View 1 RepliesI have both Photoshop CS5.1 and Photoshop 6 and have upgraded to latest versions of Adobe Camera Raw and DNG converter. However, my NEF files still will not convert/open. The product descriptions for ACR and DNG converter says it should support the D4 files. I have clients to send pics to asap and this issue is costing my money.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI shoot with Nikons which in the RAW format create what they call NEF files.
When I try to open them , I get the following message:
" Could not open .NEF becasue of a program error "
I have determined that if go to the Open file I can get it open, provided I know the exact dimensions of the image, but this is slow and cumbersome.
How can I set it up so that the images simply open in the NEF format?

I 'm running some images from a model show through CS, they were shot with a Nikon camera. The images on my hard drive are colorful just as I see it in CS. When I upload them to my webserver, they lose saturation. Unfortunatly I can't attach a pic here only link from my site. I don't know if I'm saving the pics the wrong way? Or does the color profile have something to do with it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently have PSE8 which will not read the NEF images from my Nikon D5200. I know that I can use the Adobe DNG Convertor 7.3 to convert them to DNG outside of PSE8 then work with the DNG images in PSE8. if possible, to work directly with the NEF images as a plugin. URL..
Q1 - Based on the above am I therefore correct that it is not currently possible to use Nikon D5200 NEF images directly in any currently available PSE?
Q2 - Whether its likely in the next version of PSE? Or would I have to save up for the full Photoshop program to do what I want?
Recently purchased Elements 11 and cannot load Raw images from also recently purchased Nikon D600. Is there a download and if so where is it and how does it work?

HW & SW: Nikon 3200: Apple MacBook Pro OS v. 10.8.5, Adobe Photoshop Elements 11, Adobe Lightroom 5, Adobe DNG Converter
I had a Nikon D60 and used a removable card to store images. No problem. One week ago, I bought a Nikon D3200 and still use the same memory cards I had used with the D60. I have taken about 100 pictures in Aperture, Shutter and Automatic mode, all in RAW format.
Am using Nikon Transfer to import the images from the card to the MacBook.
Photoshop will open JPEG images captured from the D3200 in the JPEG format, but not those captured in RAW format.
I can preview the images on the D3200, but when I download to the Mac, the images do not open in Photoshop Elements 11, or in Adobe DNG 8.2, or in Adobe Lightroom 5.
Photoshop failure message is: “Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw. Please visit the Camera Raw documentation for additional information.”
DNG Converter failure message is: “The source folder does not contain any supported camera raw files.”
Adobe Lightroom failure message is: “The files are not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom.”
I have downloaded most recent versions of Adobe Camera Raw and Adobe DNG. I have also uninstalled and then reinstalled Adobe Photoshop Elements 11. When I try to open or import the images, the same failure messages occur.
My PSE11 will not recognize/convert RAW images from new Nikon D7100 despite trying to download PSE update. Have had NO prior problem with RAW using D80.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just shot my first batch of RAW images using the new Nikon D800. When I downloaded the images using Bridge the thumbnails in the download dialog shows the images. But after download the images are not being shown. Instead I get an icon. If I double click on an image I get a message that camera RAW doesn't recognize the file and a recommendation to update.
I have checked updates from within Bridge and from Photoshop and both tell me that everything is up to date. Photoshop tells me the camera RAW plug in is 6.6 and that is the latest shown on the Adobe download page. According the the information page 6.6 is compatible with the D800.
From the website, it states that PSE12 would be compatible with camera raw plug in through version 8.3, which my camera requires. The error I get when trying to open in PSE 12 states that the file I am trying to open appears to be from a camera that is not supported by the installed version of camera raw. How can I open my raw images in this program? If I cannot and will not be able to, how can I get reimbursed?

View 9 Replies View RelatedGIMP won't recognize images I downloaded using Nikon Transfer. They are in the Pictures library and a Nikon Transfer file shows with everything else when I click File Open, but I can't bring them up to work on in a normal way. I was able to physically move one of the images, listed as DSC, from Nikon Transfer to the Gimp window and modify it normally, but the image was very tiny in a full-screen Gimp window, (which lately I can't permanently get back to the normal size). Saved the image as xcf and jpg and placed in a new file, but still can't work on it.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm using LIghtroom 5.3, and raw camera 8.3, the latest update available. I found from Adobe's site that this version supports D7100 raw image imports. But when trying to import D7100 raw images, I get a message that "the file is not recognized by the raw format support in LIghtroom."
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just checked whether the update to 5.2 would improve speed of rendering images in the Develop module for Nikon D800 NEF files but alas, LR is still taking its time to render images and going back and forth between two or more D800 NEF files to check focus at 100% magnification remains an excercise in meditation....
I had initially hoped that the move from LR 4.x to LR 5 would improve things but this wasn't the case - so when will Adobe finally catch up with the development in cameras with ever bigger files? The Nikon D800 came out one full year ago...
I use Nikon cameras and shoot raw files processing them in ACR and then bringing them into Photoshop. I notice that after the images are processed and saved as jpegs. when I look at the final image in a Microsoft film strip browser, the noise which shows in Photoshop disappears in that viewer. In Photoshop I am viewing everything at 100% I cannot figure out how that happens and what is the true quality of the image. I am just wondering where I can see the true final quality of the image. I would rather not use any noise reduction on the images. I do not like the quality of the image after using that tool.
