This issue has happened all of the sudden...
When I import raw canon cr2 or Nikon NEF files, I cannot see the previews.
The progress bar gets stuck on building smart previews and I see a greyed out box. When I choose one greyed out preview box and go into develop then the preview appears and I can edit the image.
I am currently using a trial version of Elements 11 which has camera raw ver.7.3.071. I can not see any previews of raw files in the organizer or editor for the Canon G15. I can however import the raw file and then open it to view or edit it. Without the preview option, browsing for your photos is impossible.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to import my raw files to lightroom 5 and convert to DNG i get a message that says: "Could not copy files to requested location." and "Files could not be written" I tried converting the files to dng using Adobe DNG converter then importing them to lightroom but they still won't work. Photoshop CS6 and Camera Raw both read the files fine. I just prefer to use Lightroom.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using Lightroom 3 since 2011 and haven't had any trouble importing Nikon NEF files until today when I got an error message saying, "The follwing files were not imported because they could not be read." I tried importing from several different CF cards so I don't think they are the problem. And I'm using a D700 which is supported by LR3. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling LR like some have suggested but I'm still getting the same error message.

None of the images can be imported and an attempt to install the current version of Adobe Camera RAW plug-in also failed. The error message reads "The following files were not imported because they cannot be read. (3)".
Update: I've now tried to import files from a newly-formatted SD card and am having the same problem.
I have a 5D Mk II, and just bought a 6D yesterday. I have Lightroom 4.2 on a Mac. It won't let me import the RAW files, won't show previews of them.

If I understand correctly I must upgrade to Lightroom 4.3 or get a converter in order to import my Raw files from Nikon D7000 into Lightroom?

I can import them to Photoshop CS6 and use them in photoshop but cannot find any way to get them into Lightroom. I've been trying to figure this out for over a week since I got my D800 and am not making any progress. I am using LightRoom 4.1 and Adobe Camera Raw 7.1 on a Mac OS X v10.6.8.
I read that I need ACR 6.7 in order to recognize the D800 NEF files, but I don't know how to remove 7.1. I tried deleting ACR from my .library folder and reinstalling 6.7 but it still says it's 7.1 when I open up LR4.1 again. Also, I only have Photoshop CS5 and I read that 7.1 supports the D800 NEF files in CS6 only.
On a probably unrelated note, I bought the educational version of LR4 and when I go back to my email that contained the download link, it shows a blank page on "My Orders" even though I've purchased this and other educational versions from Adobe in the last few years. I got the LR4.1 download file and reinstalled after removing the release candidate I was checking out, but wasn't prompted for my registration code that was in my purchase email.
Camera Raw import filter for Nikon D800 NEF files in LR 3.6? I believe LR 4.1 supports this file type natively, but I am not yet ready to update to 4.1.
I can, however read these files in Adobe P-Shop CS5 and Bridge CS5.

I have a new MAC running 10.8 IOS and Lightroom 4.3. I also have a new Canon 5d Mark III. According to documentation Lightroom should recognize RAW files on the camera for download into Lightroom. But while I had success with only importing a single image amid multiple attempts, I cannot. Files are not recognized or cannot be converted to DMG for import. I took the card and put it into my old Rebel XT camera body, and it very slowly worked.
I have been using Lightroom with the old XT camera with no issues. Now I have a 1000 CF card and I can't get this to work from the camera. I have oredered a card reader which I have seen in other groups is supposed to solve this, but quite frankly: what the heck?
I am using Lightroom 3 and when i connect my Canon 600D i am unable to see any previews so that i can choose what and what not to import they are in CR2 format and it says preview unavailable.

I've also attached a screen shot. I would really like to use Lightroom and all the Adobe products but I have no clue why it won't work with my NIKON test pictures.
Got the new Nikon D610 and was forced to purchase lightroom 5 to read my RAW files. (although 4 was just fine besides this file issue) Then i discover that 5 does not support this raw file type yet, so i download 5.3. Program seems to be working fine, not unusually slow, but the import speed for the files is excessivly slow. Im clocking it at around 1 minute per photo based on 24 minutes for 26 photos. This problem is not with the larger file size from the new camera. I tried importing some RAW files from a D7000 and the time was only slightly faster. This problem is with Lightroom 5.3 importing.
