AutoCAD Inventor :: HSM Express - How To Prepare A Model To Be Printed (3D)
Dec 2, 2013
I created a quite simple model in the Autodesk Inventor Professional. Now, I'd like to know how prepare it to be printed (3D) by using the INVENTOR HSM EXPRESS. I need to show the process.
I'm looking for the complete instruction set prepare Visual Basic Studio 2010 Express to program Inventor 2012 Professional.
At the moment, all I've done is to install VB Studio Basic 2010. If I'm not mistaken, don't I have to "configure" VB 2010 Express so it can be used with Inventor 2012?
I have to get the printed paper model, and to assembly it within Inventor.
At the moment, I have the chassis, and next step should be a surface modelling.
But I`m not sure, which tool should I use. Chassis consist of some bulkheads, and there should be one patch between two neighbors. Patches are already printed:
So I have to bend them, according to bulkheads profiles.
Question is: how can I perform this step? I can`t realize, how to bend these patches, to stich two neighbor profiles. Is it possible for Inventor? Or should I use the authomatic surface fill, and texturing later?
I have to draw big drawing which is consisted with 6 pages A0. I cant change the scale - this is requirements.
My question is: how to prepare model for printing? It is easy to draw it in sheet "Model" but how to prepare it for printing? Maybe I should divide drawing, but what to do it and what with margins.... After printing I have to receive real dimension (5cm must be 5cm after printing). I will use AutoCad2009
I have a 2D image and I have the opportunity to get this image printed as a 3D model. To do this however, I of course need a VERY SIMPLE 3D model made. I attached the photo. How to make this for me really really simple? I have tried and tried, to no avail. The image is a logo for a non-profit organization that I head.
Is it possible to have model space geometry print through a watermark in the layout? My watermark consists of mtext with an arial font placed manually in the layout. It is on it's own layer which is set to print at Shade 40 (plot style tables). Draworder works with other layout objects but not the geometry from the model space viewport. My watermark covers the model space geometry so it is not visible when printed. Is this possible?
I have completed my final part modelling, but as you know that before final machinig the part i want to get it forged from my vendor for that i want to prepare the forging drawing for him. but when i place the base view in the drawing sheet i always get the final part. How to prepare the forging drawing from the final part drawing or is there any way to make it.
How to get the 'Shape to Block' command to work (under express tools).
It says select object, but no matter what object I select eg. circle, pline or line, it says invalid selection. I am running AutoCAD 2012. Are 'shape' objects somehow different from any other objects?
I am able to use the menuload command to load the express menu, but when I try to execute one of the express tools. AutoCAD say invalid command, there was something on the website that said to type express tools at the command prompt, but when I do that, too it says invalid command.
All my plain AutoCAD seats are running their Express Tools correctly but the AutoCAD that comes with Inventor will not.I have ET partial loaded in my custom menu, just like the plain seats, and it shows up in the pull-down menu and the ribbon but when i pick on any of the tools, it says "Unknown command."
I'm just setting myself up on a new PC, and updating a few things along the way. I've gone from VS2005 to VS2010 express, and migrated my projects along the way. The migrated projects worked OK, but I've just started a new project and I can't figure out how to add a start up application for my project.
On the Debug tab in Project Properties, there's no option for startup application like there was in VS2005
Inventor CAD Administrator || Autodesk Inventor 2012 Certified Professional Autodesk AutoCAD 2012 Certified Professional|| Bachelor of Technology (Mechanical)
I migrated to a new computer with INV 2013 and the reference for Inventor does not appear in the list. I've tried reinstalling and also I've manually loaded the dll (Autodesk.Inventor.Interop.dll) but the GetActiveObject command cannot connect to Inventor.
There are also a few other express tools that when picked from the ribbon menu, do not work either. Now, I have seen elsewhere on the web that in this case, you should make sure there are no search paths set to R14 Bonus tools (which mine aren't), or repair and update express tools from add/remove programs in the control panel. I did this, and the only thing that happened was the numbers after SUBR@ changed.
Error 2 Cannot register type library "C:UsersaaronAppDataRoamingAutodeskApplicationPluginsSheetMetalSheetMetal.tlb". Error accessing the OLE registry. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8002801C (TYPE_E_REGISTRYACCESS)) SheetMetal
i see this error when I use VB express. I use window 7 and inventor 2014 64 bit now.

I'm building my first Addin by converting a macro. I've read Brian Ekins' white paper "Taking the step from VBA to Inv. Addins" (good stuff by the way) In that paper, he he describes creating a file "AUAddin.proj.user" in VB2005 Express. Basically the same name as the project file with a .user extension.
In VB2008 Express, a file by that name is created when the file is saved, the contents of that file contain a lot of commands similiar to those in the white paper. Is there a way to handle this? Can I add the contents from the white paper to the existing file?
I have printed an Inventor drawing with the views shaded, I noticed that the views have a gradient shade on them, is this standard or is there a way to configure IV so that the views shade in one color and not as a gradient ?
Currently I cannot print line weights with the "best fit" scale option selected.
Scale options of:
model 1:1 (w/o tiling) ,custom (above .7 scale), & current window all seem to scale the lineweight correctly. But the output is not limited to the sheet edges
IDW line weights display correctly within Inventor (2013) drawing environment
The behavior is the same across all printers on my system, including PDF & from the "export to PDF" option.
It seems any scale value smaller than .7 will zap the line weights from the preview as well as the hardcopy
My problem today is that I made a Model of a Part of a ship using surfaces rather than solids because the engineer thought it would be easier to bring into ANSYS program for analysis but he is now having a problem with it and I am looking into converting my current model to solid. I can do it but the method I thought of using is quite long winded and we are working to a tight deadline.
1.open up the surface part
2.use "Offset/Thicken"
3.any clashes between parts make a sketch and cut away.
the problem is the amount of plates I have and the time it takes to sort them out.
My application works with function it acet-ss-drag-moves of Express Tools. Can I distribute AutoCAD Express Tools with the program of Installation of my application?
This to guarantee that Express Tools will be with the user's AutoCAD. If this is possible what document should I use?
I'm looking to add the name of the person printing the document as well as the date to any paper copies printed. However, since everythign is stored in Vault, this needs to be done without making any changes to the document that require saving the document.
Ideally this would be automatic(requiring no user input).
I've used both iLogic and built Inventor Addins before.
how can i prepared X-section in support of any program i.e. i want that program which have make a x-section in bulk when i have a ogial level along with finish road level & gradient.
We received a surface model from a vendor that I have patched up as best I can, it still has one hole that I can find that I haven't been able to fill. Ideally we would like to have a solid model, but I'm running out of time to get this done and the surface model we have would be good enough for our purposes IF I can get the yellow surface tangent lines to turn off or change their color to black.
I've attached a jpg of the surface model with the yellow lines and uploaded the model here: [URL].....
How to prepare for rendering Existing ground with cutted corridor river? Specially in places where corridor river is below EG. If there is some tool like cut?
I had express tools loaded, but now I have a problem. I try downloading Auto CAD True View, but did not get it to work, since then I have been getting unknown Command "txt2mtxt" now none of my commands work. I try auto cad repair from the install program and it still does not work.
