I'm trying to fill some technical drawings with the simple hatch/dot /chevron pattern fills that seem to be in most simple applications but photoshop only has textures , and i can't find any to download for mac osx .(Free , as this is a one-off job ). Either that or an application that has the fills and a magic wand.
View 5 RepliesI am using Coreldraw X5 for printing and sublimation. If I use Pattern or Texture fills for a background, is there any way to make them less intense so the text can more easily be read? I am not sure of the correct terminology, whether it is "fade", "intensity" "transparency" etc. I would just like the fill to be fainter.

I see a Patterns folder in CDX5 but it doesn't have the default pattern I need. I need to change the color. I noticed that custom made patterns go into My Documents/Core/Vector Patterns.

I am trying to make a hatch pattern in Illustrator CS6 with the pattern tool so I can apply a clean, single lined hatch to various shapes (some small some big - but the hatch needs to remain at the same seamless scale). I understand that there is a Basic Graphics_Lines Pattern under the Swatches Palette, but I don't understand how to edit it with the Pattern Options dialogue box.
I must be missing something, because I wouldn't think making a single line at 45° repeat at the same spacing for a shape fill would be that difficult. I shouldn't have to make a line with the pan tool at a stroke of 1000 with a 0.1-3 dash and make a clipping mask should I?
Basically I don't know how to make a pattern's lines match up when I do the 5x5 or 3x3. I tried doing 1x1 and the result is that of the image with the red stroke...still not aligning. Do I need to get mathematical with the size of the line I'm drawing and its stroke to allow H and V Spacing to work?
Illustrator keeps freezing when applying an effect such as texture-grain to a simple gradient, or even rasterizing a simple black circle. My system is about a 6month old macbook pro with 16gb ram, i7 and AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1024 MB. What could be causing this? It wasn't like this when i first started using the laptop but has started to do it everytime i try and do any of those simple tasks recently.

I am working on a project where I am doing hand drawn rotoscope (think waking life). For larger areas I am drawing the outline and then filling the shape with the paint bucket. The problem is that the fill doesn't go all the way to the edge of the outline. The anti-aliasing on the brush seems to be creating it, but I don't want to turn anti-aliasing off. It will be a huge time saver for me to figure this out.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use Photoshop 7.0, and yesterday I started having an issue with Color Fills.
(You may actually have to Say I have a black-and white lineart on the background layer, such as this.
I double-click on the background layer to make it edit-able.
I click on the Color Fill button, choose solid color, then pick any color (say we use bright red). I go back to the lineart, move the Color Fill layer to underneath the lineart layer, and fill the Color Fill with black. Normally, it would just create white, however for me it has pink/light red. The same thing also happens for patterns and gradients; it leaves a very faded version of the color on the picture.
I didn't change any options or settings, however my little brother was playing around with Photoshop, and he may have changed something. Can anyone tell me how to get it so that there is no pink or faded color there?
Getting an issue whereby gradient fills have changed when you reopen a PSD. It's happening too often to me to be something i'm doing accidentally.
Sometimes i save my file and the gradient fill on a shape is be grey, reopen and it's then white. Fixing it and saving it again seems to then save it properly. I haven't been able to establish a pattern to reproducing it yet. Hence why i'm wondering if others have seen this too?
In Photoshop, I realized that the shape tool is divided into three prefered styles - Shape, Path, and Pixels. In Shape, I have the option to to change the stroke and fill but not alias it. In Pixels, I have the option to alias it but not change both the fill and stroke. If I create a shape as one style, I cannot convert it to another. Is there a way to change both the fill and stroke of an aliased shape?

View 3 Replies View RelatedFor some reason when I recently opened P&GD6 and opened the Fill gallery to choose a fill for an image, the majority of the fill folders would not open. Previously I could expand any of the folders to view the contents. Also, the top six folders in the Fill gallery list have (Web) after the folder name. I don't recall seeing this before either. The same folders also appear in the bottom of the list without the web designation.
How to get ALL of my fills back, or how they could have been made inaccessible? I've attached a screenshot view of the folder list that appears when I click the Fill icon. Yellow highlights at the top of the list indicate the folders with the word web after them. These are the only one that I can successfully open.
I sometimes like to add a little more depth into my drawings than having single paths be of a single fill. In the illustration below, for example, I have two balls drawn.
The first was made the way I was taught. A stroke and fill - all consisting of one path. The second, I tried something different to show more depth, but it consists of three paths. A black stroke with no fill, a dark red fill with no stroke, and a background red fill with no stroke. The first way was easier since I could add a stroke and fill to the same path, but I can't capture more details that way if extra colors touch the stroke. And if I were add paths on top of an object, then I would have to be too percise so they don't overlap the stroke. This second way, I at least have a stroke to draw behind.
Is this making sense to people? I want check here to see if there's an easier way to do this. Making an object that only consists of an outline and not a fills doesn't seem right if it is meant to include a fill.

A shaft has a rectangular pattern of holes (along its axis) on its surface. I want to pattern the 4th occurence of this hole pattern as a circular pattern? Can I do it in Autodesk. I can not select the a specific occurance of a patterned feature to pattern it again.
As you see in the template photo (the photo was scanned by Microsoft Security Essentials, healthy) I wanted to extrude my circle, and I made 28 pieces with circular pattern feature; now, do I have to choose all the pieces by one by to be able to choose all?
The sum of the problem: while using the Circular Pattern feature or rectangular pattern feature in Inventor, sometimes I want to extrude (join) or cut the drawings that I made (augmented) with using circular pattern feature, rectangular pattern feature. in this case do I have to choose all the augmented members one by one (for instance I make 42 augmented members), it can take a lot of time.?
How is it possible to use "Feature Pattern Select'' to make the Pattern a want in an assembly?

I have a circular part on which I have created a linear pattern (using the rectangular pattern feature) of holes, 6 in total listed as 3 ccurrences. if we number the holes 1-6, I would like to make a circular pattern based off holes 2 and 5. I have been unable to figure out how to select the individual "occurrence" related to the hole once in the pattern feature. If I create the circular pattern first and then the linear and try to suppress the others it supresses both holes in the occurrence.

I have chosen different sizes in the pattern window but all show up with seams when I fill the larger space. Am I doing something wrong or is the largest size you can create with this tool seamlessly only 9x9?

I'm going to end up with a few gazillion of them because I do texture maps in Poser. So I HAVE to be able to keep adding new patterns to the Plaid Set, the Polka Dot Set, the Purple Monkey set... But I can't find this info anywhere.

If I draw a shape (or select an already existing shape) and choose "Bitmap Fill" or "Full Color Pattern" CDX6 freezes and then after several seconds throws the "CorelDRAW X6 has stopped working" error at me with the only options to "Check online for a solution..." or "Close the program"
Prior to the 16.2 update CDX6 would freeze in the above circumstances but eventually come out of it and apply the fill (program wouldn't have to be closed).
All other fills work as expected. This is a Win7 32-bit system.

I can't I never tried out the bitmap fill tool until now lol. I was wondering if there are sites that you can get fills and add them into to Xara, I have tried a few texture files, but for what ever reason Xara does not find them when I load the directory (disk fills...)
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've just been to the web site and downloaded a bunch of brushes and fills that are wonderful. I used the suggested for unzipping the files and then going to the disc fills and loading the files. I only got a few to load and then I got a message that suitable files could not be found. I checked all the folders that I created and everything is in there but I keep getting that same message. The brushes are another story all together. I went to the folder and dragged and dropped the files directly into the line gallery as a new brush but I can't remember how I save each brush so that every time I exit the program I lose all those beautiful brushes.
