "airbrush" for this kind of work.
I have a number of pictures where background is dull or boring while subjects in foreground are lively. So I want to switch the background with lets say a plane color with some gradient to give it a studio appearence.
The first problem I have is to select the foreground subject sharply, much difficut because of hairline etc.
So how can I select my subject in the most easy way so that outlines are sharp & none of the details are missing.
i have a G5 dual and 3 Gig of RAM. why is my tablet making PS so sluggish? when i paint/erase (even a small area) it takes several seconds after i lift the pen before i can do my next edit. it's the only program running and the file only has three layers.

Whenever I'm in Photoshop I can click "Copy" with no problem, however, the instant I click "Paste" - my laptop powers off instantly.
It does not happen in any other program (Excel, Word, Illustrator, etc) - only Photoshop.
The problem originally started when I had CS (yes,it was a legitimate version!). After buying CS2, I uninstalled CS and loaded the brand new legitimate copy of CS2,
I have Photoshop CS3 Extended. The filters have recently stopped working, and has dropped me to a few filters to work with. Is there anyway to get my filters back without uninstalling and reinstalling the program?

And everything I find about blur is the new blur filters....
