May 12, 2004I have to prepare a graphic in photoshop for print.
Its a full colour CD cover, with set sizes, bleeds, etc, how do i prepare it for print ? is it best to save as a pdf for the printing company ?

Photoshop :: Variations Plugin - Manipulate Art And Prepare For Flexographic Printing
Dec 6, 2012I use the variations adjustment almost exclusively to manipulate art and prepare for flexographic printing. With flexo printing we can not let separations drop off to 0% within an image. We are still film based output. The smallest percentage for highlights that will hold on plate is 2%. If there are any areas within the image that fall below 2% the plate may or may not hold that dot which in turn may or may not result in mountain ranging or dirty print once on press.
Using the magic wand > tolerance > contigous on or off depending of situation, I can make pinpoint selections to those problem areas then adjust using variations > highlights > fine > with each time I select darker it adds 1%.I'm using CS5 in 32-bit mode. Since upgrading to CS6 with no option of running in 32-bit mode I've been testing the shadows/highlight option for these adjustments. While it does work, it is not as accurate as variations.
Curves seems to be the best alternative solution to variations. With the Pigment/Ink% selected and Output at 2% I've saved a preset that automatically adds 2% to each cmy. Or I can adjust individual channels separately.
Using the variations option was much quicker than curves which overtime slows my production. I edit 15 plus images a day. That extra 2 or 3 minutes it takes me to perform the same task in curves that I could perform with variations adds up to about an hour a day.

My question is: how to prepare model for printing? It is easy to draw it in sheet "Model" but how to prepare it for printing? Maybe I should divide drawing, but what to do it and what with margins.... After printing I have to receive real dimension (5cm must be 5cm after printing). I will use AutoCad2009

Jan 25, 2014I am re-setting as advert for a client who has asked that the artwork be sent to the publisher as; QUOTE - "Artwork to be supplied in high-resolution PDF. All images within the PDF must be 300dpi images formatted to PPA Pass4press Version 9" I can download the presets from the PPA website, but which one? None are for Illustrator CC (only CS3 and CS5). Does it actaully matter? and is it simply a case of creating the PDF using this PDF preset in my drop down menu?
I remember when all you had to do was make sure you were working in CMYK, create outlines, embed images, and used a hi-res setting (Press quality). I'm really just a little unsure.

Illustrator :: Prepare Artwork For Printer (2 PMS Colours)?
May 14, 2012I'm preparing artwork for a DLX sized envelope. The printer (CMYKonline) only offers 1 or 2 colour printing for this size envelope, not full colour printing. I have never used Pantone colours before, and I downloaded a trial copy of Adobe Illustrator.
I have the logo prepared as a print-ready PDF using Pantone 1788U for the red. (It's a very simple image, using no other colour save white.)
I inserted the image using Place (figured that one out); I typed in the text (black) and a solid line using Pantone 1788U again.
But how on earth do I make this artwork ready for the printer as specified?

Jan 11, 2013I need to prepare a linked chain araound a defined path. (Please have a look at the attached drawing) My idea is to have one element of the chain defined as a dynamic block and to manually "rotate" one side of the chain element. After that inserting the next element (previously aligning the user coordinate system) and "rotating" the right part again to the next position...
After doing the rotation, the block definition will change and the next block will be "disformed". So far no big problem, but the grip of the rotation parameter will stay there and I am not able to "rotate" the right part back into the old position (0 degree).

Oct 2, 2006i have an image that is 28' wide by 60' high. i have to tile print it, but i have to print it out on film (see thru acetate). it has to be able to print at 1400 dpi. i know how to print at 1400 dpi on adobe photoshop, but i dont know how to tile print on that program. i have the image now in illusrtator, because it lets me tile, but i cant get it to print out for film (1400 dpi). im using a epson 1280 printer.
i really need to be able to tile print this in high resolution on film. anyone know what i can do??

Oct 30, 2012How do I convert the colour profile of a Lightroom custom printing package from Adobe Prophoto to sRGB before printing? For that matter, how do I save the thing? I have no interest in saving the template, or the collection separately, since neither has any use without the other. And without saving them as one finished item, I have no way to convert the colour profile of that item. I can see clearly from the appearance of the print preview that the above mentioned colour profile conversion is required.

Jan 23, 2013I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS6 and when I print photos with it, the prints have small yellow ting and colors are saturated and dark. When I print the same .psd file in Lightroom 4, the colors are perfect and match to the monitor. I've calibrated the monitors and printer with Colormunki and they work perfectly with Lightroom 4. I take pics with my camera in AdobeRPG colorspace. I export pics straight from Lightroom to the Photoshop and I use AdobeRPG mode in photoshop too. I've tried the sRGB mode but no difference with colors.
Settings when I print: Normal Printing - Perceptual. I let Photoshop handle the colors and the profile is the same that I use in the Lightroom (I use the Perceptual intent in Lightroom 4).
When I use hard proofing with Photoshop and add to custom "AdobeRPG 1998" (same as in the Lightroom). The yellow tint gets harder and more harsh.

Nov 11, 2005I have a Canon i250 Printer and would like to print my photos onto Kodak Glossy Photo Paper but it says on the packet only for injet printers and my printer is Bubblejet. So would i be able to use that paper?
Also i found some photo paper around the house but it is only for Hewlett Packard printers but i tried it in my Canon printer and when it comes out there is so blobs its hard to explain like there is dots with white around it is this because i am using the wrong paper?

Jun 18, 2009I have just started using CS4, having upgraded from CS2. When I go to print in the print dialog box and go to the Printer Profiles box I am unable to see or select my paper profiles for my Epson 2200 and R300 printers.
There is a large number of profiles, primarily various color spaces, but only one paper profile for my Epson 2200. There also isn't any arrow or other way to scroll through the display to see the missing paper profiles.
All of the missing profiles are the standard paper profiles provided by Epson either with the printers or from their website. Do I need to reinstall these profiles in some way in CS4 or is there something else I should be doing to be able to access these profiles?
