Illustrator is better for type. But I'm comp'ing a web design using a Google font called Nobile. The screencap below shows some greek set in Illustrator (top) and the same greek set in Photoshop (below). You don't have to be a typophile to see which one looks better!

One interesting thing I discovered is that using the "sharp" antialias in PS will create the same messed up x-height rendering that Illustrator does. It only looks good in "smooth" or "strong." Perhaps there's a similar setting in Illustrator to change the antialias?

For now I'm just going to place a .psd into my Illustrator file but I'm thinking there's GOT to be a way to make this type look good in Illustrator.
I cannot share photos from my Elements 8.0 Organizer via email. The program does not recognize that I have an email program loaded. The computer is a new HP desktop with Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 operating system. My Elements 8 does everything I need except for the photo sharing so I don't really want to purchase a new version.

I think their version is illustrator 3 - not CS3 ..All I want is to convert them to JPG, the problem is that the program I'm using to convert them doesn't recognize them, though it recognizes regular ai files.

So, Is there a way to convert them to a newer version of AI, and then I use the program to convert to JPG, or maybe directly get them converted to JPG.
I have a problem since I upgraded to CS6 for MAC. All the rest of the Design Premium software works fine, but adobe Illustrator seems to have a problem when exiting the app. Always hangs and never closes down so I have to use the Force Quit option of the OS. And it happens ALWAYS.

I've been working on some CMYK design documents with a mix of process and Pantone. All art was created in Illustrator and is vector. Everything was going fine, colors looked great and super-accurate as they always do with this monitor. Then...

I was exporting my design to PDF via Save a Copy. As I always do for PDFs I'm sending to a client for review, I chose to convert the colors to destination sRGB in the PDF options dialogue so they can be reviewed on screen.

Upon viewing the PDF using QuickLook in the Finder, I noticed that—rather than being converted to sRGB and looking pretty-close to the CMYK AI file—the PDF was extremely dull as if all colors had been desaturated 50%.

I tried other variations of the export and could not get the colors to look right (note: I did the exact same exports many times over the last week and they always looked great). Finally, I restarted my comp thinking perhaps it was just a temporary bug.

Upon opening my design file back up in Illustrator -- all the elements in the design file itself as we'll as ALL color palettes within illustrator had the same horrible desaturated look! CMYK proof preview was not turned on it affects all files, even those that worked perfectly in the past. I didn't knowingly change any settings in Illustrator (is there a make-all-colors-look-grayed-out shortcut I don't know about?!).

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn illustrator I like my row size to be at 50px in size. Every time I close down AI and reopen it later it seems that the layers have reverted back to their default sizes (I think its like normal or somthing cartoonishly small)

To get to the option panel I'm talking about, bring up your layers in AI then in the top right drop down menu select Panel Options at the very bottom of the contextule menu, and in that window the top options are "Row Size".This is where I pick "Other" and then set it to 50px (every time).
I was working on a file this morning and saved it in .Ai format. This afternoon I came back to work on it again and now it won't open. Illustrator hangs, and then stops responding. Is there a way I can fix this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm making a layout of 2 inch squares, 20 wide and 5 tall, to make color swatches for matching a target color. I'm then taking a starting value and using the edit colors>blend vertically, and blend horizontally to blend the color in the direction I think it needs. But every three or so blends i make it crashes the program, and even when I save my progress it crashes half the time. its a simple file just 2 inch square with color files.Â

How to edit a .wmf file that is a graph and was generated by a statistical program. I need to visually enhance this graph, making it look more appealing for publication in a manuscript. It's very simple, just need to make rectangles behind the existing text that form the columns in the graph, and shade the rows of the graph to assist the reader to follow the row across the graph. While I can edit the text on the .wmf, I can't get a rectangle to be placed under the existing text unless I lower the opacity of the rectangle which won't work as I need black and white only. I've tried converting the text to rectangle, but the stretching of the text won't be acceptable. What would be the workflow I should attempt to follow to enhance the looks of the document in illustrator? Is there a trick to getting the rectangle to behave? It works just fine if I actually type NEW text in, then place a rectangle, but I'll have to work with the info in the .wmf file - can't re-type it all.

When trying to open photoshop back up, the program locks up and the registration box in middle and tool box (upper left) turn all white. The hour glass symbol pops up and the Adobe Photoshop in the top left corner says (not responding).
I've tried closing and re-opening program, re-starting computer, but I can't get program to open. I have a PC and use Windows XP.
My CS2's been working fine for ages, but recently it's stopped letting me use the tools- I can select and change the settings for the different tools, but the cursor only comes up as a hand and I can only move around the canvas. Have I accidentally selected something that I shouldn't have.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWe're having an issue with saving files using Photoshop CS6. Several of our users are unable to save, specifically on our server. They all get the "Could not save because of a program error" message. It doesn't seem to happen on the computers running Lion, but most of the people running Snow Leopard have the problem.
We've tried resetting the preferences, repairing permissions, etc. I read somewhere about unchecking the "ask before saving a layered tiff" button, but none of them seem to solve the problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I purchased CS4 I downloaded it to my main computer and I think my backup one too. After a while I took it off my backup, and now I need it there again so I can travel with it. I went into my account and downloaded it onto the backup computer. It appeared as a blue photoshop square logo with a disc image in the right hand corner. When I opened it all it contained was language options and no other options. I double clicked on English and it opened to a folder containing 'Goodies' and that's all. No installation protocols. Also there was an icon looking like a Text edit icon with a hard drive icon superimposed on it, I double clicked it and all I got was the language selection again. I'm running mac 10.5.8 on a Mac Book.Â

View 1 Replies View RelatedI use Photoshop daily (7.0). Just recently, I tried to save a photo and got the message "could not save because of a program error". After getting the message again tonight, I re-installed Photoshop on a NEW computer, (went from Windows 7 to Windows 8), transferred my images and got the same message. The strange part about this is that only some of my photos can't be saved - even those taken the same day. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it.

Details:
- they can't be saved in any format. I tried jpeg, tiff, png, etc. Same message for all.
- they can't be saved externally. I tried to transfer them to an external drive and got the same message.
- I tried uploading it to an online editing site and renaming it, then re-opening it in photoshop. same message.
How do I get the icon for my Photoshop program?
