Lightroom :: Convert Colour Profile Of Custom Printing Package From Pro Photo To SRGB Before Printing

Oct 30, 2012

How do I convert the colour profile of a Lightroom custom printing package from Adobe Prophoto to sRGB before printing? For that matter, how do I save the thing? I have no interest in saving the template, or the collection separately, since neither has any use without the other. And without saving them as one finished item, I have no way to convert the colour profile of that item. I can see clearly from the appearance of the print preview that the above mentioned colour profile conversion is required.

Photoshop :: Printing From CS6?

Jan 23, 2013

I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS6 and when I print photos with it, the prints have small yellow ting and colors are saturated and dark. When I print the same .psd file in Lightroom 4, the colors are perfect and match to the monitor. I've calibrated the monitors and printer with Colormunki and they work perfectly with Lightroom 4. I take pics with my camera in AdobeRPG colorspace. I export pics straight from Lightroom to the Photoshop and I use AdobeRPG mode in photoshop too. I've tried the sRGB mode but no difference with colors.

Settings when I print: Normal Printing - Perceptual. I let Photoshop handle the colors and the profile is the same that I use in the Lightroom (I use the Perceptual intent in Lightroom 4).

When I use hard proofing with Photoshop and add to custom "AdobeRPG 1998"  (same as in the Lightroom). The yellow tint gets harder and more harsh.

Photoshop :: Printing In CS4

Jun 18, 2009

I have just started using CS4, having upgraded from CS2. When I go to print in the print dialog box and go to the Printer Profiles box I am unable to see or select my paper profiles for my Epson 2200 and R300 printers.

There is a large number of profiles, primarily various color spaces, but only one paper profile for my Epson 2200.  There also isn't any arrow or other way to scroll through the display to see the missing paper profiles.

All of the missing profiles are the standard paper profiles provided by Epson either with the printers or from their website.  Do I need to reinstall these profiles in some way in CS4 or is there something else I should be doing to be able to access these profiles?

Photoshop :: CS3 Printing

Apr 29, 2007

Tried to print a 10ft panoramic landscape with CS3 on an Epson 1290 with disastrous results. Only prints about 4ft then aborts. Worse still what it did manage to print was 5ft of the the panorama compressed into that 4ft, the width had been compressed by my assessment as much as 15/20%.

Previously had no problems with CS2 so I have had to reinstall CS2 to effectively do all my printing (especially long landscapes).

Even gone to the extent of reformatting computer and reinstalling everything from new.

So Adobe can you please tell me what good is it or the point in releasing a program that you cannot trust to print?

I don't trust Photoshop CS3 to do any of my printing anymore, not even A4 or A3 sizes.

Photoshop :: Printing

May 7, 2008

I use photo shop for everything on our company, from designing websites and multimedia screens to art that will get printed.

The company uses a SAVIN C3535 for our printed material, and it used to get us really good print quality...until now. When I print stuff directly from Photo shop it creates a weird "cutout" effect on the pictures (people and logos mostly) and creates like a black "noise" surrounding any black text in my art. Color text and shapes print out fine. Anything with tones looks bad. If I send the same file to print to different printer, it looks awesome! Obviously it is the printer...Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this? i already contacted the printers' tech support, but they haven't been able to fix it (they keep blaming photo shop)

Photoshop :: CS3 Printing @ 500% In...

Nov 13, 2008

This is with resample off, so the final product will be printed at 200ppi. As part of our (forensic) workflow, we print images at 500%. There are different ways of doing this, but some people in the office specify this in the Print Preview Pane, whereas I do it directly to the image in PS before going to print.

After switching to CS3 from CS, it was noticed that 500% for a 1000ppi image (physically less than 36mm X 24mm at 1:1) was being limited to a bit less than 400%. An error box would pop up saying the value must be between 0.00% and XXX.XX%... and it would automatically select the maximum in the range.

For a 1000ppi original image, the upper range would be around 370%. I tried it with a 2400 ppi image (5MB) and was limited to ~150%. Apparently this is not a specific number, but some sort of resolution-based maximum.

The printer used for output doesn't appear to matter as we've tried a couple of different ones.

Is there some sort of maximum percent of image size allowed for printing, based on resolution that can be selected in the Print Preview Pane?

Photoshop :: Printing On OS X

Jul 21, 2005

I am transitioning from OS 9 to OS X and am running into some problems with printing.

I am using a G4 mac DP, 1.25 Mhz. and an Epson Stylus Photo 820. and I'm running both systems on my G4.

I had been using PS 7 with OS 9 and printing out pictures without any problems but I recently downloaded the Try out version of Adobe PS CS2 and decided to use it to print out some of the pictures on OS X.

In the Print Preview the options were set to let the printer determine colours. When that was OK'd the next print page showed only the printer and the presets which said Standard.

The problem I'm having is that the picture takes less than a minute to print and is of poor quaility compared to printing the same picture on OS 9 with PS 7 which takes maybe 2 or 3 minutes. The printer is printing at 300 dpi on OS 9 but i'm not sure what it is printing at on OS X. Not sure how to check that with OS X. Like I said earlier I'm not that familiar with OS X yet.

Photoshop :: PPI Vs DPI And Printing

Jul 24, 2008

if I understand PPI and DPI correctly. PPI dtermines the actual reoslution of the picture and DPI really determines how much ink the printer will spray per inch as it prints out.

So I guess I would like to know if anyone has suggestiosn to these three questions.

1. When scanning an image in, does DPI Actually refer to PPI? If so, what DPI/PPI shoudl I scan at.

2. In photoshop cs3 does the "Pixel Demenssions" section refer to PPI and the actual DPI section refer to the DPI setting for the printer?

3. What would be the best PPI and DPI settings for printing out the 3foot by 2foot poster?

Photoshop :: Printing In Lab...

Jul 12, 2008

I have a document thats currently in CYMK color mode, and I'm having difficulty finding satisfactory colors. I was advised elsewhere to abandon CYMK. I therefore want to convert my image into to LAB color mode. I've read that converting from one color mode to another can cause layers to look funny, however I need to retain some of my layers... Do you guys typically have problems with this? In retrospect I should have STARTED in Lab... Seems that converting from CYMK to LAB wouldn't be as problematic as converting from LAB to CYMK...

The key question is this: will my printer (Epson R800) even be able to print in LAB mode? I thought yes, or at least closely... because it has much more than CYMK to work with... it has these cartridges:

#1 Blue UltraChrome Hi-Gloss Ink Cartridge T054920

#2 Cyan UltraChrome Hi-Gloss Ink Cartridge T054220

#3 Gloss Optimizer UltraChrome Hi-Gloss Cartridge T054020

#4 Magenta UltraChrome Hi-Gloss Ink Cartridge T054320

#5 Matte Black UltraChrome Hi-Gloss Ink Cartridge T054820

#6 Photo Black UltraChrome Hi-Gloss Ink Cartridge T054120

#7 Red UltraChrome Hi-Gloss Ink Cartridge T054720

#8 Yellow UltraChrome Hi-Gloss Ink Cartridge

Finally, in the print screen menu should I be
"letting photoshop manage colors" or letting "printer manage colors"? Do you guys have any other tips on how to tweak printer/photoshop settings/preferences to maximize the accuracy of my colors? Would I possibly be better off just using RGB?

Photoshop :: Printing DPI & PPI

Aug 10, 2008

I'm making a billboard ad for a friend using CS2. The dimensions are around 14'x6'. The printing company hasn't been much help for me. They usually print basic vector graphics and they don't worry much about distortion. The most they could tell me was that they print at 150 DPI and that I can make my image at half size and they'll blow it up.. I'm very worried about distortion as it is an elaborate pixel based graphic.

However, I'm having much trouble working at this huge resolution. Major disk errors and massive loading times between tasks (even with 200gb free disk space and 4gb ram). So, I'm wondering is there any lower resolution I can work at without losing quality here? The printing company hasn't been very helpful here, and I'm having trouble avoiding distortion even in photoshop alone at this rediculous resolution. Thanks if you can offer any advice here, I just feel as if I'm making it harder for myself than it should be.

ps I know how to work around the disk scratch errors,

Photoshop :: CS6 Very Slow Printing

Aug 24, 2012

I have two systems.  The first a windows 7 32 bit quad core with 8 gigs ram  cs4 is installed on this sytem.  Time to print a standard job on an epson 4800 (which includes hitting print, selecting options for the printer and then being able to close the file and open another)  less than a minute.

Recently installed cs6 on new windows 7 x64 intel core i7 system with 12 gigs ram.  I have used both cs4 and cs5 on  this newer system.  Both ran the same file in under a minute to print as outlined above.  Once I installed cs6 however the print time ( as defined above)  for the same file above has now gone to 22+ minutes. on cs6, 18+ minutes on cs5  and approx the same for cs4 (all versions of CS are 64 bit on this system)

If there isn't an update to cs6 soon, I presume I will have to de-activate cs6, cs5 and cs4  and then re-install cs4 and cs5 to take advantage of my  faster system is that correct?

Photoshop :: Printing In RGB Vs CMYK

Dec 17, 2012

There is a photo that I've downloaded from the internet that I'm printing and using for a class project. It was supposed to be Black & White, but when I first printed it, it looked sepia.

My teacher suggested I add a Black and White adjustment layer, but since the photo was originally in Gray scale, I needed to make it RGB to do that. Once I did, the Black & White adjustment layer made the photo Black & White.

Since I want to ultimately use the photo printed, I was thinking it would make sense to make it CMYK. When I try to make that change, Photoshop says it will discard the Black & White adjustment layer. Does that mean it will go back to looking like sepia when I print it? Does it even make a difference if I change the mode to CMYK for printing?

Also, is it better to wait and add the Black and White adjustment layer only after I've made all other adjustments as the last step before printing. Or better to do it right away so I know what I'm working with when it's Black & White?

Finally, is it best to wait and add type only once all the adjustments have been made to the photo? Does type lose any resolution when it gets merged into other layers?

Photoshop :: Image Not Printing In CS5

Jun 19, 2012

I have a strange issue with my Epson R3880 printer:  when I make up a composite image in Photoshop CS5 12.0.4 by cutting and pasting from various other images (then flattening the layers), I cannot get it to print although the printer goes through the motions, but nothing appears on the paper; also the print head doesn't attempt to print over that part of the paper where the image should be appearing (I'm actually doing proofing).

I've reinstalled Photoshop and the latest printer drivers, and tried to print it in other applications (Photoshop Elements and Gimp). Any other images (ie non-cut and paste) print satisfactorily.  I did speak to someone on the Epson help desk who told me he thought it was a Photoshop problem, but the fact that the image won't print in Gimp suggests this may not be the case. The only thing I can think is that something in CS5 which created the image causes an allergic reaction in the printer! I'm running Vista x64.
