Feb 2, 2013I have Lightroom 3 version 3.6 installed on my MacBook. I just upgraded to OS X10.8.2. Now when I try to import raw images from my Nikon D3100 camera I get images to preview but after I select images to import and then select "import" I receive error messages and then a notice that there are no images to import. The import function then totally shuts down.
I also just downloaded the most current version of Java Run. How do I fix this problem?

Mar 23, 2013I have been using Lightroom 3 since 2011 and haven't had any trouble importing Nikon NEF files until today when I got an error message saying, "The follwing files were not imported because they could not be read." I tried importing from several different CF cards so I don't think they are the problem. And I'm using a D700 which is supported by LR3. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling LR like some have suggested but I'm still getting the same error message.

When I import raw canon cr2 or Nikon NEF files, I cannot see the previews.
The progress bar gets stuck on building smart previews and I see a greyed out box. When I choose one greyed out preview box and go into develop then the preview appears and I can edit the image.

May 26, 2013I am trying to get a NEF files made on a Nikon D800E to Import to Lightroom 4.4 with Camera raw 7.4. I get an error that states the following files were not imported because they could not be read.
I can import them to Photoshop CS6 and use them in photoshop but cannot find any way to get them into Lightroom. For a while my photos were partially importing and some NEF files werent on the first few tries (but subsequently did). I have updated LR, updated Camera RAW, updated the MAC operating system, and have a newer version of PS (CS6). I have tried from the camera directly and through a card reader with multiple cards but nothing works.

Jul 12, 2012I've been trying to figure this out for over a week since I got my D800 and am not making any progress. I am using LightRoom 4.1 and Adobe Camera Raw 7.1 on a Mac OS X v10.6.8.
I read that I need ACR 6.7 in order to recognize the D800 NEF files, but I don't know how to remove 7.1. I tried deleting ACR from my .library folder and reinstalling 6.7 but it still says it's 7.1 when I open up LR4.1 again. Also, I only have Photoshop CS5 and I read that 7.1 supports the D800 NEF files in CS6 only.
On a probably unrelated note, I bought the educational version of LR4 and when I go back to my email that contained the download link, it shows a blank page on "My Orders" even though I've purchased this and other educational versions from Adobe in the last few years. I got the LR4.1 download file and reinstalled after removing the release candidate I was checking out, but wasn't prompted for my registration code that was in my purchase email.

I just purchased a brand new NIKON D3300 took a few pictures, signed up for the Adobe annual Photographers Creative Cloud annual program and my first task to have Lightroom import a few test photos fails and I have no clue why my raw + jpgs can't be imported. at the outset In Lightroom I also got a "Preview unavailable for this file" message for every image file when I pointed to the memory card I had connected to my computer:

Dec 4, 2013Got the new Nikon D610 and was forced to purchase lightroom 5 to read my RAW files. (although 4 was just fine besides this file issue) Then i discover that 5 does not support this raw file type yet, so i download 5.3. Program seems to be working fine, not unusually slow, but the import speed for the files is excessivly slow. Im clocking it at around 1 minute per photo based on 24 minutes for 26 photos. This problem is not with the larger file size from the new camera. I tried importing some RAW files from a D7000 and the time was only slightly faster. This problem is with Lightroom 5.3 importing.

I can't figure out why?I've checked the import settings (import as DNG) (apply preset > None) etc. When I look in the History panel after import it just says the imported date, no indication of conversion to bw.
Obviously I can just convert them back to color in the develop panel but I don't understand why this is happening, and with only this camera's files (my Canons all import as normal)?
