Photoshop Version: Photoshop CS3 Windows XP Dell Computer I can not find the Clone Source Panel. When I click on the Clone Tool it does not appear. where I can access the Clone Source Panel?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I am running CS 6 and my clone stamp tool has been having issues for the past couple weeks. I go to alt+click a location to get my source, and then as i move somewhere else to starting cloning, it instead uses the exact area i am trying to cover up. The little icon that appears to show you where you are cloning from, is always inside my cursor, no matter where i grab the source from.
Only fix I have found is closing up and restarting PS again, and even then, it only works for one or two clicks then goes back to the issue.
How do I open the clone source panel in photoshop?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm struggling in Photoshop with a large number of scanned B/W photos from the '50s and '60s with wide areas of dust and scratches. Dreading the prospect of tedious cloning or healing, I googled for "Dustbusting 101 in Photoshop".
Make a copy of the background layer, select this layer, go to FILTER > NOISE > DUST & SCRATCHES. Set the Threshold to 0 and increase the radius setting until most of the scratches and dust disappear. Add some noise to this layer so that it closely matches your original image. Use this layer to "paint" in the dust and scratches, to do this make sure this background copy is still selected, go to EDIT > TAKE SNAPSHOT. Then select the original background and turn off the background copy layer. Click on the cloning tool and in the options box choose FROM SNAPSHOT. If the dust or scratches are light use the DARKEN MODE for the cloning tool (this will only fill in the light areas and will not affect the other areas of the image). If the dust or scratches are dark use the LIGHTEN MODE for the cloning tool and go over these areas. For this technique you should use a small brush size, although it is tempting to rush through it using a large brush."
I am stymied when I get to the part which says: "... Click on the cloning tool and in the options box choose FROM SNAPSHOT. ..."
Is it possible to set a clone source point which moves in the opposite direction of the cloning route?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to mask out a light source in a complex figure. I have just upgraded from PSE 11 -> 12, but I doubt that is the problem. I thought the clone stamp tool in Editor was simply not working. When I'd drag (after setting a source) over the bright area, it would darken where I dragged.
From experience it seemed like it was marking the area it was going to modify - but this turned out to be the extent of the modification. It just stayed dark. Following other discussions, I adjusted my depth of history to ease RAM footprint, restarted Editor, and rebooted my Mac (OSC 10.9). I also twiddled with all the options under Clone Overlay. I could see the effects, but they did not fix the issue. When I try the Clone Stamp tool elsewhere, it does what I expect.
I'm suspecting pilot error, but don't know what else to try.
In LR4, you clicked, held down, and dragged your cursor to select a custom target source point to sample from... Clearly with the big update to the Spot removal tool in LR5, this action has a different effect... So in order to mimic that old action, you have to hold down Command (Mac) while clicking and dragging to select from a custom source point.
This issue I'm having is that when doing this, the Clone/Heal option always defaults to clone. I would say that 90% of the time, I'd rather have it acting as a 'Heal' instead. Having to then go and click 'Heal' to update this fact on every single spot removal is highly time intensive to say the least, when you are editing thousands of images, in my case, at a time.
Am I missing something, or is it possible to change this Default to 'Heal' instead of clone? I like that LR4 would leave the Clone/Heal option wherever you last set it, and you had to manually change it in order to use it differently.
Im creating some textures for a Maya project I'm doing. The images I have right now are .psd's at 1024,1024. Im finding out now that the res might not be high enough to produce good results in maya.
So I want to double the texture file to 2048,2048. But I dont want to lose any of the current detial or have it start to wash out and/or become pixelated. Is there a,filter, tool, plugin, or anything that could atleast aid me in keeping some of the detail? Thanks for all the replies.
Could not use the clone stamp tool because the area to clone has not been defined (option-click to define a source point). this is what shows up in the command box when ever I click to start to pick the spot i want to use as the clone. makes my cloning tool useless. I have reset the tools restrted my computer.

I have the layer with the eye in it active, I choose the clone tool, I hit CTRL and click the area of flesh around the eye I want to copy, I see a moving outline of the flesh that's being copied, It works spiffingly! I change brush size to work in a smaller area, I hit CTRL and click the area of flesh I want to copy, I see a moving outline of the flesh I want to copy, But nothing! My cursor moves, but no cloning going on.
This has been plaguing me for a while but I've had projects going that I didn't want to interrupt. It's gotten to the point that I just can't take it anymore. I really need the clone tool for this phase of this project
I opened up PS ,havnt used it too active lately and started to experiment a little. Anyway here's the thing i created but i got a little problem, the light source on the green part( as u see i tried to do something), i cant get it right, i want it as it would be shiny.BUT i cant get it to my mind where it should be (to right, left,up and down?) i made it with pen path and the colored it white and then reduced the opacity,if there is another way to get it ,tell me that too, but at least i would be very grateful if someone could tell me where it should be,coz i aint got an "eye" to see where it should come(maybe u would have to be more of an artsit than me to see it )
View 2 Replies View RelatedUsing GoLive for web design, and Photoshop 5.5 for editing banner images, on Win98 PC.
I need to know where Photoshop 5.5 expects to find its fonts, as I am not getting it to use a newly added font successfully, nor, also, existing stored fonts.
Banner image in question is a .psd file with two layers (a) text heading and (b) logo. Originally designer used Helvetica Narrow Bold Oblique for text. If I open up the text layer on current PC, I receive message that 'Helvetica Narrow etc. is missing for text layer and font substitution will occur. Continue?'
If I OK this message I get Type Tool window, and I can change to a substitute font, say, ARIALNBI which is a TrueType font available on my PC (in Windows Font file). But if I select this, then text defaults to some basic typewriter-looking font and not ARIALNBI.
How can I get Photoshop to use required selected font? I assume there must be some option to select source of fonts but can't find it. I seem to remember this could either be in Windows Fonts by default or a file local to Photoshop.
I have ATM 4.0 available, but not sure if relevant or, in fact, linked to Photoshop (and if I look in Settings in the ATM it only seems interested in PostScript files).
I placed a watermarked image for review and now need to buy the real stock image, but have accidentally deleted the source file. Is the file data stored anywhere in Photoshop like a Link would be in InDesign?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am currently using Photoshop CS4.Anyway, I want to make a grid, not necessarily with square grid blocks, then attach an image to a new layer underneath the grid. Then I want something that will go grid block by grid block, look for the predominant color of the attachment image within that grid block, and fill that entire grid block with that color. The images I am looking to attach are cartoon style (i.e. logos), and there are not complex color schemes to work with. The Pixelize effect is similar, except that it gives a blend of the colors which may not be in the grid space to begin with. i.e., if only black and white is used in an image, it might spit out a gray color shade rather than black or white. I am essentially trying to create a pattern from source images.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI know it might sound weird, HDR images are usually built from multiple images all taken from the same place at the same time but using different exposures.
I'd like to create a HDR image from multiple versions of one source image. I have a number of pictures where I've taken the photo exposing for the sky. This resulted in the landscape/buildings being darker than desired usually. These areas can be easily brightened up though. I find that if I expose for the landscape and buildings, then the sky is washed out and unrecoverable. If I expose for the sky, the landscape and buildings are merely "a bit dark" and can be recovered simply by adjusting the brightness/contrast in photoshop. Of course doing this washes out the sky again, so I need to create a composite of good sky and brightened landscape and buildings. I'm not creating anything professional, so it's not important that I use the best pro techniques.
What I've traditionally done is have two layers, one with the original image (with the good sky) and one with the lightened image (with the good landscape and buildings) and using a mask for the sky, I can put the good (unlightened) sky on the lightened image. Standard stuff really.
So when I heard about HDR automation, I'd hoped that I could take my original image (with the good sky), take a second lightened version of the very same image, put it on a layer, select a HDR automation tool and have it somehow merge them magically. When I've tried this though, nothing seems to happen. I'm left with an unmerged image. I'm pretty sure I'm going about it wrong.
I wonder whether this HDR automation isn't going to help me and perhaps my fake pseudo HDR image creation technique is worth sticking with.
I've been using Corel Photopaint 8 for many years and only just switched to PS CS3 recently (mostly driven by the thought of this cool HDR feature). I'm still finding my way a bit. I'm using it on XP if that makes a difference.
what are your thoughts, yes or no? if yes, why, if no, why?
I feel its very un-businesslike to require/request them it ranks up there with requiring or requesting free specs. looking forward to your responses so i can come up with a polite way to explain why I won't hand over my work.
I am trying to set up a batch process however when I try to select the source folder I am only presented with my Desktop and 1 subfolder on my desktop.
I cannot select any other drives/folders.
I am using CS3 on Vista Ultimate 64. My photos are stored in an external WD My Book Drive. I have the same problem when I try to select a destination folder.
I cannot see any of my other drives/partitions? I have the same issue when I try this through the Image Processor tool as well.
After creating a duplicate layer of a stroke, I then click the thumbnail of an existing layer (where I want to move the copied layer to) while holding the control key, I see the image with marching ants border, and attempt the move the copied layer. I get the following message ' the request could not be completed because the sourse and the destination documents are the same.

I have about 1000 folders all that have a file inside called; sample.jpg. I need to resize each of them and I have to use the Save For Web option so that these files are as small as possible. Save As makes the images too big. My plan was to make an action and batch process the files. It's easy enough to open all the documents, within the root directory, that are called, sample.jpg, by using the finder search features, but what I can't seem to do is get the Save to Web option to recognize the image's source folder. If I create an action, I see that the location I used when I created the action, is hard coded, so all I'm able to do is overwrite the same file, over and over again.
